Still, Grave doesn't accept defeat so easily and just brushes it off, his brows canting slightly at her proclamation.]

[A day ago he'd have thought this all a crazy drug dream, but he hadn't used in a long time and even if it was he found he could play along just fine.]

[flatly:] I don't use any of those things. But I guess facebook's a little big right now, I think. My pop culture's a little slack. Disco's been over for a while though. Since the late 70s. Early 80s, at most.

[Graverobber snorts slightly, shifting in his chair.]

Didn't ask if you used them, Kid... Was more that I was trying to figure out the 'when' of it... guess I could have asked. [He half shrugs and then focuses in her actual answer.]

Facebook? That'd put you 'round about 2000-ish. Fuck me... Alright, I'll bite. What year you from, Kid?

[Grave shakes his head at the answer, unable to not find it a bit remarkable to be talking with people from the past.]

Isn’t that just a sonofabitch… When I tucked myself in it was a nice balmy evening in August of 2056. [He snorts softly, bemused.] I’d recommend investing in GeneCo if you ever get back home… make yourself a pretty penny off that fucker Largo.

[He gives a half shrug, brushing off the thought.]

[A pause -- because she hadn't considered the possibility of forgetting this place once leaving] I wonder.

[Then she gets lost in that train of thought, the hows, the whys, the ifs. It's a bit of time before she comes back and remembers the last question he asked]

[It's with no small bemusement that he waits for he to answer the latter and it earns her that trademarked Graverobber smile. The less creepy one, that is.]

Graverobber? Sounds like more a nickname or codename than actual name. [And a potential job description.]

[He grins at her quick response, nodding his head partially in acknowledgment.]

It’s the name and business, Kid. [Did he have a real name? Yep, but it wasn’t many anywhere that knew this man as Jason Fell. He’d lived his job and had ever since around the age of thirteen. Before that, it’d been the street life and everything horrible attached to it.]

[Graverobber smirks slightly, hands open in a gesture of supplication of sorts.]

The dead are dead, Kid… they’re worm food and left to rot like any other bit of refuse or waste. I make the best of it, but I can assure you that my clientele is a very specific lot and that I bother as few as possible. [It just so happened that nearly everyone that died (or was killed) back home had Z to extract.]

[He arches a brow.]

Are things so different back home, Annabeth?

Yes. The dead are still the dead, and they cannot be brought back to life. But it's not so black and white.

Well kid, things are never black and white and that’s why I do what I do to survive. But it’s just that… in the end, you do what you have to do.
