[Valdis looks tired, but more in an emotional way than anything else.]

Some of you may already know, but for those of you who don't. I am moving out of the Midnight Hotel. My friend, Wan, built a house in the Sky Sector, near the gardens, some time ago. That's where you will find me from now on. [A short laugh] I can't vouch for the cat though, he has a mind of his own.

[More solemn now]

The main reason for this is so I can be closer to the KPD and the Iron Circle, when it is completed. With that in mind, you may have noticed that I have not added anything to discussion regarding the Foreigner's Guild. This is because I have decided to join the Guild of Justice and Arbitration, [As was only fitting for the head of the KPD], and put the sponsorship of the KPD under its control.

It has come to my attention that the laws here are not always easy to uphold, [recent events had made that very, very clear]. But hopefully this guild system will be good for all of us.

Did you find out what kind of punishments she is considering for crimes committed under influence of dust?

I'm also interested in finding out exactly how the justice system is planned to work in it's entirety, really. Maybe I should inquire myself.

Mostly fines and jail time. No one is being put to death like some would have you thinking.

Eliyen has many resources that you might find helpful, but it seems little different from the human laws on my world.

I don't see jail time as being very utilitarian or just. Is there going to be some kind of advocacy? Someone who can step up to try to negotiate a different sentence for offenders?

There are lawyers, yes.

And where does the loyalty of these lawyers lie?

[ It was a new system, she felt these were valid questions. ]

Sorry, 20 questions. I'm just worried. I would have assumed that the new government would be erring on the side of compassion for dust victims.

I would suspect that their loyalties shift depending on the case. And by that, I mean that their job is to defend, or accuse a party. Their loyalty would lie in the understanding of the law and using the law to perform that job. Does that make sense?

[Don't worry, Sonja, Valdis still isn't entirely thrilled with it either.]

There are works at play that many do not understand. I'm not saying that its right, but I can't force it to change. I simply hope to be able to temper it.
