[This is a risk. Not everyone likes him and he knows at least one that probably wants him dead. Still, he won't sit and hide just because of some injuries. Besides Notch makes for a wonderful bodyguard.

Hawke really should be in bed instead of in front of his console, but here he is. He looks better but only barely. There's bruising where his head struck the wall and his left arm hangs in a sling. If he looks grumpy it's because he is. Hawke hates how useless these injuries have made him but he refuses to use what few potions he has on anything not life threatening.

After a beat he lifts a scribbled note.]

I need a hand. Who wants some work?

[Man this sucks.]

[And she's picking up the trend of writing on notes and holding them up. Nilin's expression remains bland as ever, though she does arch her eyebrows in question.]

What's the problem?

[Hawke, on the other hand, smirks at her.]

I can barely hobble around my house let alone do actual work. It's driving me insane.

[She can't help but smirk in return. Faintly, sure, but it's there.]

You? Work?

[Nilin has her moments. She smiles a little more at that and writes another note.]

How about you tell me if you need anything; food and the like, and then you can tell me about this 'work' once I get there.

[Yes good, soon he'll have her smiling in no time.]

Hey I have to do something besides stand around and look handsome.

[Hawke looks like he's about to chuckle but stops himself before he scribbles another note.]

Food is good. Carrying groceries has become a pain. And maybe someone who can cook with both hands.

[And she rolls her eyes. Gosh Hawke, stop whining.]

I'm not your slave, nor am I about to become one.

[But she will get him food and help out a little with the cooking.]

[He winces but it's in jest.]

Must you always cut so deep? Besides I'm offering to pay.

[There's a hint of surprise in her face when she reads that. Amusement too, but as per usual she keeps it in check.]

Don't tell me a cook is what you were after when you said work?

Just an example. There's a lot I need to get done and broken bones aren't helping with that. Hard enough just leaving my suite.

Alright, alright.

[The words are voiced out loud and somehow manage to get through without any issue. Immediately after the image distorts and takes a second or two to come back. Nilin frowns and writes another note.]

Be there soon. Anything specific you need?

Spare blankets and pillows. Bandages too if they can be spared. These ones are getting old.

[And she frowns.]

You are changing them, right?

[He tries to look innocent.]

I'm keeping them clean at least.

[Please tell her he's joking.]

Hawke!

[So much for writing on notes. That one word gets through loud and clear.]

[Hawke winces, not from pain but from her rebuke. Sounds like he's in trouble then.]

So I suppose that's a yes on the bandages then?

Yes. I'll be there soon. Does that dog of yours need anything?

[Just how much furniture has Notch eaten while Hawke has been down for the count?]

Unless you've got a nice bone for him he'll be fine I think.

[Though having something to occupy the dogs time would be wonderful.]

I'll see what I can find.

[Perhaps a ball or something, if she can manage it.]

You're my hero.

[That gets a smile, and a real one at that. Nilin looks to the camera and shakes her head, amused.]

[Hawke flashes her a genuine smile in return. At least he can make someone smile during this whole mess.

Behind him Notch barks but it comes out more as a blast of static.]

Notch thanks you too.

[She chuckles lightly and tries not to look too humoured as she writes another note and holds it up.]

Save your thanks for if I actually find something you need, Notch.

[To Hawke's comment, she'll just be staying quiet thank you very much.]

[The hound jumps onto the table, his front legs holding him up, and looks into the camera. Anyone can tell that the dog is excited right now.

Nilin may say nothing but Hawke remains smiling at her.]

We have faith in you.

[Stop that, Hawke.]

Try not to do any more damage before I get there.

[And with that, Nilin cuts the feed.]
