[There's an almost lazy arrogance in Sep's posture as he regards the camera, and a small smile on his handsome face. He seems incredibly pleased with himself--and he is. After a moment in which he clearly considers what to say, he lets out a quick, amused breath. His smile softens a little.]

For any new arrivals, and those I haven't met, I'm Sep. I didn't want to speak before I was certain I could deliver. Now I am.

I'm a healer. [The pause shows a brief flicker of distaste on his face, before settling into something more serious. He hates the word he's about to use.] Functionally speaking, I draw on the... magic in water. As such, at home we generally work with patients in a tub of water. For some, the more powerful can work without, but it's not our preference.

As far as specialty, I'm most familiar with injuries, any kind that needs attention. By my people's standards I am more skilled than most. [He frowns briefly.] Serious illness generally takes longer, and is more exhausting. And with injuries, there are limits. With any luck we won't have to face anything truly serious.

I know some people won't be quite as comfortable with healing by [almost invisible pause] magic as my people are. For us, it's as everyday as breathing. Obviously I'll respect your boundaries, whatever they are, though I hope you'll take the professional's advice.

[Faint amusement glitters in his bright green eyes.] I'll be working out of my suite in WA-3A. [It's just more convenient.] Come by whenever you need to, especially for emergencies.

[Magic is an entirely new concept to Finnick still, but the more he hears about it, the more interesting it becomes. Besides, it looks like this guy is his suite mate, so it doesn't help to be a little friendly.]

You can heal by using the water? [a grin.] I always knew it had special properties.

[Ah yes, the new arrival. And friendly enough.]

I'm rather fond of its peculiarities. [It reminds him of Isana.] But yes, I do. No one where you come from does?

No, I think people are healed the old fashioned way. Herbs, the skill of a person, medications. [Finnick frowns for a split second.] This magic thing is a little new.

[Septimus chews on his lip thoughtfully. Herbs makes sense to him. Medication also makes sense.

Two things, however, do not.] I think 'old fashioned' means two different things, for us. Healing is always based on the skill of a person, as far as I know.

The whole magic thing is a little new for me, hence "old fashioned". [It made sense to him, at least.] I would say so, considering the kind of skill it would take to use water to do that.

[He offers a smile.] I suppose it's all a matter of perspective.

Certainly there's some skill and power baseline, but... well, you'd be surprised how much variation there is.

Sounds about right to me.

[He laughs softly.] I'm surprised that it exists at all, actually.

[With intense curiosity:] Really? How so?

Something like that just doesn't exist in Panem. Nobody talks about magic. Everything that's done that's outside of our understanding is technology created by the Capitol, used only in the Capitol or districts that can afford it. [Finnick shrugs.]

What kinds of things does it do? [The political question can be laid aside for a moment. Even if Septimus' interest is now perked on that topic as well.]

Prosthetics, for lost limbs. Top of the line pain killers. Skin grafting. [Finnick's seen a lot of victors who had been seconds from death coming out looking practically brand new.]

[Sep listens for a moment, expression thoughtful. Finally:]

I'm not sure if we can manage quite as much as your technology [but mostly because he hasn't seen it] but yes. My people do that kind of thing with our crafting.

[Finnick almost wishes he had that kind of ability.] Can everyone where you're from do it?

Everyone has some kind of... magic [he can't stop hesitating, he hates that word so much] to greater or lesser extent. Different people have different specialties, too.

If there are people who can heal, then there are people who could kill with this kind of power too, right? [He's starting to get the idea that he is in way over his head with this magic stuff.]

[Sep opens his mouth--and stops.

He honestly hadn't thought about it. Slowly:] In all likelihood, yes. But with the ability comes a certain... susceptibility to the emotions of people around you. It would take a rare kind of mind to sustain that effort under the strain.

[Though I'd bet half the Crown treasury that Kalarus could do it.]

[Finnick's quiet for a moment, and a sad smile slips onto his face.] I think I've met enough people like that before.
