[He laughs, and steps back from the device, standing with his hands on his hips. He's in his suite in the Wood Sector. Pretty nice place, if you ignore the lack of sonic-ing abilities.]

Right. So. I'm the Doctor, just the Doctor, thank you, and I suppose I was brought here, same as all of you. Now who's got something interesting to tell me about their time here?

[A pause, and time to ruminate over a question that's been in his mind since he got here.]

And does anyone know what this planet's base is? Doesn't seem like most other ones. A bit harder, strange in places. What's it made from?

[It's about the trust, isn't it? The trust they have in you to protect them or to save them, and then when they die, you've failed them. Bloody awful.]

Some people think I'm exaggerating when I say that being unable to save someone felt like killing them, but it's a difficult subject. I admire the people who can sustain such a career long-term.

There was one several months ago who called himself the Doctor too. I didn't realize taking that title as a name could be so common.

[It's more of an idle musing, wondering if they're connected somehow.]

As for something interesting, I have learned magic during my stay... though it doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Never mind that he misunderstood what the Doctor said. Or the fact that he's now getting distracted by something that's taken his mind a little longer to process than the rest. ]

You're right. [Of course. It's still the Doctor, after all, behind in timeline or not. Jack looks thoughtful, leaning back and pressing his thumbs against his lips.] It wouldn't make sense for you to get pulled from the TARDIS, by the Rift or a supernova either one. No way the old girl'd let that happen.

[He pauses, looks up again.] What about Rose? She's been here longer, but- where was she before she got here?

[It's the Doctor. Not her Doctor. But the Doctor none the less. If anyone can get them out, can help this world, it's him. Her heart flutters with joy at the sight and sound of him and she rushes over to the console as fast as she can.

Clara opens up the console, sets it o voice, opens her mouth and... nothing comes out. She tries three times to find her voice only to end up in nothing. Back in the void, she had a purpose to fulfill. She had to speak to the Doctor, to warn him, to save him. But now... what to say? There's plenty to say, of course, but she can't seem to figure out how to begin.]
