[Despite having been taught how to use the computers and the seeming necessity of doing so, Hans hadn't been quick to make his entrance. He's been observing, trying to get an idea of the sort of people he'll come across here, it's a while before he's entirely ready to begin playing along.

A bright, smiling face will appear on the feed, he's pretty delighted that he's learned how to work the contraption with such ease. He seems a little unsure of how to start, whether he should introduce himself or head straight into the issues here. Instead, he opts for small talk.]

It was very nice of the people here to teach us how to use these, we don't have anything like it where I'm from. [He gives a soft laugh.] I thought I should take the time to introduce myself. I am Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, but since they aren't here... [He trails off, looking just a bit concerned by that.] Hans, will do.

I haven't been here long, so any information you can provide would be most appreciated..And in turn, if there is any way in which I can assist you, please do not hesitate to let me know. [He can't help bowing his head a little at the computer. He's not really sure if you're meant to bow at them. Royalty could be watching, it seems a safe bet.]

I wouldn't say I'm experienced, but I've had my moments. What sort of magic are you referring to? [Please don't say ice magic.]

..Eggs? ...It laid eggs? [He looks briefly perplexed before he smiles himself.] I'm sure I can handle that, but thank you for the warning.

Free Magic and necromancy, are the ones that cause problems in the Old Kingdom, but any kind of magic at all, really. Even Charter Magic can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. [Like setting a rosebush on fire... or calling up an out of control windstorm.]

Oh- not the turtle we're on. Another turtle. We brought them onto the shell when we found the eggs, and they- sort of reached out to us, so we took them onto the shell and took care of them.

If that's the case, then I certainly know what you mean. Magic run amok rarely ends well for anyone involved, of course.

Oh! Of course. [He can't help laughing at his blunder.] That's a lot more.. pleasant than I expected to hear, to be perfectly honest.

Of course. That's why those of us who have it must always be responsible in our use of it. [Something about the way Sabriel says this suggests it's a lesson she's been told repeatedly.]

What on earth were you expecting- oh. No, the eggs were layed long before any of us arrived here.

It certainly sounds like you know better than I do. Even a bit of hands-on experience can't teach much in comparison to the responsibility of being magic yourself entails, I'm sure.

..I'm sorry. This is all so very strange. I believe you, I do. I'm just.. So there are a lot of turtles on the turtle and there were eggs here before any of us arrived, yes?

It's a lesson I try to pass on to my students. [Nevermind that Sabriel looks a little young to be teaching anyone.]

The eggs were layed by another turtle- we found them when we visited it's remains. But yes, that's... esentially the case. There are fifteen baby turtles on Asti- that's the name of the turtle we're standing on right now.

Students? [There's a brow raise.] You're a teacher? But you're so young!

Alright... That makes a lot more sense. Thank you for being so patient with me, I must seem pretty slow, right?

I'm the most experienced Charter Mage in Keeliai. Most of my students are older than me, but I'm the one who baptized- who gave them the ability to use Charter Magic. [Sabriel's aware that having more experience than her own students isn't particularly impressive, but being called young is a little annoying, and it shows on her face. She's certain that she's fought more monsters and dealt with more danger than the man on her screen.]

[Sabriel's expression softens at Hans's self-depreciation though.] No, not at all! I know it can all be a bit- a bit much to take in. Particularly if you're not used to things like this.

That's impressive! [He notes the annoyance.] Not to imply your youth makes it unlikely of course, it would be an accomplishment at any age.

[He lets out a soft laugh as Sabriel softens up.] It's a little embarrassing, to tell the truth.

Having more experience than my own students? I think that's more expected than impressive. [It's a little self-depreciating, but Sabriel's smiling.]

It's fine. At least you're able to learn about why we're here right away. Much of what we know now, we didn't know when I first arrived.

When you put it like that, I can see why it would bother you. [He looks a little sympathetic.] I suppose it's because magic is a little beyond me. As I said, I've had very minor experiences with it.

How long have you been here? ..If you don't mind my asking, that is.

Well, that's more than quite a few people here have- what sort of experience was it?

It's fine, and I've been here for about nine months.

Well, it wasn't magic of my own that's for sure. It was a Queen from a neighboring kingdom, lovely lady really- Anyway- there was a party for her coronation, she bickered with her sister and next thing you know she'd set her kingdom into eternal winter.

Oof- [He can't help cringing.] Silly me, thinking it would be temporary.

Really? [Sabriel leans toward the screen, her expression full of interest.] Weather magic isn't my specialty, but I don't think there's any Charter-spell that can change the weather to that extent- not for an entire country! Although it seems a bit of an overreaction for just an argument.

Well, sometimes, whatever method used to bring us here sends someone back home. But it isn't exactly predictable.

From what I've heard, she didn't particularly have a good grip on her powers. [He gives a light shrug.] I wish I could be more insightful, but I only have an outsider's perspective.

That's.. promising. [Sarcasm isn't very Princely.]

If she couldn't control it, why did she attempt such a spell in the first place? [Sabriel tends to apply her own world's rules, even when they don't actually apply. She still suggests running water as a good defense against undead.]

Well, the intent was to let none of us return, until the threat we were brought to face has been dealt with?

I'm not sure if it was a willful spell so much as it was inherent power. She certainly didn't seem to be chanting or any such thing.

I suppose I'd hoped for more courtesy considering they brought us here against our will.
