[Stephanie comes onto the network a la video and she looks tired, bedraggled, and kind of like hell in her flannel shirt and still damp jeans.]
Hi. Stephanie here. [She wrings her hair a little.]
That was an experience I never, ever want to repeat. [Ever.]
Why the ocean? Couldn’t it have been a freshwater lake? At least that way, I wouldn’t feel like a too salty piece of beef jerky, though I guess then you run the risk of leeches and other watery vermin. [She needed a shower, bad, but she had some questions first. It wasn’t unordinary for her to shunt personal hygiene to the side for at least a few minutes when there were answers that could be sniffed out.]
And, why a coma? Anybody have any answers? Those guys that ‘saved’ me were kind of vague. I’ll buy coffee – if they have it here and God I hope they do – for anyone that can help me out.
[Or at least, she will until her money runs out, anyway.]

Except he's never been in this situation before. You know, being dead and all. He tried sleeping the agitation off, but then someone broke in and now he can't sleep at all.
So when someone on the network mentions coffee, he is so there. It's also kind of a bonus that she looks like shit, too. Makes him feel better, almost.
But at least she doesn't look like she wants to kill someone, which... Phil kinda does.]
Do they even have coffee here?
no subject
Right now, anyway.]
I sure hope so. If I have to survive on caffeinated tea, I'll die.
You got info for me?
[Peeeeeer >_>]

But he just.
No. So much no. Over everything.]
I don't. Sorry. I haven't been here much longer than you have, from the looks of it.
no subject
Hmph. You been here a day? Two?

[He's not even sure, to be honest. That's a thing, though, right? Losing sense of time when you're dead?]

[Like she. stole it. yes okay Steph knows that's terrible logic. It's still weird to meet someone else with her name, especially considering how small the population of Foreigners is]
But uh, did they tell you that you're in a coma back home? [is that what the question meant?]
→ video
Well - no. I meant more the whole 'sleeping in the sea' thing. That's something I actively try to avoid.
→ video
Oh, right. I'm not actually sure what that's all about, I guess having us drowsy is a way to keep as from freaking out until they've had time to explain the situation? But the details on how we got there in the first place are kind of vague.
→ video
[Yeeeah thaaaat's disturbing.]
See, that's what kind of creeps me a little. I mean, yeah -- how'd I get to the water? I don't tend to really frequent the beach.

And, apparently, we are needed here. Or some of us are. The process is, also apparently, not very precise.
video;
Oh, goody. [Sigh.] That sounds sort of ominous.
Any idea how I might have wound up in the ocean? Was that exclusive to me? Please say no.
video;
Everybody wakes up in the ocean, and gets the exciting ride to the city with the, ah, incomplete orientation talk. The ominous part gets revealed in small portions. Apparently, the next section will become clear when we reach land.
Oh, and the ocean... well. This is a turtle that swims in it?
video;
Land? That'd be--
Wait, did you say turtle?
[The little sea people that didn't pull her out didn't MENTION THAT.]

It's not exactly a coma. I mean, otherwise we'd drown before they ever found us, right? It's probably more like a stasis.
[#comiclogic.]
[video]
Isn't that...the same thing? I mean, in both cases you're kind of unresponsive, right?
[video]
[shrug.]
A stasis would pretty much suspend all your bodily functions.

Would you rather be dead?

Most of the time.]
Was that the alternative? [Jesus, she hoped not. For the millionth time, Stephanie had to wonder if she really should start looking for another job.]
[audio]
[She says nothing of alternatives. She damn well knows she's dead back home.]
[audio]
So. A turtle.
[Stephanie Plum: Eloquent, as always.]
