[Kurt has spent some time looking over the network and thought about what it is he actually wanted to say. He's sat with one elbow perched on the desk area and a curious expression.]

Has anyone ever actually gotten beyond the barrier around the turtle? I know that people have gotten close and have apparently fallen unconscious, but has anyone attempted to jump beyond it?

[He leans back and leans further into the chair he's sat on.]

In theory, I should be able to get from our side to the other without much hassle. All I'd need to know is how far it takes before things happen to make people black out.

I know someone was talking about making a ship, sorry, I didn't catch your name, but if people do black out and if I can get through without anything happening, then I might be able to help people get through without losing consciousness. Assuming the reason for the ship was to also leave the shell and go beyond the barrier keeping us here.

I'd want to try it out before committing to anything.

[ McCoy does his best to look dignified despite the terrible and shameful embarrassment he feels inside having to publicly announce this ridiculous emergency. It doesn't help matters that his desk is covered in soft, cute little creatures that are softly trilling all around. ]

This is Leonard McCoy, Chief Medical Officer of the USS Enterprise. [ Yes, he's emphasizing that just so people take his warnings seriously as a highly-esteemed medical professional! And his affiliation with Jim can't hurt. Or can it? Oh God how many people actually like James T. Kirk? Shit Shiiit! ]

As some of you may have noticed, there's been a... contaminate leak in the Fire Sector. A foreign body escaped its... confines [ Fridge ] and has started multiplyin' at an excessive rate. [ And by excessive, he means the world is literally exploding with furballs. ] For those of you not in the Sector, they look like this [ He dutifully points to the puffballs on his desk. ]

Don't be alarmed! They're extremely docile, but in an unfamiliar and stressful environment, they begin to breed rapidly. Our Science Officer has calculated that they breed about every twelve hours [ 11.784 hours, but like hell McCoy is giving Spock the satisfaction of accurate fractions! ], producing anywhere from 8 to 12 at a time. Anyone with any kinda math skill can see that's a huge damn problem!

The best way to keep those furbags from eatin' you outta house and home and food is puttin' 'em on ice. It won't kill 'em, but it'll stop reproduction and slow down their life cycle.

If you have any questions, contact me or any StarFleet officer nearest you [ McCoy, Spock, or Jim will be more than happy to be assaulted by your questions. ]

McCoy out.

Some time ago, I posited the idea of building a ship. While it was met with derision by some -- [You know who you are.] -- recent events have convinced me that there is no other reasonable course of action.

We are entering a time of ease now, and I feel very strongly that we must act before the next catastrophe arises. While we have the opportunity and the materials, we can construct a proper ship. This will give us the freedom to explore beyond the turtle's shell, and give us a means of escape, should it sicken again.

I believe there is enough wood from the homes destroyed when the satellite fell to salvage and build a modest ship. It will not hold all of us, but it is a fine start. With more mobility, I believe we can find the materials we need to make a proper go of it.

For those who question my qualifications, I am an Admiral of his Majesty's navy, formerly in the employ of the East India Trading Company. I have more than the proper qualifications to oversee the construction and voyages of such a vessel.

For a group of individuals claiming to possess such a wonderful variety of talents and skills, you all seem incapable of anything but running around like a nattering clutch of sheep.

These random broadcasts of distress onto the network are disorganized. They're also worthless, unless specifically the right person happens to see your post. A single compilation of these complaints, easily referenced and comparable, would be much more useful in detecting patterns. Further, if there are individuals in specific crises -- for instance, a severe lack of food -- arrangements can be made to match them with those able and willing to ease their distress, in an attempt to discourage rioting.

[And now, a heavy sigh: he cannot believe he is doing this, setting himself out as a stalking goat, but someone has to. Well, if he were crasser, he could make a comparison to the Admirality and the direction excrement flows in any bureaucracy.]

I volunteer myself to organize and compare such a database, if anyone would like to register a complaint or request.

[A blond, pony-tailed man with discerning blue eyes peers into the camera, pausing momentarily as though he expected something significant to happen. And then he raises his eyebrows and quirks one side of his mouth in a facial shrug, apparently deciding to move on despite the lack of it.]

I suppose this is more efficient than quill and ink, but it lacks a certain panache, wouldn't you say? [Being that Westley's not quite certain who he's addressing, best to presume there's someone or another there.]

So, here we are. Not that I can particularly identify who "we" are other than myself, nor am I especially well-versed in where "here" is, but thus the point of my inquiry. [A small, thin smile at his humor, which somehow manages to come off as less self-congratulatory and more charming.] Perhaps someone might be so kind as to share whatever they feel is relevant to a relative newcomer.

Oh, and I nearly forgot.

If anyone can point me toward a blacksmith, that would be quite helpful.

[Combeferre's voice is quiet; a little resigned, but it won't do to grieve on the network. Certainly not in public.]

Michel Enjolras has left Tu Vishan. His rooms are empty. I must request that those of you who know Grantaire pray do not mention it to him; I am certain he will not take it well, at all, and he is already suffering as it stands. He shall be informed once he is less poorly.

I do not know what happens when one leaves this place, but I wish him well.

I have recently come into possession of a copy of a map of this place. It is no greatly detailed thing, more of a topographical map than any thing else. A thought occurs, however; who has seen more than vague maps of this place? If there are so many foreigners here, would not detailed maps be quite helpful? It seems as though things may be hidden; I should like to know your theories.

A note, as well -- I have not yet mastered the art of making an entry on these devices private. Is there a way to do so?

[It happens that at the moment when the connection is made, there is a hand in the way. His fingers are fumbling to try to turn the console on, and he doesn't realize that he has. When he does, he pulls his hand away and rubs his face. He's as pale as he was before landfall, and shaking harder. He looks sick, as he should given how poorly he managed his alcohol as of late. For a moment he's grinning, mostly at his own stupidity, dragging his hand over his face.]

Forget it, I did this to myself, begging be damned. Christ in Heaven, I would kiss my father's boots for a franc of his...

Forgive my candid speech, but a situation was recently brought to my attention. While I feel the content may be upsetting to some, it can not go unaddressed.

There is, to the best of my knowledge, no contingency plan should the turtle sicken further. Nor in the case that the situation with the Kedan grows intolerable. In either case, if we are away from land, which seems likely, there is nowhere for anyone to go. We would be, in effect, marooned.

What we need is a proper ship, or ideally, a fleet, to support the population in the instance that the turtle is no longer inhabitable. Am I correct in assuming that no one has begun this undertaking? As we are currently experiencing a time of plenty, it seems foolish to delay beginning any longer.

[This is only a video because Grantaire can't be bothered to fuss with his console right now. Getting onto the system's been difficult enough as is, with how much loathing his more sober, withdrawing self has for the rest of humanity and the like. It doesn't help, of course, that he's been spending every other morning bent over the toilet since his best attempts at rationing his own stash of wine and spirits began to fail. He may have never heard the term porcelain altar before, but he understands the sentiment deeply.

Now though, he's laughing. Not with amusement, but with a disgusted grimace that comes with a dark sense of irony. He's pale, doesn't look nearly as well as he did before, what with his body has been going through since the turtle-wide rationing began. His face is swollen around his eye and nose, and there's blood crusted around his nose and in his mouth. Alcohol withdrawal wasn't the only cause of his current state.]

Bien sur, this would happen the first time I've gone out in days. This is lovely. [His voice dripping with sarcasm, he spits blood into the napkin in his hand before pointing at his face.] This is what your amicable natives do to foreigners when stability begins to crumble. Vagrants are always the first to be blamed when the world goes to shit, and anyone who expects any differently is lying to themselves and everyone around them. Hopeful, optimistic lies like that get the innocent and naive killed. Luckily, I'm neither innocent nor naive, and can handle being bloodied by mongrels every so often. I only hope that I've not broken another tooth.

[He doesn't even bother signing off properly or with any salutation. He just shuts the connection with a wince and a roll of his eyes.]

[He would rather do this by text, but his English is still very awkward and he doesn't think that everyone he needs to contact would be able to read d'Angeline. Thus, he sits pale but composed, hands folded on the console in front of him.]

I am very sorry to announce that Mademoiselle Favrielle nó Eglantine is no longer present on Tu Vishan. My heart goes out to all who knew her- she was a very good friend to me and to many others, I am certain.

[He looks down, remembering what he has to say next and taking a calming breath, and then looks back up.]

She has given me the ownership of her business, and I hope that everyone working for her now will continue to do so- if we could have a meeting in a day or two, I think that would be for the best.

In addition, she has left letters and gifts for some of those who remain. [He reads the list of names out carefully.] Nita, Stephanie, Kyle, Oliver, Bucky, Bruce, Dorian, Henry, Inara, Sep, Peggy, Amon- there is something for each of you. Please contact me so that we can make arrangements for its delivery.

I have also been instructed to tell any ladies of her acquaintance that they may have what they like from her wardrobe.

[He can't make himself smile right now, so he just nods.]

Again, I am sorry to be the one to deliver this news. I wish I did not have to.

[James hasn't made a post since his first - in part because he's terribly lost. He has proper clothes, now, thanks to Favrielle, but it is still overwhelming to be in such a foreign place. His concern isn't so much the rationing, though that seems to be quite the source of anxiety for some he's encountered. What he wants is answers to the many and contradictory things he's been told since his arrival.]

I find myself at something of a loss, in this place, with so many people from such seemingly different times and places. It seems impossible that one person could have brought us here, and insensible that they should.

[That, though, is a subject he's sure has been at the center of many debates. What truly haunts him is what he heard from Peggy and Ariadne before.] I was led to believe that this place was a sort of afterlife, and yet, if I understand correctly, there are some here with ambitions to return to their homes. I do not see how such a thing could be accomplished.

[And that's it. No suggestions, he's just mulling. Aloud, and in public, which, he realizes now, is terribly unseemly.]

Forgive me. There is little purpose to these musings. Perhaps they are better off left unvoiced.

[ On pops the feed, showing one smiling and somewhat eager, Ariadne. And as always, she has been thinking (a lot) and has a few things she would like to talk about with everyone.

So… please enjoy? ]

I know that some of you are already aware of this fact – but, back home in Paris, I'm an Architect. [ a damn good one in her opinion, which, yes, only seems to cause a smug smile to start to tug at the corner of her mouth. ] And, well… given the apparent state of the Turtle as of late. I’m willing to have a look at any structural elements you might be concerned with.

[ a shrug of her shoulder and she is adding: ] There is nothing of major concern right now that I'm seeing. But… there have been a few things that have caught my attention. So just let me know if you would like to have me or even my friend from home look at anything for you.

[ a long beat and she is moving on to her next topic. ]

Also, Stephanie mentioned something to me, about a few of us trying to start a Foreigner ran Committee a while back. [ and this is where her expression turns a bit more eager (she really likes this idea, okay?) ] I really like this idea, and I'm hoping that we can maybe get the ball rolling on it?

After all, it might be a good way for us all to work together, and perhaps hopefully ensure that our voices are heard.

[ because lets face it, half of the "foreigners" aren't exactly use to living under a ruler and want to make sure their voices are heard. ]

I think that might be it for now. [ which only has her furrowing her brow in thought (gotta make sure after all) before she is sighing and smiling faintly. ] I know this whole ration thing is going to be interesting, but if you do need help with something, don't hesitate to ask.

[From the moment's hesitation between when the mic clicks on and the speech begins, it's obvious that this individual isn't quite comfortable with the interface yet. Possibly because, despite the demonstration he received from the kedan, he's never encountered technology of this level before.]

If I understand correctly, this message will be accessible to all of you in this city. I apologize for the intrusion on your day.

[He sure does sound ridiculously stiff, even to his own ears. But really, how is one supposed to address an entire city population without any sort of proper introduction?]

I arrived quite recently, and I find myself in need of proper clothing before all else. My current garb is not appropriate for public wear. [Because there's a big hole through it. No blood, strangely, and the wound itself seems to be healed, but still. His coat, his waistcoat, and shirt are all torn. His cravat escaped, but he can hardly wear that and nothing else.] If anyone could provide guidance on where I might find appropriate garb, I would be very grateful.
