Verse 07 -- Voice
[The feed's just a voice one today. Jehan wants it to be quick and to the point]
I apologize for this announcement, as it could not possibly come at a worse time, but I feel it is my duty as his friend to let others know. If you knew Grantaire, he is no longer here. It is possible that his disappearance is connected to the rapid decay of Asti in these last few days though I do not think that is likely to be the cause.
[Still, you never know.]
It would not hurt to keep in contact with friends here, should this illness lead to more disappearances.

Honestly, Enjolras, I do not know that we should hope that Grantaire returns. He is doubtlessly much happier in the afterlife that awaited him, away from this dying land.

You'd suggest it's best not to regret then, and you probably are right. I hope his soul's found peace at last then. He certainly has earned such.

[Well, his life. Empty save for Enjolras and their friends, drunk, miserable.]
...enough that he should have been given peace after his death and not the misery he had here. Of course, all of us should have found peace but I am certain you understand my meaning.

[There is a part of Enjolras that suspects that he made things worse during the first chance at life Grantaire had, and to hear the second was not much better for Grantaire, is, well.]
Then I can do nothing less than be glad for his sake, somehow, if he truly is past this. I will miss the chance we may have had at something more like friendship here.
[There is a pause as Enjolras considers something else that he might say. He would like something that is TRUE, and that will possibly help Jehan even a small bit.]
You were closest to him of us here I think. I can imagine how this must feel for you. If there is something I might do for you right now, please, simply name it.

I simply need time, I believe, to recover from the stress of the last month and a half. I...helped him through the worst of his illness brought on by the lack of wine. To suddenly be without not only that task but Grantaire himself is...disorienting.

[There is a bit of an awkward pause as Enjolras considers how to phrase this, how to try to tell Jehan that he would miss him if he was gone and values him all the more now but...what finally comes out is a bit different.]
