[ Olivia's got her standard smile on, but for people who know her, her voice and smile have a forced edge to them. Which makes sense given the opening of her post. ]

[ She shifts a bit and looks down for a moment before bringing her head back up with a renewed smile and a touch more genuine enthusiasm. ]

That being said! The bakery is still going to open within the next few weeks. We've been working hard to get the building in shape and perfect our recipes, so I expect to see all of you there sooner or later. I'll make an announcement when we open for good. Like I said, should be soon baring, oh, an invasion of rabid zombie turkeys or whatever disaster is flavor of the week.

[ She is watching this process intently. Even though she doesn't do it often, she can cook and this might be a good thing to make for Kyle who has been helping her out a lot since Lincoln left. ]

Golden brown is good for me.

[Walter takes a plate, puts a few paper towels on it and then the bread slice on top.] Let it drain for a bit and it'll be ready to eat. We've got ingredients for as many as we'll manage so don't worry about that. [He pokes the other slice with the spatula a little, waiting for it to get more colour.]

[dunhaming]

[ Olivia is really hungry all of a sudden. Waiting is hard, but she'll trust the master. She hovers over her piece, as if it could simply announce when it's ready to be eaten. ]

How long do we wait?

Oh, oh, I didn't mean all afternoon! It'll get cold! [Walter looks at the plate.] Sure, dig in. It's just to let the oil drain away some so it won't be soggy. [Walter picks up his own slice and puts it on its own plate.] It's a pity we don't have any milk. This would go great with milk.

[dunhaming]

[ Oh yes, he won't have to tell her twice. Olivia starts eating and gives a nod of approval, before taking another bite while he talks. ]

It'd be nice if we had a lot of things we don't have. I'll be happy when we can go home.

[The thought of going home sparks a thought in Walter's mind.]

How long have you been here, Olivia? Did you arrive simultaneously with Agent Lee?

About four months ago? And no, he was here a few weeks before I was.

Hmm! It might be possible that there is some kind of rubberband effect, so to speak, meaning people return to their own universe after a certain period of time. But there might be an awful lot of variables in this process so mapping two people on each other would not really work... you'd need to get a lot more information to run a statistical analysis. But people do disappear spontaneously all the time, I wonder if anyone's looked into this phenomenon before? [Walter gets up from the table and starts writing equations on his blackboard, lost in thought.]

[ Wow she is getting lost super fast. ]

I have no idea. I can ask around.

[Walter pauses for a moment, then nods. It sounds like it might be a lot of legwork that Walter is not going to get done in a million years.]

If you could make some inquiries, that would be very useful. I mean, [he waves his chalk at the blackboard] it's just a fanciful theory, so I don't think we need to do an entire census. If you can find a few dates of appearances and corresponding disappearances, we can start looking for a pattern. [It's probably a dead end, but he's gotta try something!]
