[RADIO] AUDIO ONLY; (GUIDING LIGHT EVENT)
[ Evandau has once again taken to the radio for an announcement this important, even though the consoles are moderately less compromised than before -- this is simply too important to leave to chance, to not take every precaution. Though there is no accompanying video feed, it's not difficult for anyone to imagine the Emperor's expression with the tired weight and steadfast grimness in his voice. ]
Foreigners. I have an important announcement-- two, in point of fact. For your own safety and protection, listen to both of them and take close heed.
First, you will be relocating from your existing suites to new lodgings in the various sectors. These are larger than your previous accommodations, though you will be sharing some areas of them. I ordered construction on these new lodgings for you shortly after Es-- after Ironwood's death, as I feared that our common enemy would be targeting you in your existing spaces. These new buildings are better fortified from physical threats and have spells of protection constructed into them: walls, doors, any aspect that might inadvertently make itself a portal for the enemy's reach through the Death plane. Evastelei herself has overseen these protection spells. For that reason, I ask that you not make any significant alterations to the new lodgings, particularly to the outer structure, else you risk damaging the stability of those wards.
[ There's a slight pinch in his voice as he says Eva's name; he may be working with the scarred magician in seeming full cooperation, but their past has clearly not been forgotten. Unfortunately he needs every ally he can muster if he intends to win this war, and the first step for that is making sure his summoned army is kept safe. So he moves on briskly after a moment, focusing on what will be the drive behind this change. ]
Secondly, and this is of utmost importance: the lanterns in the Throne Room of the Palace formerly held your essences upon Tu Vishan; that is, what anchors your souls here in this realm, in Life. Many of you who came to the audience hall to petition the Emperor would have seen them hanging from the ceiling. It was Eshai's wish not to reveal their true purpose to those who were brought here... both you, and the last group that was summoned here. But I cannot expect you to be kept in the dark indefinitely, not when you are going to have such a hand in protecting yourselves body and soul, from this point forward. Evastelei has withdrawn your souls from those lanterns and put them in new holdings for now. They are significantly more fragile than the previous ones, but there is only so much her magic can do without taxing her too badly.
[ There's a mutter of haughty discontent in the background audio of the radio feed; it seems said magician is also present in the broadcast and not taking kindly to Evandau's choice of wording. It's easy to picture the Emperor spreading his hands at this point, as though part in explanation and part in askance. If there were another way, perhaps this would not have been necessary... but here they are, and this is the course that they have come to. ]
She will be finding new anchors for them within these new buildings, based on where your souls resonate most strongly. I cannot guarantee that this will be your preferred choice of living arrangements... the new anchors aren't resilient enough yet to force them to take root except where Evastelei's magic places them. In the future, this may change. In the meantime, your previous housing will be opened for use to some of the kedan whose homes were damaged or destroyed by the bombings last month. I believe that it will be safer for them there, and that they won't be targeted without the Foreigners living there.
I shouldn't need to be implicit in this, but I will anyway: these lanterns are literally housing your souls. If they're destroyed or even damaged significantly, your tie could be cut to this realm and you will be lost, neither here in Life nor in your own world. They must be protected at all costs, and do not remove them from your housing units. Evastelei will have more information for you when she comes around, regarding what you must do to keep them strong and safe.
When the Palace is retaken... there may be cause to revisit this. For now, I am literally placing your lives in your own hands.
