first shot;
Your welcoming summary is a bit dated and scant on hard facts, I expected more vigilance and concrete advice, based off what I've seen in the past few hours. As much of an impression that was made by 'it'... [there's a mixed impression on the emphasis of this word; it seems to be the only fitting word he knows that can properly term Malicant, and there is a hint of amusement at the visceral reaction any other word will cause]
There's precious little in the way of knowledge about what can be done. I'd be glad to arm myself with knowledge, or otherwise I shall simply have to arm myself.
But I should be celebrating. Today is my official freedom from some fool of a banga'a who'd like to claim my head for bounty, against all semblance of reasonable compromise. Now is certainly the time to appreciate the small things. So, in light of my festive mood, a few most assuredly serious questions.
A cleaner-- my clothes are a bit dusty and dirty due to crawling threw sewers and dungeons, which was rather not my preferred method of travel. I'd rather not make the impression of a vagabond.
Metal scrap and parts, including the tools that would best make use of them. I don't expect I'll find an airship any time soon, and a man has needs of a hobby whilst he travels upon the sturdy vessel of a turtle's back. Especially one as fond of the sky as I am.
I won't even ask about iridium injectors, in fact. I'll keep it as simple as possible, for best results.
[he leans back, somehow keeping an amused face. It's easier to look at it from a distance when you're not personally tied to the happenings...]
If you've an answer, then let me know. My name is Balthier.

The fire sector should prove useful for metal scrap, though it would only be free of charge if you have an exceptionally sharp eye. [Westley's smile quirks as he silently adds, or a hand exceptionally suited to cutpurse. A clever man will pick up the queue; otherwise, it doesn't pay to advertise.]
And my sympathies on the wardrobe. Mine was in shambles when they brought me.
video;
Close to home, eh? Well, that certainly solves one of my outstanding problems. And all that remains is finding a change of clothes. I hope you had better luck than I've had so far.

But you know how it is. With the passage of time and a passable head on one's shoulders, it evens out in the end. I found a delightful seamstress in the Earth Sector, eventually. I daresay my first impression is much improved.
Re: video;
[he regards the feed for just a moment]
And to whom do I owe my thanks for these most helpful tips?
[though the cleaners came first, he was far more concerned about finding the scrap metal for building. Idle hands made for a sky pirate that would lose all his touch.]
video;
[He nods at the feed, something between a respectful head-bow and a deference.] My name is Westley. Pleased to make your acquaintance, so to speak. [He doesn't consider this video thing a legitimate method of communication.]
Re: video;
Well, Westley, if you've nothing but compliments, I'm quite interested to know where this example of fine craftsmanship is.
video;
I wouldn't worry about the lukewarm welcome, however. It seems the natives also find us begrudgingly necessary.

Mesmerized also works.]
Heh...well...freedom is definitely one way of looking at it, at least your outlook is positive.
[Because, hey, it could probably be worse...
...moving on to the more serious questions at hand Makoto gives Balthier a more thoughtful slant.]
Not too sure about cleaners, I always clean my own clothing by hand so I'm probably not the right person to ask unless you don't mind someone else doing your laundry. [She's a natural domestic.]
You might be able to find scrap metal in the Metal or Fire sectors, given that they're among the wealthier sectors. Occasionally goodies will wash up...or rain down on your head and you can wait for these special events.
[Tapping her chin thoughtfully now.]
Erm...the Wood sector is home to carpentry so you'll probably find some tools, though I wouldn't put your money on anything beyond basic building tools...it's more likely they'd have hammers and hand saws as opposed impact drivers and wood routers.
Re: video
I'd heard of scrap being available in the fire district, but the tools I'd need to manage it are greater than a hammer and a wood router. Likely, I'll find my tools in the same sectors I'll find the metals.
I'm not one for carpentry.
video
Hm...well...since the Metal sector is more technologically advanced it would probably take some heavy duty tools to build it up. I'd start pumping the natives for information there if that's what you're looking for. I've only ever needed the basics for home repairs...sort of a Jack of all trades, master of none in that department. I'm competent enough to fix a sink!
[Hey, she's proud of that achievement! She's a self taught plumber.]

And my name's Asbel.
