[Shepard looks a little less military-formal and a little more plain old contemplative today. This post is less about making an announcement or speech, perhaps, and more about making connections.]

I don't suppose many others here find the turtle diving sort of... comforting. Being underwater reminds me of space. There's no day-night cycle when you're in the black. It's really disconcerting at first, but after a while, you learn to sleep when your body needs to, rather than when the clock tells you it's night.

I was only just starting to get used to being on Earth again, when I was brought here. I hadn't been back in years.

[She sort of squints vaguely into the distance for a moment, like she's lost in a memory, her brow furrowed. Then she snaps back to herself and addresses the screen with a bit more of her usual professionalism.]

To the newcomers, I'm Commander Jane Shepard - Alliance Navy. [A brief hesitation, as she almost says formerly, but she's not willing to deal with that just yet.]

If anyone needs something to do, and you have medical or defense experience, let me know. I've got some teams working on emergency preparedness plans, and we could always use more help.

I was going to turn my top floor into a training dojo, so yeah, I'm totally for it!

I'd recommend coordinating with some of the other people offering training - no point doubling up, that'd just be redundant.

[interposer]

The dojo is an aesthetic thing, personally, my family owns one...so you know...homey. I can teach one-on-one in an atmosphere like that.

Though I'll see what's cooking too.

Sure, though I think the logical thing would be to make sure no one is doubling up on their lessons, even if you don't want to connect yourself to the school getting put together or anything like that. Having a network of people who communicate with each other seems better than having a bunch of people offering basically the same service who never talk, I guess.

[interposer]

I don't mind working with the school, the dojo is more of a me thing personally...or it could be like an after school tutoring thing for people who want a little extra help. Or if it's just convenient, but it's more of a training ground that'll tailored to my needs so I'm fine teaching at a school.

[cmdreffingshepard]

It'd probably be good to have certain people focusing on different age groups, or skill levels, or particular types of defense. Something like that. So some beginner groups, intermediate, advanced sparring. Or different fighting styles.

[interposer]

What age group would you say needs some attention? I can do anything from beginner level to complex skills.

[cmdreffingshepard]

I'm honestly not sure - we're still a little scattered and trying to figure things out. There aren't a lot of kids here, but enough that warrants concern, I think.

[interposer]

Hm...well maybe we can get organized first and then think about the level of training after that. Is there anything I can do with organizing things?

[cmdreffingshepard]

I'm sure there's plenty you could do with organizing things. You can come to our next meeting - I'll announce it, once I figure out when and where. Feel free to do anything else you feel needs to be done. There's no shortage of things to do, all it needs is someone willing to put forth the effort.

Well then I'll see what I can do to get on board with that!
