(So. She's back. Shayera can't say she's pleased, or even remotely okay with being back here. Nothing much said to the Emperor except a middle finger before she grabbed her belongings and got the fuck out of there. Everything's a little fuzzy, honestly. Still placing names to faces, moments to places, feelings with people. Shayera alternates between walking among the streets, and flying in the skies. Flying to notice familiar landmarks or streets, walking to get an up close view to try and ring in some of those memories that keep flitting away every now and then. Doing what she can to keep herself calm and composed, as she always tries to be. Unless it's a fight, then she doesn't bother. She stays in the Earth Sector for a good few hours, as that place was her home before leaving. It's easiest to get her memories back here.

After that, she spends fleeting amounts of time, in the closer sectors such as Fire and Water maybe half an hour, or forty-five minutes at most. The other sectors only get about twenty minutes of flight time, mostly just for her to stretch her wings, attempting to see if she can get used to this place again. She was here for a good few months, so maybe she could adjust easier this time. Of course, that's wishful thinking. It's still a bubble, and she's not one for being caged in. Her flying or walking in the streets is easily the best time to notice her, maybe give a loud shout out. By the end of her trip a few hours later, she's heading back to her own suite on foot through part of the Fire Sector, and all the way home to her suite EA-2C in the Earth Sector. If she missed anyone, she might as well give them a shout out.)

(video)

(Well, that's a face that definitely hasn't shown up on the feed for quite sometime. Though she was a little stressed out earlier, Shayera's gone back to her confident self, complete with a smirk. Yeah, everyone here definitely missed that smirk. Of course.) I hope nobody missed me too much. Was I even gone for very long? Feels like I just skipped down for a bit, then came right back because someone missed me too much.

(She leans back in her chair, already feeling comfortable back in her second home. See? That didn't take too long.) Can anyone catch me up to speed on what's happened while I was out?

[ It takes Cassie a few hours to realize that her dad isn't the only one who's gone. And then a little more to gather up... something. Courage, strength, to reach out to anyone other than Tony, anyway. But she knows her dad has more friends here, and... stuff. ]

Hi, um. Cassie here. I'm sorry that I'm with the bad news today, but...

For those that know them, my dad - Scott Lang - and Teddy Altman are gone from Keeliai. They'll be fine back home, I think, so that's at least something good, right?

Yeah, that's all.

[ Curtly: ]

Morning. Kyle Rayner; Green Lantern Corps. I’ve been here fifteen months. For those of you new here, hi.

[ He inhales, bites his lip, glad it’s an audio feed, before continuing evenly: ]

So, the stuff they feed us about there being three planes isn’t BS. [ a faintly amused noise ] We’re on the Life plane. The others are Death, and Dreaming, and they’re accessible with the right gateway. Our enemy is said to live in the Death plane and control the environment there. We can’t recreate the original portals we found when the turtle stopped at Sinbrilee, but even so I wouldn’t really recommend sightseeing [ unless someone’s highly inclined towards raising hell, but Kyle doesn’t mention that, not even as a joke. ]. The Dreaming plane seems pretty harmless so far. We’ve done some exploring, here’s what we’ve got:

1. Any injuries you sustain there won’t heal automatically when you come back. We don’t know about dying but if you can get hurt there, you can die there too.
2. It changes depending on your subconscious. If someone else is in there with you, they can affect your environment if they try hard enough. I’d advise building some mental defences: meditation, et cetera… especially if you’re from a world that doesn’t have telepaths. If you need a hand with this, call me.
3. Eating and drinking works normally.
4. Powers - any kind - don’t work reliably and sometimes don’t work at all. Neither does technology.
5. You can enter and leave using different gateways no problem, doesn’t matter how far apart they are, but if you’ve only got the one, I’d say use it to get out. There’s plenty more gateways than the ones we got for research, but we don’t know where they are, and for all you know you could end up at one on the ocean floor.
6. The runes for all gateways have to be exact. Scraping one, even barely, shuts it down.
7. Don’t fall asleep there. You get stuck in your own nightmares - or somebody else’s - and it’s a pain in the ass to get out.
8. If something lives there, it’s pretty good at hiding.
9. Time’s much slower. A few days there could mean a few minutes here.

[ Beat. ]

If anybody else has got research they’d like to share, we’d appreciate hearing it.

[ The message is hand-delivered. Included are Kyle’s sketches from Mark’s description regarding the previous batch of heroes present in Keeliai: a rough drawing of the being Tele, a tree-like creature, gesticulating, captioned as “tree people??”. There’s sketch of a woman with harsh features, one leg, and a cane. Several maps, too, showing campaigns; one describing an assault on the Death plane, and a final description at the end regarding the explosions destroying the city. ]

[ After a while, he also sends a copy to movie!Hal Jordan, but puts it in a sealed envelope and leaves before the man opens the door. ]

[It's been several months since Connor arrived on the Turtle, and, while he's been around town as he acclimates, he hasn't bothered much with the console in his apartment yet, preferring to learn about the city and the others there through experience.

However, it's reaching the point of antisocial and avoidant, and, so, here he is, wearing a t-shirt that proclaims that he has been kidnapped to fight a cosmic entity and all he got was this t-shirt. Except, of course, that he doesn't even own the shirt, he liberated it from Kyle Rayner.]

Hello, this is Connor Hawke. This is belated; I've been here two months, and this is actually my second cruise. I don't remember the first one, so I'd like to apologize in advance to anyone that knew me then.

[Now that the formalities are out of the way, he's at a loss for what to say. Asking mundane questions about life on the turtle, even if he still has some, seems surreal.]

If anyone needs any help with anything, feel free to let me know. I feel like I haven't done enough to help.

That's it, really. I thought I'd help break up the monotony of new arrivals and departure announcements. They don't sit well with me, but I can't speak for the rest of you.

[Hello, turtleland, hello. It's been a while once again, yeah? But Hal is here now and he looks... well, he doesn't look great, but its clear he's doing his best to ignore the dark circles around his eyes and the obvious weary exhaustion on his face. He's even smiling now, actually, attempting to look as cheerful as possible.]

Hey. Been a while since I really used one of these things. Things just got pretty busy and all that - can't help it when things like that happen, huh?

[In busy more or less equals to 'constant nightmares' and a desire to ignore anything superhero related. Hal has not been really having it easy ever since the whole fog and bottle thing last month.]

Anyway, uh--heard one of the bosses in Stark's place is gone, but the party must go on, and all that. Anybody have an idea of what kind of party they want? [Brief pause as something comes to mind.] I mean, sure, its usually only for employees, but maybe if there's enough interest we can make it a public thing. Might be good to mingle a bit more than usual crowd, yeah? As long as there's interest for it.

[Anything to keep himself distracted. Hal just kind of needs that right now because for him, his superheroing days are over.]

[For once, Zatanna isn't broadcasting from her room. She doesn't even bother trying to hide the Guilt on her face as she appears on screen, the clear signs of a random cafe in the background. It would have been a stretch to say she hadn't really slept much since returning from the bottle, but she's certainly not taking any joy from the memories playing over and over in her mind.]

[Memories she needed to get away from, if only for a little while. And there was really only one way to do that:]

Does anybody have a place I can stay for a few days?

[Good afternoon, everyone. Today, your console has been graced with the presence of one distinctly alien face. The smile he directs at the camera is both gentle and pleasant, though his black eyes are utterly unreadable.

Musingly:]
I was told that I was brought here to fight a war against a foe we are not permitted to name, though first I am to procure employment so that I may stay in the comfortable accommodations that have been made for me. [These comfortable accommodations are, in fact, in the Water Sector. They're not luxurious to many, but they certainly are to him.] Which is very odd indeed! In the midst of a war, I had expected something a bit more... sparse.

[He pauses, gaze diverted out the window to where he knows people and a bustling city await further exploration, but he returns his attentions to the screen shortly thereafter.]

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Saint Walker. The people that had welcomed me into this place have been informative, but I'm inclined to seek out alternative sources, and so I turn to you. If you have any information or advice about this place, you would have my thanks. Or, of course, if you've any information about employment. I'm afraid I haven't had a job in the traditional sense in quite some time.

[Peter's not quite in the right place, mentally, to put up a video post. And he definitely isn't sure he should put it up from his own suite. So he's found his way to the nearest cafe, with an oversized hoodie pulled up over his head, and is starting up only an audio feed.]

Never a boring moment around here, is there? One minute we're normal-ish, celebrating Valentine's Day, and the next we're battling evil miasma inside a magic bottle.

Does anyone ever wonder what happened to the idea of rest and relaxation?

[FILTERED to the Spider-family]

...Sorry. About what happened back there. You-- You guys know that that-- That wasn't me. You know that, right...?

[The feed clicks to life even as Aang is settling himself back down into the chair opposite the console. He's not a big kid to begin with, but there's something about his posture that makes him look even smaller than his usual scrawny self. Perhaps it's the overall lack of enthusiasm to his movements, or the fact that his eyes are red-rimmed, as if he'd recently stopped crying.
Either way, he doesn't look like happy camper.]

Hi. I'm Aang. I just...Toph was here a lot longer than I've been, and she knows way more people than I do. I'm sure I haven't even met a good number of you, which is why I'm using this to let you know that...she's not here anymore.

[He pauses, turning towards something off camera. Something that makes him smile in spite of his sadness. For those that'd recognize it, there's a slight background chittering of a flying lemur.]

Thanks for the reminder, Buddy.

[Aang looks back at the console.]

If there's something you might like to remember her by, let me know. Though...I should warn you, the stuffed badgermole has already been spoken for.

Well someone here has completely dropped the ball. I know there are at least a few people around who are rich and Earth-savvy enough to get everyone presents for the month. Maybe celebrate the break from so much cold or the coming of good fortune or something like that. We could use a celebration right about now.

At the very least, I'll try to do my part. [Tony gives the network a winning smile and holds up a small, strange-looking flower playfully. It almost makes the next part sound more like a joke than any real offer.] I've got a few too many of these, so if anyone would like to take them off my hands, I'll be happy to give you a discount.

And if you're available, Miss Frost, I'd love to spend some quality time with you. If your schedule will allow it, of course.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm personally missing my chocolate.

Bryn Zethir is gone. She left me in charge of the Brazen Turtle, so if her employees could touch base with me so we can work out where to go from here, that'd be appreciated. Everybody else, first drink's on the house.

[A slight pause, and then he wets his lips.]

And for those of you that knew her, The Archive has returned home as well.

( diana is seated at one of the consoles in a café when the video feed begins. it seems she’s already gone a bit native—there’s a kedan-style cloak draped around her shoulders, apparently all she needs to keep warm. still, the glint of gold from her armor is perfectly visible, as is the tiara set amongst her dark curls. she’s making no pretense of who she is, should anyone be able to recognize her.

she lifts a hand in simple greeting, smiling. she’s perfectly calm, though anyone who knows her well can probably sense just a bit of tension in the set of her shoulders, the way her eyes are focused.
)

There’s many of you here that I know. And many more that I do not.

My name is Diana, and while I’m newly arrived I believe I’ve gotten most of the basics of the situation. It seems you’ve all been busy, recently.

( there’s nothing mocking about her words, and her smile is genuine and honest. she pauses, for a moment, as though to give her audience a breather. then, she continues— )

I’m sure there’s a lot to be done, and I’m willing to offer my assistance to anyone who should need it. But first, I would like to be better acquainted with all of you. If we’ve met before, I’m sure you’ll come and say hello. And if we haven’t, it’s never too soon for introductions.

( both before and after this broadcast and subsequent conversations, diana will be flying over the same café. in effect, she’s using herself as a beacon. feel free to run into her in person if you’d prefer. )

I knew I’d get this thing on eventually. All it it needed was a few swift kicks to help it along.

[Hawke looks rather smug with himself right now. Despite the crash course given to him, of which he may have zoned out of once or twice, he understands this console about as much as he does magic. The fact he got it working on his own means a lot to him.]

Alright, from what I hear this place is in need of heroes and the like. So much so in fact that they’ve started kidnapping people right off the street. Now I don’t mean to criticize your emperor, but that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Generally it’s considered good manners to ask someone for help instead of just grabbing them by their short and curlies and just dragging them off somewhere.

[He wags his finger in a very ‘you should be ashamed of yourself’ manner.]

Maker, at least people in Kirkwall gave me the illusion of choice before asking me to do something stupid and dangerous. They usually pay me too.

[When he sighs it’s utterly exaggerated.]

Oh well, no use in complaining I suppose.

[Of course that doesn’t mean he’s actually going to stop anytime soon.]

Since I’m here I may as well play along. Chances are this is all some kind of Fade...dream...thing, so what’s the worst that can happen? Besides the possibility of demonic possession.

[The feed turns on to show Eridan, surely his is a face everyone wants to see so soon, especially after his last post. Though, he looks really fidgety. Drumming his fingers on the desk as he starts:]

So, back when I was on my planet, Alternia, I used to do this thing. Orphanin'. Y'know, go around killin' the lusii a other trolls. I mean, it serwed a purpose, was no mindless slaughter or the like. Was actually a pretty damn honorable job to hawe. Probably the most if I'm bein' honest here. Thankless though it were.

[Is this story time with Eridan? It is possible. The finger drumming intensifies continues. His fins are even flicking here and there with notable agitation as he tries to keep up the ruse of being anything but. Stoic is the aim, but sadly Eridan's aim falls pretty far from the mark when it concerns anything that ain't a gun or wand.]

See, it was called Orphanin', 'cos unlike you pink animals who raise their young all weird an' sympathetic-like, we trolls are taken in by beasts-- [as if on cue, there's a rather large white seahorse peeking into view. Eridan spares him a glance, before shoving his head out of view. He's really a polite child, even to the creature that raised him. But hey, maybe that explains a few things! How mannerly could a guy even be when he was raised by a giant floating seahorse?]

--anyway, it was my job to lay slaughter to a good amount a them, leawin' many a troll without their lusus, like I was some kickass royal slayer or some such. Which I was, don't need you lot thinkin' different and such. The ocean was my killin' cauldron, really...

[He lets out a near dreamy sigh recalling those good memories. But honestly, it just frustrates him more than anything.]

...kinda got off track there for a sec, the whole bloody point a this is to say I'm pretty fuckin' restless as a late, an' sponge numbingly bored. I'm more used to hawin' far more... [violent] things to do.

So, I figured to myself, that I'd ask you lot if you knew a any places where there may be a influx a beasts. I think my intentions are obwious, but I mean, if I don't do somethin' and soon I may be liable to kill someone outta boredom.

[A PAUSE FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT...]

An exaggeration, a course.

HOWEWER, I suppose I could shed some consideration an' ask if you pink skinned beasts got some sorta taboo concernin' the harm a random beasts, but surely you ain't that sensitiwe of a species... right?

[See, He can totally be all sorts of considerate, nothing but consideration here! He's even aiming his pent up violent frustrations at animals and not people!! Such consideration. He's like a dog that's been in its kennel all day with no way to burn off that violent energy, so he's... trying, at least?]

Or, if any a you got any better ideas, I guess I'm willin' to listen to it. But it better not be something's stupid like "hawe you tried not bein' wiolent?" 'Cos fuck that noise.

Dick's gone.  I caught the locals trying to clean out his room earlier.

Not that she'd actually really tried, and at least she had been given a tutorial on this machine. But she launches right into science and gains surety and excitement as she talks. ]

The, uh, local people said I should post my questions on here. I'm looking for information regarding physical properties of this world. Obviously the gravity is at least highly similar to that on Earth, but [ she holds up a device that's not got a whole lot of activity on the screen ] I need to do some minor calibrations to this in order to properly catch anomalies. And if I can properly study the anomalies then I can probably duplicate them in reverse to get back home.

[ Jane is really excited at this point. She takes a moment to catch herself and calm down with a tiny huff of laughter. She's well aware of how odd her excitement can be to strangers. ]

I'm Jane Foster, by the way. I study gravitational anomalies and wormholes and the like. Is there a university here somewhere? It would be nice to have a place to do research while I'm here.

[ After all the news of the day, Peter found himself struggling with a very important decision. No one, as far as he knew, had been aware of what lay in his possession when he arrived here. If anyone did, he imagined people would be chasing him down or trying to beat down his door. This was majorly phenomenal cosmic power that they were talking about; imagine anyone being able to bend matter, energy - basically, all of reality - to their whims.

But there was a chance here that the object in his possession, the cosmic cube, could be used to combat whatever flarkin' jerk that was creeping about this place. He knew better than to let it be used for something that could alter history - that was a road no one should ever go down. Taking out this Malicant entity in the here and now, though? What harm would there be in that?

So after hours over agonizing, he finally settled down at his console to address everyone who would listen.
]

Evening, everyone. The name's Peter Quill, if we haven't met before. I'm sorry to be making an introduction at such a somber time, but if we hesitate, we could lose a lot of important time.

[ He paused for just a second. ]

The universe I come from, the things I've dealt with- I'm sure some of you have dealt with similar things in your universes. I've seen cosmic forces take on human and monstrous forms; in my universe, there are people who've spoken to Death herself.

These forces all function on a scale you can't even imagine, and there are things that make even them concerned.

[ Peter's brow furrowed, and his fingers laced together more tightly. ]

When I arrived here, about two weeks ago, I arrived with one of those things in my possession. Some might call it a weapon, but it's way more than that. It was way more than that, at least. [ Here came the hitch. ]

Before I go begging for any and all scientific types and magic-users to come out of the woodwork, and definitely before I let any of you know what I have with me- you all need to know that this thing is broken and needs to be fixed. It's a long shot, but it could be one of our best options in fighting whatever's floating around.
