[The video flicks on to show a tan-skinned teenager of indeterminate gender with shaggy grey-white hair. They look like until very recently they have been crying.]

Uh...hey, I'm Avery. Some of you might know me, I was here before for a couple weeks. Um, I just wanted to see if...if anyone else I know is here now too. Hayes? Reese? Mason? Landry? Finley? Come on, guys, please tell me you're here. I showed up with the cafe, so maybe you guys are here too.

[They wipe their eyes with their sleeve.] Also, there are some cats missing. Fourteen of them - there's a big fat white Persian named Mochi, and a sweet old lady cat named Countess Dracula, and a whole bunch of others... [They give the names (Jam Band? Hash Browns? Owl? Shunsuke? Kotik???) and descriptions of the other twelve cafe cats.]

Please let me know if you find them. I'm really worried.

[The feed snaps on to a worried looking teen. Makoto's not sure what to do, exactly, but she'll do all she can.]

Um, hi. I'm sorry. I haven't seen any of your friends-- At least I don't think I have but I can keep an eye out for them! The cats too! Do you know where on the turtle they could be?

[A beat.]

I'm Makoto by the way. It's nice to meet you.

No, I don't know where they could be - I don't know my way around yet and the cats are probably really scared and hiding. I hope someone I know replies. I'm...I'm not sure they're okay.

It's nice to meet you, though.

Oh.

[Not knowing is a horrible feeling. Makoto's in the same boat.]

Yeah, I can relate. My friend is...

[She shrugs, dismissing the thought.]

But um. What do your friends look like?

Um, Landry's really tall and dark and broad, kinda like a human sheepdog. He's really nice. Finley is kinda pixieish, with long dark hair. Reese is tan with blond hair and he's kinda short. Mason's our chef, she's really strong and tan with reddish hair and she doesn't say a lot but she's really nice. And Hayes is really shy and skinny and blond and he has glasses.

[Avery blushes a little on that last one.]

[Makoto shoots Avery a smile. It's a little nervous, but genuine.]

And, if they aren't here. Well, here isn't forever, y'know? You'll see them all again. I know it.

[Avery smiles at her.]

[And her smile relaxes a little.]

We've gotta stick together in this place. And... I know what it's like to have friends missing.

Oh, man. I'm really sorry. It sucks...I hope you find them.

They're... not here. Trust me, I've looked.

[But she keeps that smile firmly in place.]

That's okay though. If they're not here, then they're safe at home.

[She hopes.]

Yeah. Right? They're safe. They've gotta be safe.

[Any kind of hope is better than none.]

Exactly.

My friends are safe and your friends are safe and the cats are probably having a cat party in one of the alley's around here. Man, I bet they're having a great time.

[Makoto folds her arms defiantly.]

I ain't believing anything other than that.

[She can't afford not to.]

But yeah, I'm gonna go take a look around for ya. I'll let you know if I find anyone.

Yeah! A cat party! Man, I bet they found some nip and are living it up.

I mean, I don't really hit up cafes much but this might be the start of something.
