( diana is seated at one of the consoles in a café when the video feed begins. it seems she’s already gone a bit native—there’s a kedan-style cloak draped around her shoulders, apparently all she needs to keep warm. still, the glint of gold from her armor is perfectly visible, as is the tiara set amongst her dark curls. she’s making no pretense of who she is, should anyone be able to recognize her.

she lifts a hand in simple greeting, smiling. she’s perfectly calm, though anyone who knows her well can probably sense just a bit of tension in the set of her shoulders, the way her eyes are focused. )

There’s many of you here that I know. And many more that I do not.

My name is Diana, and while I’m newly arrived I believe I’ve gotten most of the basics of the situation. It seems you’ve all been busy, recently.

( there’s nothing mocking about her words, and her smile is genuine and honest. she pauses, for a moment, as though to give her audience a breather. then, she continues— )

I’m sure there’s a lot to be done, and I’m willing to offer my assistance to anyone who should need it. But first, I would like to be better acquainted with all of you. If we’ve met before, I’m sure you’ll come and say hello. And if we haven’t, it’s never too soon for introductions.

( both before and after this broadcast and subsequent conversations, diana will be flying over the same café. in effect, she’s using herself as a beacon. feel free to run into her in person if you’d prefer. )

[Nita shrugs. She doesn't mean that in the way people usually do when trying to justify a surveillance state--she just knows that she's an open book and consequently doesn't attempt to be sneaky unless there's a surprise party involved.]

Huh? Oh, yeah. My cousin.

[Let's keep this possible misinterpretation that Nita's somehow related to Arthur going for a couple of tags.]

_{( she's listing off the people she knows in her head-- arthur, mera, garth and dolphin... and the various other atlanteans she knows of. arthur would have mentioned a cousin, wouldn't he have? or, maybe not. he is rather solitary at times, and if nita had never come to the surface world why would they have had to know about her? )}

And here I thought I was well-acquainted with Atlantean royalty.

[Nita's not part of her universe's supergenius club, and she has something of her cousin's tendency to solve problems by punching them, but she's still far from stupid, and there are only two Atlantises out there, at least as far as people who've ever shown up on the turtle.

Oh, you know Arthur?

He's an old friend. Though I haven't seen him very recently. _{( which is sad. why do you have to be such a recluse, arthur? )}

My home is called Themyscira. We're ... _{( there's no right way to describe the relationship between the two, is there? )} ...familiar with Atlantis that way, as well.

Oh, gosh. He's right here.

[She gestures over her shoulder with her thumb in an almost entirely uninformative gesture meant to indicate the location of Arthur's nearby apartment.]

I've never heard of Themyscira, though.

Oh. _{( that was intelligent, diana. but now she's mentally counting, trying to figure out just how much of the league is around... )}

We can be a bit secretive.

So can we. We didn't have much to do with the surface until World War II, really.

[Though there was that time the Crown Princess snuck off and married a surface-dweller. That was kind of a big deal.]

Anyway, if Arthur doesn't see this, I'll tell him to give you a call.

[Maybe Diana can get him to shave the manpain beard.]

[More or less because he's weak vs. blonds, to be completely honest.]

Ha. I'm not saying he's not noble, but he realized the Nazis weren't going to stop with the land.

Still, some people have a hard time recognizing a problem until it lands on their doorstep.

Atlantis is usually fortunate, in its kings.

[Namor is primarily a good king in comparison to all the other jackasses who want the position, but he does try.]

Arthur keeps insisting he's not the king.

[Which she's pretty sure is bullshit but eh not worth fighting about and she'll keep telling people he's the ruler of Atlantis.]

I'm not an expert on their politics, of course.

And things change all the time.

I'm sure it won't. _{( she's glad, a lot of the time, that she doesn't have to worry about themyscira's day-to-day governance. splitting her time is hard enough as it is; she's not sure how arthur manages his schedule. )}

[Nita spends most of her time on the surface for a reason. They'd make her do stuff if she were in Atlantis regularly. Plus at least 99% of Atlanteans are huge jerks.]

So are you on the, um... [it takes her a second to remember DC's equivalent of the Avengers] Justice League with Arthur and Superman and Kyle?

[What has two thumbs, thinks of Kyle as the "real" Green Lantern, and still doesn't know Clark Kent is Superman? This gal.]

If you mean Kyle Rayner, then yes. _{( she knows it's a common enough name, though as far as she knows kyle isn't on active duty right now. not that that matters much, given the situation. )}

The League's membership is pretty extensive, but it seems we're well-represented here.

There are a lot of the people from my universe or similar ones here, but one of the big teams is way underrepresented [where are all the X-Men? there are like a million of them, come on!] but there are a bunch of Avengers around.

[Because "Avengers" isn't a super-confrontational team name or anything, Nita. Tell Diana about the Invaders next.]
