So. Uh, getting kind of cold out there.

[hello Keeliai. Ellie clearly doesn't have a reason for being on the network. Not an immediately obvious one, but she loved the idea of being able to talk to everyone like this, quickly and easily. It was so foreign from what she's known her entire life]

You know what, though? It's not that bad. Pretty fucking cool, actually, and just about every restaurant I've been to is serving hot something. Hot chocolate, hot tea, so if you get cold, you know what you needa do is get some of that in you.

[okay, she could tell that was stupid. But hey, maybe she could ask more people about Thanksgiving, while she was there. A day late.]

So, I know this whole thing is a day late and a buck short and all that... But what'd everyone do for Thanksgiving? Yesterday was my first one and it wasn't bad. I ate a lot. And, okay, this is dumb, but I started thinking about things I'm thankful too. Yeah, I know, it's what the holiday is all about... But I'm kind of glad to be here. Believe me, I love food.

... And friends and stuff. So, uh... anyone got any good stories? They don't have to be Thanksgiving related or anything, I just wanna talk.

Elizabeth never had Thanksgiving either. She made good stuffing, though.

Hey, I'll have you know... it is perfectly acceptable to start conversations with people on this damn thing.

And also I'm a little bored.

But it's not a bad bored-- just... Kind of lonely, I guess.

So, did she put stuff like basil and oregano in her stuffing?

I'm not sure exactly what she put in - whatever it was, it tasted good. [He just eats her food and doesn't ask too many questions, is what he's saying.]

Going to the bonfire tonight? Might help cure that loneliness.

[she grins]

Maybe I will, maybe I won't. It's kinda hard to explain, this whole loneliness thing... I'm really missing a friend of mine. You kind of remind me of him-- your voice sounds exactly like his, except less Texas twang.

I hope he's doing okay.

Right, Joel was it? Sorry he ain't here for you. [Seriously, he is. He knows it would suck here without Elizabeth, not knowing where she was or if she was okay.]

If you ever need anything, well. [He'll just keep dropping food off at your place now and then. Elizabeth's turning him into a regular philanthropist. Not that Booker would know what that means.]

And you should come. To the bonfire. If I can go, you can.

I know, I know. I wouldn't pass up a bonfire. Sounds fun, all campy and shit. And you're right, I gotta get out of here. Just... okay, this is gonna sound stupid, but I just do not like the cold all that much.

[He shrugs.] Not many people do. Bonfire should be big enough, keep the area nice and toasty. You got an extra jacket?

Nah, just got the one I had in my backpack. I'm saving my money for eating out, you know?

Well, I can bring along an extra for you, just in case.

Raleigh and I just stayed home and ordered take-out.

And if we're doing the whole 'what are you thankful for' thing, which I haven't done in ages...

I'm thankful for everyone I've met here. And food, obviously. The variety is amazing.

On both counts-- I haven't even tried so much food before. Noodles? Psh. I even tried pizza the other day, and it was really, really good.

Greasy, and I didn't wanna move all next day.. but really good.

And as for friends-- you guys make it a lot easier than it would be otherwise. Without Joel. You know, all that sort of stuff.

I told you, I've never done a barbecue... I've only heard about what they were like from a friend.

You sure? I killed a pretty big bird for the Enterprise crew's Thanksgiving. I could do something like that again.

But if not, I'll definitely have all three of my pun books.

[And kinda sad. Julie can guess hunting is a necessity back home. It probably is in Julie's world, she's just unaware of it because of where she lives.]

I don't think I've ever had so much food in my life. After I ate, I fell asleep! I'm almost ashamed of how lazy I was...

Falling asleep because you're so full is the best way to go, you know? I haven't slept that good in awhile.

Well, I'm thankful I've been taken care of this whole time. The past month has not been easy.

Yeah... You still affected, like Julie is?

[she sounds concerned, a lower register in her voice, and almost halting]

Yes. But I'm getting used to it. And since others are recovering, I don't think it will last forever.

I just had a nice small meal with some friends for Thanksgiving. Which was-- It was really nice. [A small laugh.] I haven't really gotten to just veg out/i> like that in a long time.

I'm thankful for that, I guess.

[she grins. She'd never really gotten to veg out before, so she was glad he put that term to it for her]

You get to have Thanksgiving a lot where your from? Or just... circumstances have stopped you lately?

No no, we do have some kind of Thanksgiving thing every year. It's more like it's just... been a really long year, for me.

Isn't it amazing! I love the snow! [Elizabeth, you are enthusiastic about everything. Especially throwing snowballs at Booker. And knitting.]

If you're still cold, even after the vouchers, I could knit you a sweater? I made one for Booker, and he's got a scarf as well, I'm just working on a hat and mittens for him. Maybe some socks, too... [She's really just overloading Booker with affection.]

I'd be more than happy to make some for you.

[her eyes widen somewhat at the offer. While she liked the idea of new clothes-- the cold didn't bother her because she was cold. She'd slept outside next to Joel with just a thin jacket for a couple of weeks while he healed. She hunted in jeans and converses.

Well-- thanks. I won't say no to that. But-- I heard you made a really mean stuffing from Booker, actually.

I'll get started on it right away, then. Any color preferences? [She smiles gently at the girl.

And then she mentions Booker, and Elizabeth's eyes light up.] He said that? To you? Oh, wow, uhm, yes, I do. But he said he really liked it? Wow! [The fact that he said this to someone else was actually pretty damn amazing, okay?]

Yeah. Why wouldn't he say that if he liked it? Is he bad at compliments or something? Because he seemed alright at them when he was tilling me.

Well, no... He's just... It's one thing to hear him tell me that, it's another to hear he's told someone else.

[Victor's bundled up for the cold even though he's inside. He seems less than impressed with people enjoying the cold and snow though.]

I stayed in, ate, and hung out with one of my friends. It was a bit too cold to go anywhere for my tastes.

Well, you know, the end of the world as you know it apparently puts a damper on really popular holidays. Which sucks, I would've liked a holiday dedicated to eating. Most people probably would've.

[though she's being somewhat sarcastic, she doesn't seem like she's in a bad mood about any of it]

Yeah...[Just a little awkward pause.] That probably would dampen the majority of holiday spirits in most places.

Well...okay. I grew up in a place called Fairbury, Illinois. But I've mostly been living at school in New York for a long while other than some time spent in California and some other places. What do you want to know about where I'm from?
