[Someone’s looking cheery (it’s Catty). She’s sitting in front of the screen next to a less-cheery Vanessa, absently doodling on a piece of paper] Okay, so one of the things that we found out during the whole ‘oh no the turtle is dying and turning helpless teenaged girls into shadow monsters’ thing is that, the general mood of the people on the turtle affects Asti, and vice versa.
This is important, obviously, because no one likes a sad turtle. Especially when we’re living on the back of it. And you know who some of the saddest people in the world are? Drug addicts.
[Catty, you were literally the only teenage girl stuck as a shadow. Vanessa makes a face, although it’s not really certain which part of Catty’s spiel is getting the face made at.] What Catty means is that, during our investigation, we learned about this drug called Dust. It’s getting kind of big. We also learned that it’s possible that the things we do here can affect Asti. So it stands to reason that people who are using drugs could make him sick again. [She flashes a small smile.]
We were kind of thinking of maybe starting an outreach program? To help with both teenagers and adults addicted to Dust. Or addicted to anything! [Stop putting poisons in your body, yo.]
Right, exactly. And there are only so many people we can do the goddess of hope thing at, you know? We can’t be everywhere. Plus, it turns out that not everyone is willing to listen to a pair of seventeen year old girls, so having some help would be great.
[Omg, no she didn’t. Did she really? Vanessa goes a little pale but tries to ignore the fact that Catty has totally just spilled the beans on that secret. Maybe nobody will notice. Yeah. No noticing.] You mean, not everyone is willing to listen to you. [Her lips purse.] So yeah. If you’d like to help us help not just the kedan but Foreigners too - because we need to look out for each other - let us know. [A beat.] If you don’t know who we are, I’m Vanessa and this is Catty. [Jerking her thumb at the brunette now.]
[The brunette gives a small wave and a thumbs up, and then switches off the feed]
[ooc; Catty is black and Vanessa is blue!]

So it's like handing out the Kool-Aid to people, and then getting into a vampire sacrifice?

That sounds like a great idea, girls. Is there anything specifically you need help with?
[Dinah's experience is limited to a couple of specific addicts and a whole lot of dealers, but she's sure she can help.]

I followed up a loose lead from our investigation—the bit about that old junkie in the Water sector, Jing. Unfortunately he's a bit past talking right now— [She realises how that sounds as soon as it comes out and quickly adds:] Not my fault; I didn't expect him to nod off into unconsciousness whilst we were talking—but he did say something about the drug originating from experiments in the Metal sector.
I'm still working on that one. So far it's been all dead ends, but you never know.

[Catty doesn't seem too fazed about the accidental implication, although Vanessa might. She opens her mouth to say something and then shuts it, like she's thinking it through]
He's still alive though, right? I might be able to get more out of him if he is.

[He takes a breath before going on.]
If it's alright, could we meet up and talk about your investigation sometime? I'm trying to gather up information on the various investigations.
We'd be cool with that! [Just going to nudge Vanessa casually. Agree with her ok]

Great. Some place private's probably best. When and were would be good?

[ okay what Wichita's never heard of turtle drugs and maybe she's not in the business of those kinds of drugs, but she's curious ]
Wouldn't people who are high as hell just make Asati feel pretty great too? Unless it's a heavy downer or something, but why the hell would anyone take that?
[ she's grinning though, in that "you don't have to answer that because I'm definitely just kidding but I feel like being an asshole" way ]

[ she can't think of a kind of high in the world that would be worth giving up their, uh, free will. but at least now she's thinking about the party she's planning on throwing with Hayley, like knowing the turtle can catch their good vibes gives them an actual reason besides 'boredom' to go through with it ]
But I guess that's good for your shout-out here. If they are high, they'll want to go along with whatever you're saying, right?
