VIDEO;
Hello everyone. [The girl on the video is in her early teens at most, and at face seems completely unbothered by her surroundings. She supports her chin in both hands, eying the console like she's waiting for an answer.]
Not so bad, for a kidnapping. Never been on this side of one before though - usually they issue terms way before this, and the Emperor seems like the one to ask. Do you think they're aiming for some kind of quota before they tell us what we're here for?
[She sits back from the console and crosses her arms, tapping the fingers of one hand against her crisp shirtsleeve. She's wearing the clothes she arrived in - a suit vest, a white button-up shirt, slacks and a tie, all carefully pressed and clearly tailored to fit.] Either way, probably some or all of us will die, or it wouldn't be a such a secret.
[She leans in again.] Oh! I almost forgot. The army people here - is there anyone willing to spar with me? Anyone with martial training, really. Preferably field experience, black ops, that kind of thing. Being here is no reason to slack, right? [One eyebrow up, waiting for her invisible class to give the wrong answer.]
[A cheerful wink.] If anyone knows a good place for noodles, I'd appreciate it!
[And she signs off.]

Actually, I'm not really sure if it counts as a kidnapping? Don't you need a kidnapper for that? Unless the giant turtle kidnapped us, but I haven't been able to ask it yet.
Noodles, huh? [YES FOOD TALK.] There's this really, really amazing spicy noodle place just a few blocks down from the palace! There's also something that's kinda like a soba place not far from there. And then there's a whooooole bunch of what I think are Chinese noodle places, and those places are everywhere.
[video]
So we've been kidnapped. Just because we don't know the kidnapper doesn't mean the definition is without application.
[And then dignity gives way to curiosity.] What's soba?
[video] 1/2
[video] 2/2
Anyway, uh, soba is a Japanese food! It's buckwheat noodles with veg, broth, meat...you can eat it with all kinds of things! It goes really good with sukiyaki, too! ...Which, uh, is like a hotpot?

I'd be happy to spar with you. I'm Asami.
[And by 'spar' she means 'look out for you so no one else comes and beats up on what is obviously a poor defenseless child gosh.]

[Her smile is totally encouraging.]

That depends on what kind of training and experience you have to work with. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I don't have much time for amateurs.
[ ...yeah, she has bad feelings and a good guess, but she's keeping those to herself for the moment. ]

I requested professionals with experience because I am one. Ma'am.

[ He knows better than to question the bit about sparring, though, because he's no stranger to child soldiers. ]
What kinda sparring we talking?
video;
[Because this explains it all.]
Mostly I've worked with the GIS. Ah, the Gruppo di Intervento Speciale - part of the Carabinieri?
video;
[ nope, none of that is familiar, but he's not surprised by it. ]
Afraid I haven't heard of it, but that seems pretty common anymore.

Your name is Triela, right? How old are you?
[He had made a point of reading through/listening to everything that had come before his response. This had involved a degree of hacking to get into some of it, which he respected and noted for later. Thankfully the lack of technology seemed to make certain aspects of hacking easier.
As to his question itself, it's not condescending or doubtful. If anything, his expression is tight as he tries to get answers without asking too many questions.
She had asked about black ops and military personnel specifically when asking for sparring partners. She spoke of being trained and proficient with weapons and hand-to-hand and had referred to herself as a a 'professional'. Aaron was from a specific ilk that made this scenario all too likely, even if he didn't much like it.]
[video | encrypted 100%]
[He sounds like Clint Barton, but the cadence is wrong. Where and when he pauses, the beats are all different.]
[video | encrypted 100%]
Call me Aaron. How old are you and why the hell would you jump into sparring matches with people you know nothing about? [He studies her, his tone even.]
Because if you're as professional as you'd like yourself to be assumed, jumping into any manner of combat against someone else, without at least the slightest of information on them and or their abilities...
[He shakes his head. He doesn't know what it is exactly, but this kid brought out the military in him like an itch he couldn't quite reach.]
And I don't doubt that you've had training, Triela, but that's hardly the manner you should use to gauge those around you. Whether we're already dead, dreaming, or whatever else you decide to believe, throwing yourself at people without even the slightest bit of information is foolhardy at best, suicidal at worst.

It's not like I figured we'd all make it out okay, but did you have to blare out 'die' on the network like that? It gives me the creeps.
