Everyone,

I've come across some information that you all need to know. However, I do not trust this network to be a stable line of communication.

Give me a location and I'll meet with you.

Let me know.

[Annabeth is on the screen - she's cut up in a few places, like something shattered too close to her face, but it's healed over a few days; her expression is steely and hard. More bad news, and that's just brushing the surface.]

I know the location of Evastelei. I'm not telling you where. [She pauses. She hates potentially using the network like this - she knows Malicant must be watching, so part of that you is definitely at him. But she needs help here. There might be someone who can figure out what's up with Eva, or maybe even a way to help. It doesn't make it any less nerve-wracking.]

But she's unconscious. She has been, since our city-wide collective blackout. [Her mouth draws into a line. It's risky, admitting her state (again, because of Malicant; she never did figure out their exact connection). But nothing is going to change if she keeps it to herself. Maybe he already knows.] We need to wake her up. If anyone thinks they might - know something about magical comas, please tell me.

[She's also aware that her tone, her words, all of it implies some sort of relationship with Eva. For the first time she's somewhat admitting to it publicly, she's not quite so nervous. Maybe it's because she feels like she's been laying low lately, and there are more new faces around than familiar ones.]

Everyone.

[That's about all anyone will get for a greeting.]

I was wondering... is there anyone out there who could teach me Kedanese? I've been meaning to learn for some time now but never quite found time. Now I find myself in need and somewhat regretting putting this on the backburner for so long.

[Have yourselves a tiny smirk.]

For those who don't know me, my name is Nilin. At the least, someone to help me translate something would be excellent.

[For most, that's the end of her message. To Bucky, Sharon and Annabeth, an unhackable message is sent their way.]

[100% locked to Bucky, Sharon, Annabeth.]
I'd like to speak with you all in private, if that's possible. There's some things I'd like to discuss in regards to our adventures a few months back.

[50% encryption to Nilin]

We should talk. Think I may have actually found something useful for once.

[50% encryption to Skulduggery]

Maker I hate this thing. Skul, Akito and I came across something of interest. Did you go into that library?

[End encryptions]

Let's keep this simple so I don't have to play with this thing much longer. Who here visited the library on the island?

[He pauses for a moment.]

And someone tell Evandau to clear his schedule. I need to talk to him.

[The video pops on to show Mike at the computer with a fairly impressive set-up off to the side, featuring multiple systems. River is tinkering with a circuit board behind him, hair and a second screwdriver tucked behind one ear with an intent look. When Mike starts to speak, she looks up from her work and listens as he addresses the network.]

Mike Weston. I’ve been working with River, Aya, and Rex to locate the source of the virus that Codename Lucifer exposed our network to some months ago. The bad news is it’s a self-replicating, mutating virus, which means it’s difficult to locate and even harder to neutralize. The good news is, we’re pretty sure we’ve found the origin and can use a program we’ve developed to start removing its influence.

This version of the code has a timed failsafe built into it - a kind of self destruct. The program will run for one week and then expire on its own, preventing it from being used anywhere else or by anyone else. Just us. The whole of the foreigner population, I mean. If it works, then we have what should be a permanent fix ready to install.

We need you. If you can read this, that includes you. In order for this to work, we need to install the program on as many systems as possible as fast as we can and then let the code do the rest. If it works, our network’s security and encryptions should be in working condition again. If you notice anything glitching or failure to encrypt, errors, anything.. we need to know about it right away.

If you have questions, ask.

[ooc: River may reply to any/all comments unless specified to Mike. Mike will reply to all unless specified to River.]

[This is a risk. Not everyone likes him and he knows at least one that probably wants him dead. Still, he won't sit and hide just because of some injuries. Besides Notch makes for a wonderful bodyguard.

Hawke really should be in bed instead of in front of his console, but here he is. He looks better but only barely. There's bruising where his head struck the wall and his left arm hangs in a sling. If he looks grumpy it's because he is. Hawke hates how useless these injuries have made him but he refuses to use what few potions he has on anything not life threatening.

After a beat he lifts a scribbled note.]

I need a hand. Who wants some work?

[Man this sucks.]

[ Knowing that video, audio, and text are all unreliable, Akito decides to try mixing things together - instead of dictating via video, he holds up written notes for ten seconds at a time; enough so that if the video or audio glitches, there should still be enough visible to read.

His printing is a mixture of straight, architectural angles and round cursive, and he accents the corners of each page with small doodles or birds and turtles and mechanical parts.

Altogether the notes read: ]

Since technology is unreliable right now is there a foreigner postal service set up that we can use?
If there isn't, could something be set up? Maybe we could use the welcome center as the main base for delivered messages if that's okay with the welcome center owners.
Sort messages by sectors
Have them delivered by trusted people two times a day with 24hr pick-up option.
Not the most secure method, but better than a hacked network ne?

[The feed kicks on to Nilin looking a little weary. Her day thus far hasn't been a good one and it's starting to show.]

Can anyone tell me where in this place I can get a drink? A good drink, mind you. The last bar I found tried to serve me something resembling dishwater.

[And it tasted what she imagines dishwater would taste like, too. There's a pause, and with a light sigh, Nilin speaks again.]

And, to the anonymous voice who spoke up when I first arrived. I'm listening.

[This time, she'll cooperate.]

[Hawke doesn't like these consoles. In fact he doesn't much like anything more technologically advanced than say, a crossbow. Unfortunately this city is full of gadgets and gizmos he doesn't understand. Nilin helped show him just how vastly out of his league he is when it comes to such things. If he's going to be here for the long haul though, he needs to adapt. To adapt, he'll need some help.]

So who here has any know-how with these console things? I'm tired of barely knowing what I'm doing with this thing. There's already enough things in this city that make me feel stupid. I don't need one more.

[And after a certain encounter he doesn't trust his fellow Foreigners as much as he once did. Plus it might be helpful to know these things when you're in the smuggling business.]

And does anyone know anything about mind control? More specifically on how to stop it?

[If that summoner is the least bit competent he'll be able to piece this together easily. The thought doesn't bother Hawke. Let him think Hawke is scared, but he doesn't make the mistake of underestimating people. One of the reasons he comes out alive after all his battles.]

[The feed cracks on with a rather tense looking woman, staring at you all.]

It seems I've arrived at the end of something major.

[Her tone is a little on the weary side, frustration seeping into her words whether she intends it or not.]

Tell me then, what exactly are we dealing with here? All explanations thus far have been a little lacking in detail. The sooner we wrap this up, the sooner I can get back to my own work.

[A beat.]

Is everyone alright? If we're going to be stuck in this together, checking as much seems a good start.
