[Don't panic. Don't panic.
Eugene paced back and forth endlessly, staring at the console in his suite, and repeating the instructions he was given over and over again in his head. Even after everything he had seen while arriving in this world, including suddenly appearing there and feeling like a drowned rat, he had a hard time believing this kind of technology existed. Yet, there is the console in front of him, primed and ready to go.
Eugene takes a deep breath, patting both of his cheeks simultaneously, and getting his “game face on”.]
You've got this, Flynn. You can do this. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? These guys could be lying, and you get sucked into some other strange world where they turn you into a fish—and okaay, not going there. Nope. That train of thought ends right there.
[There's nothing to it but to do it. Delaying the inevitable is only making things worse. Logs into the console and gets things going.]
So, I've heard there's a bunch of people on the other end of this thing. Possibly alive. Possibly dead. Like me.
[Eugene is really, really hoping the former is the truth and not the latter.]
And to you I say, hey. How's it going? The name's Flynn; Flynn Rider. Like the rest of you, I come from a place far, far away, where things happen and all that. Blah. Blah. Blah.
[Flashes the console one of his infamous grins.]
The whole thing sounds a bit suspect if you ask me, but here I am. Denying everything and all that isn't going to do me much good. What is far more useful is finding out more about this place. I'm open to hearing everything and anything about this place.
[Stares at the console for a moment, trying to play it cool while secretly hoping and wondering if he used this thing properly.]
