[console | video/action] identity issues
[The video begins with the camera focusing not on a face, but on a very fancy, wide-brimmed cavalier hat. People who've been in Keeliai for a while will likely recognize this guy instantly. For those who haven't had the pleasure--
Meet Rue. Also, meet the small, fat, beautifully-colored songbird sitting on top of Rue's hat. It's currently singing the tune to the Beatles song Hello, Goodbye.
Rue's high-pitched, nasal English accent sounds much more aggravated than his usual laissez-faire attitude.]
Ravel, your bird is back. Kindly come collect it before I feed it to the giant wolf.
[Rue's face hardly ever shows on the camera. When he does appear it's a flash of powdered skin or rouged lips. He's wearing a lilac-colored silk frock coat to go with the cavalier hat, and a shiny black brooch holds a decorative feather on the breast of the coat. Nothing about this guy looks modern.
In the corner of the feed, on the chair behind and just to the side of Rue in the Hotel, a fluffy white cat appears. The cat leaps up to the top of the chair and perches, eyes locked on the bird, ready to pounce. Neither Rue nor the bird seem to notice yet.]
((ooc: For those who haven't suffered through Rue yet: yes, this is Erskine. He is, however, quite good at disguising his voice, and his appearance is currently magically altered. Also Rue is horrible and I apologize in advancebut not really))

Action!
Er-Rue?
[The cat pounces]
action;
Which means the cat is coming straight at Rue.]

Bad Cat!

[To his credit, Erskine manages to stay in character as the cat is landing right on his head. He doesn't even panic and flail at the cat to try to get said animal off of him--very calmly he reaches up and picks the cat up, the cat's claws bringing the hat along with it.
Underneath the hat, 'Rue' does not, in fact, look like Erskine. He looks a whole lot more like this guy in powder and lipstick. It's actually not a half bad look for him.]

Friend of yours?
[He's still keeping the voice up; the console is on and he's in public.]
no subject
[The cat turns to look at her and purrs softly, its eyes settling on the bird once more and the bird twitters angrily, ruffling its feathers.]
no subject
Shall we trade, then? Or would you rather keep Ravel's wayward feathery friend instead?
no subject
I'll take him.

Rue frowns and reaches up to tap the crown of his hat.]
Let's practice a little self-preservation, shall we?
[And then he focuses on Valdis and the cat again.]
So where did your friend there come from, my dear?
no subject
I have no idea. He just followed me home from the water sector.

[She as leaning toward 'doesn't care', the cat seemed far too intelligent to just not know. Most animals knew instantly that she wasn't normal and were afraid of her.
She frowned at Rue, not entirely pleased with the implication, despite knowing that he was joking.]
I don't think it's up to me.
no subject
[Aw, Valdis, he just meant you're a big puppy. Don't be like that.]
He does seem quite taken with you. I suppose you'll need to come up with a name, then? [He smiles and taps his hat again, near the bird.] Possibly something more original than Bird.

[For some reason it felt wrong to name the cat, and something was nagging her about it, like a whisper in the back of her mind.]
no subject
Something wrong, dear?
no subject
[The cat meowed loudly and she looked down at him.]
I just don't remember his name.
no subject
Remember? What do you mean, remember? I thought you said you didn't know the cat?
no subject
I don't.
[The cat stopped and released another mew, this one almost sounded sad.]
