001 ∞ [Video]

[The video feed pops on to the sight of a dashing- if he might say so himself- man in his seeming mid-thirties, grinning widely at the camera; he has a somewhat period look about him, dressed in a button up, suspenders, and a greatcoat that speaks of war, but there's a spark in his gaze that speaks of mischief. After all, he's taken some time to read through recent activity on the network, and he's come across one very familiar name. It's a name he had not expected to hear again for some time, but if the tone of his voice when he calls it out is any indication, he's not disappointed in the least.]

Rose Tyler: what's a beautiful girl like you doing stuck in a place like this? [Jack gives a cheerful laugh, his grin stretching wide across his face.] It's been awhile. What do you say, you, me, a little celebration for our reunion?

[His eyes all but twinkle, and then he speaks again, addressing not Rose this time, but everyone else.] As for the rest of you; Captain Jack Harkness. [One hand raises in a half salute.] At your service. I'm sure it'll be a pleasure to meet each and every one of you. Until then, I'd love to hear more about this place, this- "In Between" business.

[Sup, Jack, you've got a big red dragon smushing her snout against the screen with interest.] Oh, you are a captain? Of the army, or the navy, or do you have a dragon as well?

[There's a sight you don't see everyday. He gives a quick grin.] I volunteered for the Royal Air Force. Can't say I've flown anything as exciting and lovely as a dragon, though, sorry.

I do not know what that is, but it sounds rather like the Aerial Corps. [She settles back a bit, steam overtaking her screen for a moment.] You are from England as well, then? Excellent, there are far too many French on this turtle.

[We will assume that this is a bit after she ran into the Doctor and things are calmed down enough that she's able to almost function decently. Because otherwise she would be a hot mess of emotion. Which she actually is at this point, because oh my god, it's Jack. Jack Harkness, the one she and the Doctor picked up during the war and brought along with them through time and space. The Jack Harkness that she cares for so very much, and hasn't seen in so very long.

The look on her face is one of utter disbelief.]

Jack? You too?

[But despite the fact that he's currently trapped on a turtle, the selfish part of her is glad he's here. She's missed him desperately, so it's all too easy to grin the same as him, giving a playful mock salute.]

Look at you, just the way I remember. Jack Harkness. [She says his name in a playful lilt, so very proud that he found her name and addressed a message just for her.]


Took you long enough to get here, though! I've been here all on my own, fighting being possessed and there were fires, and all kinds of things!

[Of course that isn't his fault in the slightest, so she laughs, shaking her head.]

[She isn't just the way he remembers; watching her now, she seems younger than she had during their last encounter with the Daleks, before she'd returned to her parallel world with the other Doctor. Jack has enough experience with timelines to watch himself for the moment, until he knows a little more about when she's from. So instead, he keeps that bright grin in place. Not that it's at all hard, because her energy is infectious, as its always been.]

'Me too?' Don't tell me that means you've not happy to see me? [Just listening to her joy- it's been a very long time for Jack, since he's gotten to see her like this. Even during their last encounter, it'd been more about defeating the Daleks, saving the planet, than anything like this. It soothes an ache in his heart that he's ignored for so long.]

Sounds like you've been busy getting into all kinds of trouble. I suppose I'll have to stick around to bail you out from here on.

[An American that volunteered for the RAF? You bet your ass that gets Steve's attention.]

What war? [A pause, while he puts his thoughts in order and suppresses a coughing fit.] When were you with the RAF, I mean.

[Jack doesn't answer immediately, considering how best to answer, and how much information he wants to freely give. He settles for a partial truth for now, although you can't tell by his voice.]

World War II. [He pauses, then takes a guess.] And you?

[Captain, you did two things. A) you're acting almost exactly like Jim (WARNING BELLS, WARNING BELLS) and B) you mentioned Rose who he has basically adopted as a member of his magical ragtag group of merry space wanderers so you are automatically being Scrutinized with all Jim's captainly perfect-hair... ness.]

Jim Kirk. Also Captain. Welcome to Keeliai, hope it's not too crowded for you.

[A) You haven't seen anything yet, Captain, B) Jack knew her first, and C)... Kirk's scrutiny has nothing on the Doctor. And oh yeah, Jack's hair is better. The other captain gets a confident and cocky smirk with a bit of charming thrown in the mix.]

It seems charming so far; very quaint, nostalgic. Especially with such lovely company. [Hint... he doesn't mean just Rose.]

Haven't seen her in awhile, but yeah. [His smile is warm; the fact that she's already made close enough friends for him to receive this kind of reception at mentioning her name doesn't surprise him.] And you?

[ Hello, Jack. You have a dirty little street kid scowling. ] Rose ain't need nobody kissin' her, she's fine.

[It's a good thing Jack has somewhat of a soft spot for kids. Add in the fact that the kid's standing up for Rose Tyler- well, Jack's just amused, something that shows clearly in the look he gives to imp through the screen.] I think you're a little young to be thinking about whether or not Rose is kissing anyone.

It's nice to meet you, Captain Harkness. My name is Kara Zor-el. [ And despite having more biological needs than she did a month ago, she's feeling pretty chipper as she smiles at the newcomer. ]

I'm a friend of Rose as well.

[Kara gets an ever so charming smile, and a flirtatious wink.] Lucky me, seems Rose isn't the only lovely young woman trapped here. It's wonderful to meet you, Kara Zor-el; any friend of Rose's...

[She laughs. What a ridiculous thing to say.]

Captain then? Fancy title or real rank?

Well, Clara. [There's a spark in his eyes as he looks at her, mischievous and playful.] The pleasure is most certainly all mine. I'd offer a kiss on the hand, but- [He gestures to the screen, chuckling lightly.] I don't think the console would appreciate it was much as you might.

[A wink follows her question.] Real. World War II.
