[The video pickup doesn't show a person, other than in the background at the cafe, and not many, at that. But it does show an article.]

[It is a somewhat peculiar statuette, turned in such a way as to obscure significant details that may allow for its identification.]

[Then there is Robin's voice.]

Landfall seems to bring items that belong to people who are resident of Keeliai, so it is possible that this one may be property of somebody here. If yours, let me know.

How is the warming weather affecting you? And should I keep an eye on sunny spots or something of the sort and make sure you don't get exposed too long?

[Having already run across Annabeth with her sword, she hadn't expected to see something else familiar anytime soon. And yet, there is a familiar voice and the back of an all too familiar statuette. Having traveled many miles with that tucked in her pocket, taken out twice or even three times a day and become a welcome companion when away from home, there's no mistaking it.

Bryn fumbles at the controls of her console to respond.]

I believe that's mine. The other side of it, the man is smiling, yes? Almost smirking? There would be a stamp on the underside of the base as well...

[ The reply comes later in the evening, after the sun has set and Jack has woken. He's glad it's not text because his hands are hurting again, the joints tight and almost knobbed though on the other hand, video is almost as bad. He surreptitiously pulls his hood up before answering but it doesn't completely disguise the darkened hollows beneath his eyes, nor the faint blue-black mottling of his skin down the side of his neck.

Jack picks the easiest symptom from the growing list to answer Robin with, not a lie but far from the whole truth. ]

More tiredness... I'm sleeping the better part of the day now.

And no, that won't be necessary.

[She was so surprised by both the sudden message addressed to her and the content itself that she didn't even bother to check the encryption.]

[Maybe only somewhat familiar voice, Damian does change it, somewhat, when he is Robin.]

Have you consulted anyone who can do something to alleviate the situation? Since your energy seems mostly to go into... maintaining yourself operational.

I met him once in the aftermath of a 'movie watching' you had organized in your suite. You've been rather cross after people reacted negatively to the snow day.

It was a pretty safe conclusion that you'd be concerned over something going badly with him.

[He does stalk, and he does draw conclusions that actually make logic. You don't have to act so surprised, detective ~~in training~~ that he is and all.]

[She doesn't know who this is, so Bryn decides to play it safe.]

[ It's not that he's not grateful for those offers either and that shows in how he momentarily looks away from the screen, as though ashamed that he hasn't taken any of them up yet. Nor is he foolish enough to think that midday naps are ice baths are going to get him through a full-blown summer, not when he's already having trouble. But there's something else he's clinging to, something he isn't quite ready to give up just yet, and it's worth the stubbornness and the side effects of it. ]

Acknowledged. I'll be there in an hour and a half, is that all right?

[Beat. Stare.]

[THIS IS NOT EASY, ok? It's not like Damian has ever tried to take care of somebody before. But, for all his issue with Frost, letting him die, or whatever may happen, doesn't seem like a thing he should do. Or wants to do.]

And I'm... just trying to figure things out. This is new to me too.

[It wasn't so much the fact that he was wrong--because he wasn't--as it was the fact that a simply 'he's your friend and you care about him' would suffice. When he started going analytical on her, a small part of her wanted to prove him wrong just for the sake of defiance.]

[...okay, bad example. Not going there with the batbrat right now.]

And, actually, it was more I was getting pissed at people yelling at him for using magic. Two guesses why something like that would annoy me.

[Yes, well, 'he's your friend and you care about him' is very, very far from simple, for the batbrat.]

[... though he does raise eyebrows at the mention of Grayson. And the self-interruption.]

Of course he was.

At any rate, the rising temperatures don't affect him well, and he doesn't seem to focusing enough on avoiding them. I found him sitting in the sunshine a little while ago.

[Apparently, that means he doesn't take care of himself sufficiently, in this Robin's book.]

[Her face twists into a small frown at this. It was hardly news to her--there had been that night up on the rooftop--but the fact that Robin was coming to her with this....]

No. More a case of, he's not meant to live in such weather. And it's gonna get worse.

[So there was something wrong. Physically.]

[ He suspected, but getting confirmation would not only be a hundred times more uncomfortable than the symptoms, but he frankly didn't want anyone else to know. ]

... it's April, Zatara. Your guess as to how much warmer it will be in July is as good as mine, but August was actual island summer weather. Rainy, sometimes overcast, but summer.

Not exactly the season that would work with Jack Frost.

I don't know. I'm not sure he knows, himself, either. But I don't think it's going to be good.

[She knew what month it was. She knew it was going to get warmer. That still didn't answer her question.]

...he has been looking pretty tired lately... [Partially to herself, but loud enough for him to hear] ...I guess I just thought it had something to do with this whole rations business. And the fact that the kedan weren't letting him play with the children anymore.

[Not entirely true. She'd had some inkling of what was going on, judging by how the snow they'd created together had revived him.]

There has to be something we can do, right?

[Come on. Damian's trying to help, and if there is somebody who wouldn't overreact to Jack's guess...]

There is always something that can be done.

Keep an eye on him. I'll see what I can find out and what I can come up with as far as solutions go.

[ The sharpness of it makes him jump a little, having not expected it. But it also spurs a more definitive reaction. ]

It's my decision, okay? I just need a little more time.

[Normally, she would protest about having to be someone else's keeper. Or taking orders from him.]

[Extenuating circumstances kept her from saying a single word about either.]

Yeah, sure. Okay.

I can go check in on him right now. He should be home.

It would be if you had demonstrated better effort to self-preservation.

[Though the words are sharp, the tone is more clipped than aggressive or anything of that sort. Stating facts.]

What the weather is now is nothing to how warm it will be in a month, let alone by August. You don't have too much more time.
