[Sokka's face is scrunched up and his tongue is just poking out of his mouth as he jabs at a few things and then pulls back with a grin.]

There! It...is set up, right?

I'm not going to just be talking to some...what is this thing called again?

[He squints and gives another jab before shrugging.]

Anyway, I know there's other people around, so hi! Hello! I'm Sokka, just some guy currently hoping that he's doing this ri--[And the video and all sound cut off as Sokka touches something that clearly makes it end recording.]

[Yue will just sit and drink her water, first.

That... sounds like an awful lot to do. She didn't know cooking could get so complicated, but then again, she's always had food prepared for her. So she never really needed to learn about the process that went into making it.]

Maybe full fish? [And um.] Is there anything I can do to help?

[This is one of the least complicated dishes Yue...wow. Sokka nods and unwraps the fish, smoothing out the paper and then patting them.]

We can descale the fish? We'll just be really careful because we have to use a knife.

[THIS IS HER FIRST TIME OKAY???? But really, just about anything beyond boiling water would seem complicated to her.]

Oh! Alright then, I'll try to be careful. [Um.] Where do you keep the knives?

[YOU WELL SOON BECOME A MASTER CHEF!

He smiles at her and takes two knives out of a block. This layout was still so new! He puts it on the worktop and then slides one fish over to Yue and shows her a technique.]

You do it like this, and you just scrape them off. They don't taste good and get stuck in your teeth.

Thankfully they gutted them already so we can skip the gross part.

[AND HER DREAMS WILL FINALLY BECOME A REALITY wait what.

Yue watches carefully as Sokka demonstrates, before grabbing a knife herself. She makes a point to go slowly, since... wel. She doesn't want to screw up the fish, and she doesn't want to risk cutting herself.]

Like this, then?

[It's a moment of his heart being right up there in his throat as he watches Yue and the knife but after watching he relaxes and smiles.]

You're a natural! Yeah, just like that.

[Sokka kept on running the knife along the fish until all the scales were off. Then more stuff is done, like uh...seasoning the fish and then drains the soaked seaweed and refills the pan with water putting it over the stove to heat it up.

Skipping a little bit ahead so both fish are roasting and the noodles are simmering away in the broth they made. He totally talked Yue through it all and only gave her a hand now and then. So he's proud of her cause it looks good and smells good.]

[And as they go along, Yue follows along with Sokka's instruction and does her best to keep up without making too many mistakes.

Once that's all done, well, she's pretty excited. Even though she had Sokka's assistance, it's still Yue's first time ever trying to cook something. That's an accomplishment, as far as she's concerned!]

That was... fun! And it smells good, too. [Hopefully that means it'll taste just as good.]

[He sets the bowls up, ladling the noodles and broth in them and putting the fish on a plate. Even if it tasted bad, would he have the heart to say?

Sliding a bowl to Yue he nodded.]

Bet it tastes just as good as it smells!

[He'd had a lot of fun guiding her in what to do, and the whole thing was pretty much Yue's work. He takes some of the seawood noodles and chews on them, shoulders slumping and he smiles blissfully.]

These are amazing!

Really? [She smiles and, a little hesitantly, tries some of her food.]

You're right! They are good! I can't believe I never thought to try this before. [Sure, there were people who cooked for her in the Northern Water Tribe, so there wasn't much of a point to it... but still!]

Hey! Congrats, Yue! You just cooked a really awesome meal!

[He tucks into the fish now because if the noodles are great then the fish has to be as well and he's glad when he isn't wrong. He forgets about manners and ends up just scoffing food down.]

[Yue just laughs at that - because while she was taught table manners are important, it's pretty flattering that he enjoyed it so much that he just scoffed it down like that.

Once they're both done, Yue sets her dish down and leans over to give Sokka a small kiss on the cheek ~~because lips would be a bad idea since they both have fish-and-seaweed breath right now~~.

She'd feel bad about it, but she knows she won't actually be marrying Hahn. So it's not so bad. Not really.]

Thank you, Sokka. [For all sorts of things. But mostly for just being here with her.]

[His cheeks flare up at the kiss and he bites at the inside of his mouth to really stop the most dorky of all the grins. He's actually really happy she's here and he's here.

He rubs his neck and gives a nervous chuckle. ~~Curse you fish and seaweed breath!~~]

No, thank you. Really, this has been, it's been really really great.

[Clearly other kisses will have to happen on a day when their breath is better.]

Well, now that we're both here, maybe we can do things like this more often.

[That day may be eagerly awaited.]

I'd really like that. I mean, we live close as well and...it'd be nice to talk to you more.

It would be. [She smiles and rests her head against Sokka's shoulder.]

It'll be good to have more days like this one. [Peaceful, relaxing, and in good company. A welcome change from what was happening back home.]

[Sokka's a little surprised when Yue rests her head there, but he rolls with it, putting an arm around her. He nods in agreement and can't wait for them to happen. Not having to worry about the war was actually, really calming.]

[And Yue is content to sit like that for a while longer.

Arriving here was stressful at first, but things are starting to feel better, especially now that Sokka is here with her.

All in all, it's a good end to a good day. Hopefully the rest of their time here will go just as well.]
