Hello there, my dear fellow captives. I've missed you all so very much, and I'm sure the feeling has been quite mutual.

[ Loki sounds positively playful and is quite cheerfully smiling as he addresses whatever audience he might gather, though there's a contrasting uncharacteristicly careworn quality to his body language. ]

Blessed with good fortune is Loki, let me tell you. Though there was a little peril to my very soul for a few days, a clever rescue cleared that all right up. It put some things in perspective here, I think. Strange how it is I find myself with most everything I could possibly desire save that aforementioned threat of what I think may have been potentially erasure from reality.

By the by, my brother is here in duplicate-- handsome, muscular fellow, likes his hammer. You'll all get along well with Thor, everyone does. That goes especially for people that don't like me, few though you may be.

So how was your week? What did I miss? Was it terribly interesting?

Oh, I'm sure, I'm told I'm a charming and beautiful creature, but I never did seem to have much luck with lightning.

[He shrugs, carelessly, and leans his chin on one hand. He's really only answered the post because he is so bored, Loki, you don't even know.]

So what's this exciting new perspective, anyway?

You are a pretty thing. [ He says this agreeably enough. ] But, yes, for all I do enjoy mortals, I find myself oft distinctly unable to understand their experiences. Right now, I find myself, oh, I don't know. I'm... there's a word for it. What's the word? Getting a feeling for how other beings feel? It's on the tip of my tongue here.

[ He's looking for 'empathizing' and it's not working for him at all. ]

Empathizing, usually. [Sei snorts, and shrugs.] I guess my half gave me an advantage in that arena.

Empathizing! Thank you, that was going to drive me half mad. It's hard to empathize with something that is as strictly based in reality as a mortal, but I think I really get some of it now.

Reality's a fickle mistress, moreso when she's making everyone place nice by her rules.

But you think you get it, huh? I'm curious, so enlighten me, o mighty god of trickery.

Reality has never been my mistress. That something as random as shiny paint stood between me and utter annihilation makes me appreciate why humans act as they do. It must be like that all the time for them.

I was told once it's that struggle against all set against them that makes human life as precious as it is finite.

[His tone and expression go very briefly distant, despite his attempts to keep them light.]

I guess there's something to it. When life is short and prone to easily ending, anything you create is an achievement, and they've bent and broken the planet under their will to do so.

Rather heavy subject matter, isn't it? I'll be honest, I'm happy enough with my form. I doubt I'd be at all graceful about mortality.

Pretty sure most people aren't, but I haven't quite figured out how to word the question for proper scientific study.

[He puts on an air of mock-science, talking right through his nose.]/

'Excuse me, Ma'am, how do you deal with the inevitability that you will die, either by some horrible twist of fate or slowly, unchangeably, trapped in the failing shell of your own body? I'd like to record your response for a study, please.'

[ Loki bursts into laughter suddenly, grinning wide at the very thought. ]

I would pay money to see someone do that. Preferably to one of the more smug, self-involved ones.

Oh, I live to entertain, but I'd have to insist on a good and shiny paycheck. Can't be making exceptions, after all.

[Loki's laughter seems infectious, and a grin has crept it's way onto Sei's face too, along with a quiet chuckle.]

Besides, around here, where the dead simply come back, I don't think it'd go quiet the same.

You can hardly glower in a manner that speaks for your alternate as well, brother mine. You oughtn't judge him by your own measure. Who knows, right?

It was just a playful jest. None would ever doubt Thor a paragon of masculinity.

[ There's more than a hint of sass in that response. Overcompensating? Him? Never. ]

I'd not suggested that it was him in particular that was the issue.

[ Just blame puberty for this, Thor. Boys his age can be moody.

Thankfully, he seems to shake himself mostly out of his fit of pique. Time for a change of topic, and a rather abrupt one at that. ] So how do you fare today?

Well, though not as well as you, given your evident jubilation. [He'd been going to post and say how nice it was to see him so happy.]

[ The act is harder now for some reason. He still has that dread of discovery, the mixed jumble of feelings towards Thor, but knowing only abstractly that he should hate himself and actually doing so were two very different things. It isn't easy to sort out.

That was dangerous when the last thing he could afford to do was turn his brother on him (and still he thought it possible), but he could fix this and hesitates only briefly. ] It would be hard to. There's nothing but reasons for Loki to be jubilant today.
