I'm requesting help moving old equipment back to the free clinic in the Earth sector.

[ An almost two months had passed with more than enough fanfare to last more than one lifetime, but Amon was largely ignorant to it all as he showed up on the network in his now emptied out apartment. The mask that had been broken some time ago was again covering his face and any emotion behind it; his features frozen in that same, blank porcelain smile. ]

I'm aware that it works almost exclusively with kedan too poor to go elsewhere, but if anyone here were seeking to build sturdier bridges among the local populace then now is your chance. The news a permanent hospital is being constructed in place of doctor Soranik's old clinic has reached my ears, but you'll forgive me if I was too busy collecting myself after finding myself here once again.

[ Amon taps on the hard wood of his desk - one of the only pieces of furniture left behind after his sudden departure. ]

On that subject: Has anyone else experienced a return? To Keelai, I mean. I'm interested if it's common place, or if there are any adverse effects.

[ If even just making the attempt to carry Nita once was any indication of the weight she could (literally) throw around, he'd be happy with her speeding things along. ]

Nita - Did you or the kedan clear out my apartment? [ It was a pointed question, but when he came back to only a few sentimentals gone he suspected someone he knew had done it. ]

I grabbed the stuff that looked important, yeah.

[She has boxes of departed people's things in one of her lesser-used closets. It never seems right to let the kedan just wipe all traces of them away after they disappear.]

Oh. [ This elicits a quiet, awkward 'Oh' from Amon as he isn't sure this should be met with gratitude, or no small degree of sympathy as he can only imagine what it must do to a person to go through anothers things after they dropped off the face of the earth. Or, turtle. ]

If I could stop by at your earliest convenience...

Dude, we literally share a wall.

[Ten seconds of melancholy: over.]

[ Amon switches to audio as he fumbles with tired, slow fingers to unfasten his mask. Sorry Nita, old habits die hard.

With his own bout of melancholy running longer than her ten seconds, Amon raps his knuckles firmly, twice against the drywall separating them. He doesn't expect her to hear, but it felt like something two people who shared some sort of rapport would do after a period of separation would do. Like a charm or invocation for better fortune. ]

I'll be right over.

[Nita hears it. The pointed ears aren't just for show.]

Sure. Just c'mon in.

[She darts upstairs to the closet to fetch his box. It's labeled "AMON" in English block letters, since she hadn't necessarily been expecting people to know his real name if she had been the one who'd disappeared one day.]

[ Amon is already at her door when he hears her flying up the stairs. Knowing he has nothing but an overwhelming oppressive cheery disposition to fear on the other side of this door he does not hesitate (much) to turn the handle and step into the threshold.

Sheepishly, for Amon anyway, he calls up the stairs. ]

I apologize if this came at any cost or inconvenience to you.

[Nita pokes her head around a corner, looking down the staircase with her long ponytail dangling.]

It wasn't any trouble.

[Noatak's box isn't big. Apparently, unlike Nita, he doesn't make impulse buys and come home with potted plants or wall art or armchairs.]

[ Amon looked down at the box in her arms and what little heart was left in him dropped. It had his name on it which probably meant there were other such boxes Nita had hidden away; he thought it must be a terrible burden to be so caring. ]

Thanks you. [ He said with genuine gratitude as he took it. ]

While I'm here [ There was actual hesitation in his voice ] I was hoping you could provide council for a, ah, sensitive problem that reared its ugly head shortly after my arrival.

[ This might just be the Blank Face!convo of the century. ]

I am told that I was here before, yet I have no previous memory of my residency.

[ Spock doesn't even need a mask. Teach him your ways, oh tight assed one. ]

I assure you this question is relevant, but have you died?

With great success; I even had the opportunity to watch my own demise thanks to the generosity of our Emperor. [ Who bitter? Not him. ]

I've already started hedging my bets in favor of the theory I'm in an interesting predicament. Someone already closer to the death.

The Emperor has some means that are difficult to explain. Best I can tell you is she has some method of precognition that she can channel into others when it pleases her. Usually this works as an exchange - something for a glance into ones personal future.

[ This is what he's worried about. Jim has expressed his intent to go to the Emperor for something similar and, quite frankly, Spock is going to punch as many holes in that plan as possible. After sensing the frightening placid stillness of his friend's mind while Jim was coma-ridden, there's a visceral desire to keep anyone out of there.

So he asks succinctly, ] What is the usual rate of exchange?

I'm told the adjustment period is expedited with the wonders of technology achieving tracing your steps for you.

What do you need moved? [Mark's wearing a mask of his own, only it doesn't hide his face.]

Hopefully nothing if Nita can carry it all in one go, but I might need the assist moving plasma and other sensitive supplies between the better stocked facilities that cater more the the upper class in better parts of the sectors. [ Amon: The mask just screams "Hero to the poor and downtrodden", ok. ]

[Marius rarely even casts a glance at the network but lo and behold! This is one of those rare times. Isn't it odd how he's always stumbling into events deemed important in his life?]

[His smile is wide and jubilant, and uninhibited excitement dances in his eyes, for the good M. Amon has returned! And surely if Amon has returned, then Cosette might one day return to him, too?]

[ Amon visibly jolts under his stone-faced mask; he really hadn't expected Marius to stick around let alone the boys almost delightfully molded loyalty to him. ]

I would be more than happy to welcome my star pupil back with open arms.

[ If nothing else, bringing the boy back under his wing will buy him some time staving off his usual detractors and enemies. ]

[Marius honestly does not believe he deserves to be called Amon's star pupil (the countless times he had fallen or stumbled might have been a dead give-away), but he's smiling politely in response anyhow.]
