[Percy is firmly established in Annabeth's suite again. He's frowning absently at the screen, almost like he's totally forgotten what he was going to say. Instead of words, you get the steady pop pop pop of him messing around with a sheet of bubblewrap in front of him. From the right angle, he appears to be popping it in the shape of a sword. Or a stick. Or maybe just a line.

All of a sudden, his hands stop. He glances at the camera like he's just remembered that it's on, and opens his mouth. Shuts it. Open it again] Hey, I think...I'm seventeen now.

[There's a brief moment of silence before a wide grin breaks out across his face. He laughs, and there's a certain relief in the sound.] Not bad for someone who wasn't supposed to make it past sixteen, huh? Oh man, how did I miss this?

[He leans in towards the screen intently, a certain determination stealing his features. Percy's ADHD brain has caught onto an idea, and it is Extremely Important that it be addressed Right Now] Okay, I know that things are really tight and tense right now for everyone, but this is...well, it's important. Or at least, it'd mean a lot to me. Does anyone know where I could get my hands on some blue food dye? Or like, something that dyes...food...blue.

[That's the same thing, Percy.] I can pay. Or, I don't know, blast you with salt water. I guess no one really wants to swim in the canals right now. [Briefly his expression falls, reminded of what he sees as his failure in trying to save the Water Sector] But yeah, if anyone knows where I could get some, that'd be great.

Yeah, me too. [There's a laugh] No, it's cool. My mom's ex once said that there was no such thing as blue food or drink. So she kind of went out of her way to prove him wrong. She brings - she'd bring me blue candy from work, make blue cookies, find blue drinks. And we'd have blue birthday cake. [His tone is still warm, but a little more subdued]/small> It's kind of like a reminder of home. And that anything's possible.

Oh, that's... pretty sweet. [He's caught between the cuteness of the act and that he would appreciate his mother enough to remember her in times like these, and the sadness to think that he must be missing them.]

I really hope you manage to find some. Your mother sounds like an impressive woman- then again she must have been, if she managed to catch a god's attention.

[Percy opens his mouth and then shuts it with a wince, turning a little red] Oh man, can we please not talk about my mom and her catching my dad's attention? [Parent sex XC]

But yeah, she's definitely impressive. She's the strongest woman I know, and the best. [A thoughtful pause] Except for Annabeth, that is, they're kind of on a level. [HI PERCY IS A GOOBER WHO LOVES THE LADIES IN HIS LIFE]

Your girlfriend is definitely strong, she reminds me a lot of someone I know. [His wife. And his mother. He's beginning to see a pattern here.]

Have a nice birthday, Percy.

You know Annabeth? [Percy's ADHD means that he can be a bit slow on the uptake at times.]

I have talked with her a couple of times, she seems really nice. All of you kids seem nice, actually.
