Voice;

Some time ago, I posited the idea of building a ship. While it was met with derision by some -- [You know who you are.] -- recent events have convinced me that there is no other reasonable course of action.

We are entering a time of ease now, and I feel very strongly that we must act before the next catastrophe arises. While we have the opportunity and the materials, we can construct a proper ship. This will give us the freedom to explore beyond the turtle's shell, and give us a means of escape, should it sicken again.

I believe there is enough wood from the homes destroyed when the satellite fell to salvage and build a modest ship. It will not hold all of us, but it is a fine start. With more mobility, I believe we can find the materials we need to make a proper go of it.

For those who question my qualifications, I am an Admiral of his Majesty's navy, formerly in the employ of the East India Trading Company. I have more than the proper qualifications to oversee the construction and voyages of such a vessel.

--You may want to speak to my captain, William Laurence, if you have not already; he was himself in the Royal Navy for many years, and captained the H.M.S. Reliant, before I was hatched.

[Pause.] And I have spent a great deal of time aboard ships myself, and could offer assistance, if you should want it.

[hahaha WHOOPS oh well]

Pray, do; I am sure our navies cannot be so very dissimilar, despite the differences between our worlds.

Then it is yours; I cannot promise I recall all the details of construction, but of course I have seen ships in drydock before, and perhaps I might draw what I can remember.

[TOTALLY THINKING OF DOING EVERYTHING EXCEPT BEING A LIVING BUS]

[no u

His eyes widen briefly and his ruff flares with sudden indignation, but after a moment he reins in his temper with some difficulty and shakes his head vehemently.]

You have it wrong: the Aerial Corps is an entirely different branch of the armed forces, and unaffiliated with the Navy. One might as well say that the Navy is only a bunch of ships, which belong to the Army.

[He snorts with some indignation.] Of course I can, if I am given one large enough--but I have a sand-table, which I might draw in, and that will perhaps be easier to use.

[Gosh James it's just like a Navy but in the air obviously]

Then you shall have it.
