Okay, so the whole anti-Foreigner thing aside, some of these kedan guys seem nice. I guess.

[They haven't freaked out at her for her hair or eyes, for one thing, but she's not totally convinced.]

But, can I get a second opinion on the job thing? There's a bunch of us that've been here long enough to know if it's a sham or not. [She leans back in her chair, bracing her boots against the edge of her desk, running her fingers through her hair.]

Look, last time I had to do a few hours "work" -- [She brackets the word with finger quotes.] -- for secure room and board really didn't work for me or my friends. [Weapon X project, she's looking at you.] I just want to make sure that kind of mess is never going to happen again.

No, they haven't.

I mean, I'm not saying not to be suspicious either. I definitely was a lot more wary when I first got here, and I don't think I'll never not be on guard. I think the bigger issue is going to be whenever we're called up for whatever purpose we were summoned for.

Where'd you hear about the summoning bit?

From the Emperor herself. During an audience. She said we've been summoned here to help against a threat.

['Threat' can mean a whole lot and her curiosity cools cautiously in a fit of alliterative action.]

She mention much about this 'threat?'

No. I tried to get it out of her, but she just fell back on "you'll know when you need to."

Seriously? [She lets out a heavy breath.] That has to be the lamest excuse ever.

Unfortunately it's something I'm all too familiar with, but it doesn't make it any less frustrating.
