It is a book that either entirely fascinates or completely repels the reader; there is little middle ground. You may easily guess where Dorian found himself—and I too, for that matter. I imagine some of the references might have been unfamiliar to you, perhaps—such as Salomé, Moreau's paintings of whom were so entrancing to the protagonist?
