Hey. Captain Jack Harkness here, and I've got to say it's a pretty nice turtle you've got. She's not exactly where I was trying to get, but seeing as this place seems short on the killer reality tv shows...pretty minor quibble.

I've already met a few of the locals - thanks again guys, and sorry about those vegetables - but I'm always open to meet more people. Local, not-so-local, I don't really mind either way since it looks like I'll have some free time.

Other than company, all I'm in the market for right now's a job and maybe some tools, if someone's willing to lend them - I have a piece of tech that got broken in transit somehow, and I'd really rather get it back in one piece.

[He raises his left arm to show off a leather cuff with what appears to be a communicator inside. It's been fried.]

I'm sure we can work something out in exchange, I've been told I'm pretty good with my hands.

[He laughs a little, at his joke, and there's a moment of dead air after it. Just when the pause starts to get uncomfortably long he makes a show of clearing his throat.]

And oh, Doctor, Rose? [His smile tightens, just barely. Appears just a bit forced.] If you're out there, looks like I'm alive after all. Which I'm kind of hoping you two didn't know, because seriously? There are much nicer ways to let a guy down.

One might assume that, though I simply got bored one day and decided to get a masters in European History. My professor described history as the movement of people through space and time. I've always found that definition interesting.

[Though having lived through most of that history, the actual degree had been fairly easy.]

[Well that was kind of typical, but he's going to smile a little more apologetically.]

He hadn't called anywhere home in a long time but in the brief time he was with Rose and the Doctor, the TARDIS had been close. But that didn't matter, and he shrugs.] I travel.

Forgiven. I'm willing to help however I can. Should I call you Chief, or is there something else you'd prefer? [The flirtation returns fairly easily, for all the honest question, better to distract. His time vortex manipulator was broken, and that meant living in the present in more ways than one.]

[Less typical and more that nothing waited for her on her world aside from death of one kind or another.

Valdis smiled softly in response to his flirting.]

I prefer to be just Valdis, but if you insist on formality, Lady Valdis or Chief Valdis will do.

Oh, I never insist on formality. Except when it's fun. [The idea definitely seemed to amuse him though.]

Valdis works for me if it works for you. Now, do you have any more questions for me?

Not really.

[Though she supposed a face to face meeting wouldn't go amiss, it would certainly be more revealing than video, but she was sure it would happen sooner or later.]

One of my consultants is very skilled with technology, he might be able to help you fix your broken tech.

[He wasn't trying to get out of that in any way. But he shrugs easily at the 'no'.]

Sure, it's kind of unique but it seems like I'm going to need all the help I can get with it. You'll have to introduce us.

Tony deals with plenty of 'unique' things. I suppose he could be called a genius.

[Jack laughs, something about it genuine.]

Well, I've got some recent experience with genius. Guess we'll see how it goes - now I'm really looking forward to it.

Good. I hope that we can meet face to face sometime, perhaps over tea?

Well I certainly hope so after all this talk.

Tea it is - unless you prefer something a little stronger. How's this evening?

I have no plans this evening, and tea will be fine.

[That's fine with him, a quirk of his mouth all but screaming hey, doesn't hurt to ask.]

I'd appreciate that - but if you've got some directions I think I can probably meet you there in one piece.

Well, aren't you the brave one. [She's mostly teasing and quickly gives him directions from the Midnight Hotel to a small tea shop in the Sky Sector.]
