first shot;

Your welcoming summary is a bit dated and scant on hard facts, I expected more vigilance and concrete advice, based off what I've seen in the past few hours. As much of an impression that was made by 'it'... [there's a mixed impression on the emphasis of this word; it seems to be the only fitting word he knows that can properly term Malicant, and there is a hint of amusement at the visceral reaction any other word will cause]

There's precious little in the way of knowledge about what can be done. I'd be glad to arm myself with knowledge, or otherwise I shall simply have to arm myself.

But I should be celebrating. Today is my official freedom from some fool of a banga'a who'd like to claim my head for bounty, against all semblance of reasonable compromise. Now is certainly the time to appreciate the small things. So, in light of my festive mood, a few most assuredly serious questions.

A cleaner-- my clothes are a bit dusty and dirty due to crawling threw sewers and dungeons, which was rather not my preferred method of travel. I'd rather not make the impression of a vagabond.

Metal scrap and parts, including the tools that would best make use of them. I don't expect I'll find an airship any time soon, and a man has needs of a hobby whilst he travels upon the sturdy vessel of a turtle's back. Especially one as fond of the sky as I am.

I won't even ask about iridium injectors, in fact. I'll keep it as simple as possible, for best results.

[he leans back, somehow keeping an amused face. It's easier to look at it from a distance when you're not personally tied to the happenings...]

If you've an answer, then let me know. My name is Balthier.

[The oddity of some words aside, this could be Westley's life story, bounty and all. Ah, the life of a pirate.]

The fire sector should prove useful for metal scrap, though it would only be free of charge if you have an exceptionally sharp eye. [Westley's smile quirks as he silently adds, or a hand exceptionally suited to cutpurse. A clever man will pick up the queue; otherwise, it doesn't pay to advertise.]

And my sympathies on the wardrobe. Mine was in shambles when they brought me.

Embarrassingly bad luck, actually, at the outset. I was forced to greet a terribly helpful and, incidentally, remarkably beautiful lady wearing little more than tatters. I'd have considered making quick use of the drapes had a needle and thread been at hand.

But you know how it is. With the passage of time and a passable head on one's shoulders, it evens out in the end. I found a delightful seamstress in the Earth Sector, eventually. I daresay my first impression is much improved.

I'm certain they could work any miracle you need working, if it involves textiles. The natives don't appear overjoyed that we're here but I have nothing but compliments about their craftsmanship.

[He nods at the feed, something between a respectful head-bow and a deference.] My name is Westley. Pleased to make your acquaintance, so to speak. [He doesn't consider this video thing a legitimate method of communication.]

I'd love to be terribly clever and send you the location over the communication device, but I find the thing preposterous, if begrudgingly necessary to life here. Such as it is.

I wouldn't worry about the lukewarm welcome, however. It seems the natives also find us begrudgingly necessary.
