I've really just got one question at the moment... Was that a cow? Not that I've ever seen a real, breathing cow anywhere around home... I don't think anyone has in the last ten years, actually, but there are pictures in holo-books. Maybe GeneCo should expand from human biology and take up endangered and extinct animal species.

I’m not too sure how happy I am to have been dropped into the ocean, [He gives a half shrug.] but it's already a good deal nicer than home. Nice pad, by the way. Still, it seems quite the eclectic group of people hereabouts and with such diversity comes business, and that’s one gift horse I’m not going to look in the mouth. [Grave looks about as interested as he would if he were watching paint dry, and yet the conversation continues. I guess he must be at least a little interested, but he’ll never admit it.]
 
So, it’s all about whoever feels the call of the Fu? Whoever is feeling that urge to release their inner crane?
 
[Where he’s being sarcastic and snide, there is no missing the tone of smugness in Shifu’s voice. Honest, Grave knows smug just about better than anyone he knows.]
 
Huh, I suppose with the overall Asian influence this place seems to have going for it, that I won’t be surprised to see the Art of the Fu here, too.
 
[Time to draw some rather blatant conclusions, folks.]

It is about who has the self control and determination necessary to study the art of Kung Fu for the many, many years necessary to master it.

One must study even longer to become a master to raise masters. [A small inclination of his head.] I am one such master.

[Grave listens with what might look like genuine interest. Hell, his eyes aren’t even glazing over yet, so this is a big step forward for him!!]

Huh… self control… right. Maybe not the best thing for little ole me, then. [He gives a wry grin, not seeming bothered to admit the fault.] I don’t have the best of records when it comes to self control, I’m afraid. But… I must give you the respect you’re due, clearly. [Have a round of applause, Shifu; and look, he only looks remotely sarcastic about it. Granted, a round of applause from a single person isn’t ever the most sincere sounding thing.]

[A reduction in sarcasm is still sarcasm and that causes his ears to flatline. Shifu notes the interest despite that and decides to put him to a test.]

Self control can be learned, but you must exert willpower to remain focused.

[Slow, steady breath.]

If you can master your resistance, then you may have potential. It will take much work but if you can, then I may take you on as a pupil.

[There are a number of "ifs" and "buts" there.]

That is your task. You will find me when you have achieved this.
