[Video] Backdated to yesterday
[Hellboy has a bad feeling about this. He’s been prowling around the barrier since the moment the Turtle hit bottom, and he hasn’t stopped since. The corpses in the water were unnerving, and when they started to stir in their watery graves, he learns he has every right to be worried.
Technology really isn’t his favorite thing. That’s why Hellboy tries his best to avoid using the network as much as he can. But seeing those horrible things pressing themselves against the barrier like a pack of hungry, undead kids in a candy store means it’s time to suck it up and try his hand at a PSA. If things really do end up going to crap, maybe it’ll count for something.
So early in the unwavering dark of an undersea afternoon, he stations himself in one of the console cafés somewhere near the edge of the city, doing his best to prepare for the worst.]
Hope this thing’s as zombie-proof as it is waterproof.
[Yeah… right. As if it’s ever that simple.]
Just in case anyone didn’t notice, we have a few visitors outside trying to drop by uninvited.
I’ve heard people have been able to travel in and out of the barrier pretty easily. That means there’s a good chance those things might find their way through.
My advice… don’t panic. Stay home, stay away from the barrier.
If anyone has enough firepower to blow up or burn a zombie, let me know. I know we’ve got some talented people out there. Would probably be a good idea to have people out and ready just in case.
[So this is Hellboy trying to be proactive without stirring up too much of a panic. It’s not his usual style, but he does the best he can. There’s really no way of preparing for something like this. But if things really do start going south, prepared or not, it’s gonna get ugly. So he’ll be out there, and he’ll be waiting.]

Can't think of a better way to spend an evening.

Does a bullet at least slow them down? I do have some grenades, but I wouldn't want to use them except if absolutely necessary.

[ He's already mentally taking stock of his ammunition. As soon as he gets off this call he'll be strapping on his armor plates and arming up. ]

[He hopes so. From the moment these things started waking up, he knew they'd need an army if worst came to worst. Obviously that's not something within their resources, so he'll take what he can get. How else would someone get their hands on grenades and armor? Unless he's just some weapon-happy idiot with grenades and armor. Both are likely, but he's hoping for the former.]

Special forces Marine.
[ Which was a lot easier to say than to explain Project Freelancer's independent status, or the fact he was no longer with the Project. In fact he'd been more of a mercenary than anything by the time he'd been brought here, but his training was what was in question. ]

I'm by the barrier, keeping an eye on things outside the city. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have some people out patrolling the streets.
[He knows zombies aren't the usual military fare, but much as he wishes, he can't be everywhere at once. This guy's about as close to a trained agent as he's gonna get around here.]

[He had a feeling. Good on you, pal. Stuff like this can shake even the staunchest military personnel. He's seen it happen more than once.]
Good luck.
[After this's over, he'll have to get in contact with him again. Maybe recruit him for Liz's Bureau cause. They could use people with military training.]
audio;
Well, she's seen this creature fight. Better than nothing.]
Your advice? You think we require it?
audio;
There's a long pause before he can think of the right way to phrase his response. But either way, he's sure she's bound to criticize that too. The tone of his voice is flat as usual, but with a small hint of strain that tells his patience with her is starting to wear thin.]
Plenty of people out there who think they might be able to take these things head-on. If you're smarter than that, great. You don't need my help.
audio;
It does not matter one way or another. Death changes nothing here. Let them learn from experience. It is the best teacher.
audio;
[You're saying this to a guy who's already died and come back before, not long before his venture onto the Turtle. Death always changes something. It touches you in ways that you'll never be the same again, puts a black, empty spot on your heart that you know will never be washed clean. Whether they'd just come back or not, he wouldn't wish that on anyone.
So her comment pisses him off more than a little, but the last thing he's going to do is bother getting existential. He's sure that would only be a waste of breath.]
Tell that to the few thousand zombies out there who want to turn us into lunch.
audio;
I don't imagine that listening is one of their acquired skills.
[Sarcastic humour. Her favourite kind.]
audio;
['least they have that in common. Too bad Hellboy's not in any kind of mood to give a crap. The scowl on his face says he thinks she's anything but.]
audio;
audio;
Listen, lady. I'm just trying to help some people, here. You don't like it, that's too damn bad.
audio;
So you cannot take the words of a detractor? How can you possibly hope to be seen as someone worth listening to or emulating?
audio;
No. I'm not gonna listen to someone who thinks letting people die is a great teaching aid. I don't give a crap if it's permanent or not.
audio;
[Annnnd she disconnects the conversation.]
audio;
Screw you.]
