[Despite having been taught how to use the computers and the seeming necessity of doing so, Hans hadn't been quick to make his entrance. He's been observing, trying to get an idea of the sort of people he'll come across here, it's a while before he's entirely ready to begin playing along.

A bright, smiling face will appear on the feed, he's pretty delighted that he's learned how to work the contraption with such ease. He seems a little unsure of how to start, whether he should introduce himself or head straight into the issues here. Instead, he opts for small talk.]

It was very nice of the people here to teach us how to use these, we don't have anything like it where I'm from. [He gives a soft laugh.] I thought I should take the time to introduce myself. I am Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, but since they aren't here... [He trails off, looking just a bit concerned by that.] Hans, will do.

I haven't been here long, so any information you can provide would be most appreciated..And in turn, if there is any way in which I can assist you, please do not hesitate to let me know. [He can't help bowing his head a little at the computer. He's not really sure if you're meant to bow at them. Royalty could be watching, it seems a safe bet.]

The pleasure is all mine, I'm sure. [He smiles right back, hesitating a little before he waves his hand back. Fascinating.] It's kind of you to ask- I have a lot of questions but I'm sure that's no surprise given where we are... I wondered if anyone from Arendelle had arrived before me? Maybe someone from the Southern Isles, even?

I'm afraid I haven't heard of either of those places before.

[Wow it's weird being on the other side of this. Usually it's her who has to be told that no, they've never heard of the country she's from.]

But in most cases it's only a matter of time before someone from your world shows up! From what I can tell it's really rare that anyone comes here without at least one other person from where they're from arriving. Usually someone you might even know.

I suppose I should be relieved. [He rubs the back of his neck, looking off screen for a moment as if considering everything that's been said.] I think it would be for the best if they weren't here, in the long run. I'm sure I'll get on just fine by myself.

[Bryn being Bryn and rather protective of her own family and friends, misses entirely that he might have other reasons for being relieved that no one he knows or is remotely associated with is there. Because after all, as much as she misses people back home, it's better they're not there.]

I understand completely, and you're right, you'll probably be just fine. Most of us are after all.

Speaking of, I own a tavern in the heart of the city, just a block or so in from the central courtyard in the Fire Sector. First drink is always on the house and we have some good food. Lots of other foreigners drop by if you ever want to meet people.

I can't say I'm not a little wary given the circumstances, but everyone so far has been nothing but pleasant. [And the smile he gives indicates that it's appreciated.]

I'll definitely keep that in mind. [He could use a drink.] How long have you been here to be so well established? ..I-if you don't mind my asking, of course.

I don't mind at all. I've been here for...several months now actually. I think nearly eleven now, actually. Others have been here far longer, however. Over a year, easily. Perhaps a year and a half, almost.

[Her smile doesn't look quite so happy, though it remains on her face, slightly strained.]

As for the tavern, I got lucky. I had a couple generous investors to help make it happen, and came upon a small windfall when I was in the planning process.

[His eyes widen a little at her statement, as if he wasn't at all expecting it to be such a long time.] Maybe it was foolish of me to assume this would be more.. temporary.

[He gives her a sympathetic look.]

It's admirable what you've done with your situation. I'm sure there's as much good as there is bad here, if the people are anything to go by. [Juuuust gonna smile a little wider.]

[Bryn looks pleased by the recognition of what she's put together, but it occurs to her...]

Nice of you to say, and you haven't even been by the BT to check it out yourself.

[Because well, like most everyone else here he's got a lot of time on his hands to do so.]

It's here, by the way. [Have a ping, Hans.]

[Hans holds that reassuring smile as Bryn looks pleased, getting a little startled at the ping but he seems to figure it out.]

And will you be there? [There's a very subtle, sly hint to his tone there but his smile makes it obvious he's joking around.]

More than you'd expect, actually. [She offers the answer with a sly sort of grin of her own, perhaps implying there's more to it than that but she doesn't offer a hint as to what.]

First drink is always on the house, and it's a good place to meet more people when you feel up for that.

I'll definitely consider it. [He nods, raising his hand to wave goodbye.] Thank you for your patience. [And now he's cutting the feed off, but it's not long before he's headed toward the tavern.

As a Prince, he doesn't generally make such casual visits without prior planning, so there's a little hesitation before he lets himself step into the place. He casts a glance around, looking for the woman he spoke to over the computer.]

[Bryn turns her console off after he cuts the feed, going back to her business.

She happens to be downstairs in the Brazen Turtle when he arrives, arms full with a huge tub full of dirty dishes from the rooftop tables. Flashing him a smile she pauses only a step.]

Hey, welcome, be with you in just a sec.

[And then she continues on to the back kitchens to drop the dishes off. When she exits, she steps back behind the bar and grabs a clean towel from under the counter.]

I see you found your way here alright.

[He raises a hand in greeting as she passes, idly considering helping her but deciding perhaps to leave that for another time.

He approaches the bar as she returns, not taking a seat just yet.]

Maybe I'm a better navigator than I thought I was. [He laughs, letting his gaze trail around the place before settling it back on her.] It's certainly lively in here. You must have a talent for creating a good atmosphere.

[Bryn grins at the compliment. Her weight shifts from one leg to the other, body language showing an easy sort of confidence.]

Thanks. I've been in enough places like this that setting it up just came naturally. Knew exactly what I liked and what I didn't.

[He doesn't sit right away, and so Bryn's head cants to the other side, considering the prince curiously.]

There's seating here at the bar and the tables, wherever you like, but if you prefer we've also got seating up on the roof. Great view if you don't mind a couple flights of stairs.

Sometimes it just takes a good eye, right? [He gives her a knowing look.] It's nice, making a familiar space in an unfamiliar space... I swear I didn't mean that to rhyme, either. [He laughs, looking around as she talks before moving to take the closest seat he can and sitting as awkwardly as a kid in church.] Here is fine! Thank you.

[Smiling easily, Bryn just nods when he says he'll sit at the counter. He doesn't look like he's ever done anything like this before, so while she has bartenders on hand to serve him, she decides it might be better to handle him herself.]

Sure thing. So, the way it works is that none of the food or drinks here really exist in our worlds. So, if there's something you want that's not water, it may not be here but something like it probably is. [She pauses a beat.] And alcohol here is stronger than back home in most cases so definitely keep that in mind too.

[He'd be so embarrassed to know she can pick up on that, but a Prince really ought to be out of place in a bar regardless of the pleasant decorum. He would at least be very pleased to know that she's taking the time to serve him individually, not to mention a little flattered.

He sort of nods along as she speaks with that same, polite smile, though it seems to grow as she speaks.]

I'll have to go easy on it, then. I certainly don't have much experience with alcohol. [But onto the important thing.] If there's nothing I'll be familiar with, you may have to recommend something.

[He's rather easy to get along with, Bryn decides. Easy-going, and not ashamed to admit that he doesn't have a lot of experience with alcohol. She likes him for that, if nothing else.]

That's fine, I can put something together you'll probably like. Anything you don't like though? Things that are too sweet or too tart or too bitter? Wine or beer, that sort of thing?

[Hans knows well enough to leave a good and lasting impression on people, particularly when they're being so accommodating and helpful.]

I definitely prefer sweet things, but I can't think of anything I'd object strongly to. I trust your judgement!

Oh, well in that case I've got just the thing.

[Bryn pulls out a short tumbler and starts mixing things together. Things being no more than a few ingredients. She pours in half a shot of something on the weaker side (by kedan standards, which are rather intense), a splash of something more, and then some sort of juice that she garnishes with a twist of fruit peel.]

Try this. Should be sweet and easy on the stomach.

[Hans is going to lean over as discreetly as possible so he can fix a curious look on her hands despite not knowing what she's doing in the slightest. When she offers it to him, he takes a subtle sniff and finds the scent very appealing.]

It smells delicious, thank you! [He gives her a warm smile before wisely taking a small sip. She wasn't lying about it being strong, but the flavours are intense and interesting. He certainly isn't objecting enough to deny himself another, longer sip.]
