[When the feed comes on, Leia spends more time fiddling with it than actually saying anything--adjusting the camera angle, inspecting the device, etc. She wants to make sure she's doing this right! This kind of technology is beyond what she's used to. When she's finally satisfied with it, she gives a bright smile.]

Right, sorry about that. [She clears her throat.] So, hi there! My name's Leia, and I'm pretty new here. I can't say that being dragged into some kind of war is my idea of going some place new, but it is what it is, right? Not like I was busy with my own important matters or anything...

[Despite her attempt to remain positive, she kind of tapers off at the end. Being told you're supposed to fight in a war is a big deal!! Even so, she won't let that get her turn down, and after a moment comes back in full force.] Still! From what I can tell, it doesn't seem like we're always in some kind of trouble here. I know it's kind of a silly question to ask, but what do you guys do here in the meantime? I'm up for hearing about anything honestly. As neat as it is living in a tree house, I figure I should find something to do here when I'm not fighting in some kind of war apparently.

Hey Leia, name's Terry and welcome to turtle island. Can't say much for other people, but personally I like trying to figure out the Kedan language and exploring the different city sectors.

Nice to meet you Terry, and thanks for the welcome! Language though, huh... I'm not sure about something like that, but exploring definitely sounds up my alley. I'm guessing there's a lot to see here?

Oh yeah, definitely. Judging from the treehouse comment, I take it you live in Wood Sector? Those Kedan probably mentioned it, but there are a few other sectors to explore in the city. And outside the city is open land...uh, turtle land. You get use to the turtle thing faster than you think, trust me.

I dunno, the fact that we're living on a giant turtle is weird no matter how I think about it. [one does not simply get over THE TURTLE.] But yeah, it's the Wood Sector! Is there anything particularly neat in this part of the city, or is everything cool in another sector?

I don't know a whole lot about Wood, but the trees there aren't like the ones elsewhere. The sectors are pretty obvious with their naming scheme. Fire Sector is decorated in red colors, Water Sector has canals to boat on, Metal is industrial buildings -- you get the idea. It's all cool in my book.

Well, I guess that means it's easy to figure out what sector you're in, right? And with there being so many sectors... Yeah, it sounds like there's a ton of stuff to go see! [SHE'S PUMPED FOR THIS even if she doesn't want to actually be here she's definitely going to try to make the most of it.]

Ah, yeah, totally. Don't bank on my words too hard, I've only been here for less than a month, but this place sure does look like it has a lot to explore. Kind of like out of a fairytale.

Most people find some sort of job to do. Do you have any talents in particular?

Not anything in particular, really. [And boy does she wish she had some.] I was studying nursing back home, but I haven't really done anything with that in a while either.

Well, if you feel like picking it up again, there's a clinic run in the Earth sector. I know one of the nurses there.

Yeah, I think that might be something to check out! It's not like I know what else to do here after all.

You'll figure things out. Even these strange devices-- it all comes with time.

Where are you living?

[She laughs a bit sheepishly.] I sure hope so! This thing seems like it could come in handy, so hopefully it won't take too long to get the hang of it.

I think they called it the Wood Sector? Or at least that seems to make the most sense for giant tree houses.

You will. There's nothing like it in my world, and now I don't even have to think twice.

That's where I am too. It's very comfortable-- an a lot quieter than the other sectors.

[Aww, the fumbling with the console is kind of sweet. Septimus can sympathize; he hadn't seen anything remotely like this before coming here. A year here has gotten him used to it.]

For general occupation? We all have to work for the community in some way; some of us find the offered jobs boring and look for other ways to use what talents we have.

Or we make our own work and projects. [He's done both.]

[He smiles.] I admit, gathering fruits or some such is not my idea of engaging work. I found a way around it.

Any number of things. Some people have set up businesses, or begun research into many different subjects. The local language is one. Others have found volunteer work, some of us are organizing a hospital. Some are organizing to prepare for the war we were recruited for.

I think there's even a boy who was putting some kind of live theatre performance delivered by the audio of the consoles.

A live theatre performance? That definitely sounds like something to go see at least! [Is she much of a performer herself? Probably not, but hey, it sounds fun to see.] Although about that hospital--is there not one here already, or did you guys just want one that was your own?

Welcome to Keeliai! [He smiles at her. He can remember first coming here, and so an everyone else.] I'm Billy, it's nice to meet you. There's so much stuff to do here! A ton of stuff, it's going to take you awhile to explore the different sectors.

But you came at a really good time? Since we're at this place and everything, it's really nice to get out and look around, before we're back to just the turtle.

Oh yeah, that's true. I'd only heard about the turtle mostly, but I guess I should save exploring the sectors until after we're not at this place anymore.

Yeah, a ton of stuff. [He grins back.] I've been here a few months, and I haven't gotten bored yet. Not just the sectors, there's the turtle head, too, and going to the edge of the shell. Just don't try to swim out, it won't work out.

But yeah, you should! We're never at a place very long, before it's just us again. Last time we were at this ghost city underwater. It was kind of nuts. This place is a little better, just because we're not living in a bubble.

Yikes, I'm glad I got here when I did! A ghost city underwater sounds kind of spooky.

They have, but no one ever talks about it. But they do live to tell the tale? [He's joking. Sort of.] At the turtle's head... you can kind of talk to Asti, if you're able to do that kind of thing? But it's just so peaceful, and calming there. It's a good place to sit and think.

It was a little bit? But not that bad! There were ghosts, but they weren't scary, haunted house ghosts. More like people walking around that wouldn't talk to you.

A good place to sit and think... I can't say I'm really good at either of those things, but it sounds like a nice place anyways. [Although it's more like she doesn't really want to sit and think about things right now. She knows she'd only get frustrated.] I'll check it out when I can.

Oh, that's it? People who wouldn't talk to you? It sounds more like any other big city then, y'know?

[He nods. Billy is really good at sitting and thinking. Maybe too much, but he can't help it. There's just so much that goes on that he needs to sit and be quiet for awhile.]

Sort of. [He laughs.] I'm from a big city, so I'm used to that. But this was different, way different. You could walk through these people. It was just... wrong. Kind of.
