( It shouldn't be judged by the standards of a planet that had barely been walked on by the direct ancestors of humans, according to Shockwave. ) Humans are as much caught in this situation as we are, and there's nothing to be gained by ignoring that.

The way to help them is not to remove oneself completely - that solves nothing, and whether you like it or not, we will be drawn into this. Better to earn their trust any way we can so that when we can no longer hide they'll be more accepting of our reasons for doing so in the first place.
