( diana is seated at one of the consoles in a café when the video feed begins. it seems she’s already gone a bit native—there’s a kedan-style cloak draped around her shoulders, apparently all she needs to keep warm. still, the glint of gold from her armor is perfectly visible, as is the tiara set amongst her dark curls. she’s making no pretense of who she is, should anyone be able to recognize her.

she lifts a hand in simple greeting, smiling. she’s perfectly calm, though anyone who knows her well can probably sense just a bit of tension in the set of her shoulders, the way her eyes are focused. )

There’s many of you here that I know. And many more that I do not.

My name is Diana, and while I’m newly arrived I believe I’ve gotten most of the basics of the situation. It seems you’ve all been busy, recently.

( there’s nothing mocking about her words, and her smile is genuine and honest. she pauses, for a moment, as though to give her audience a breather. then, she continues— )

I’m sure there’s a lot to be done, and I’m willing to offer my assistance to anyone who should need it. But first, I would like to be better acquainted with all of you. If we’ve met before, I’m sure you’ll come and say hello. And if we haven’t, it’s never too soon for introductions.

( both before and after this broadcast and subsequent conversations, diana will be flying over the same café. in effect, she’s using herself as a beacon. feel free to run into her in person if you’d prefer. )

Not even if I wanted to. Apparently.

[One more surprise to add to the day. Zatanna was certainly fond of Diana, yes. The woman was one of the founding members of the Justice League, after all. A friend of her father's. Even the "other" Diana that had spent time on the Turtle, whom she'd also gotten to know, had been very sweet.]

[But the thought of actually being on such familiar terms with her? Being able to laugh and quip and joke with her so easily? That was a world she never realized could have existed. What was next? A world where she has a fling with Bruce Wayne?]

Did you want to meet up in person at some point? Say, for a cup of cocoa? Or lunch? [How do you feel about Taquitos?]

I have this strong feeling you and I would have so much to talk about.

I would be honored by your company, Zatanna.

_{( and she sincerely means that. she has an endless amount of respect for the other woman, and finds herself genuinely curious about this younger version. this zatanna must be quite different--especially if she already knows who diana is--and diana realizes that. she doesn't expect her to be her friend as a reproduced miniature. but she finds, already, that it's easy to like her. )}

Cocoa or lunch would be lovely, whenever you'd like to meet.

Well, lunchtime is usually my ideal for having lunch...but that's up to you, and whether or not you can get away once the rest of the 'surprises' start to show up.

[Because he they will. They always do.]

Suprises, hmm. _{( she had a feeling. )}

[Roughly a minute later, Diana will find a small image file being uploaded to her console: RESTAURANTDIRECTIONS.GIF Upon being opened, the map will show a bright, blinking red circle over the street block of the restaurant, with a matching arrow and the words "RIGHT HERE"]

[She's looking forward to it.]

[So forward to it, in fact, that she showed up almost half an hour early. Fortunately, the place that she offered to meet Diana at had an outdoor seating area. It was cold, but nothing a fluffy jacket and warm hat couldn't fix. Or a steaming cup of cocoa. Extra marshmallows. She'd earned it.]

_{( it takes diana a bit longer than she expects to make her rounds-- she didn't expect half the league to be here either, though. but she's only about five minutes late when she gets to the cafe, still wearing just a loose cloak over her costume. she's an imposing figure, and towers over most of the kedan.

it doesn't take her very long to spot zatanna, and when she does she lifts a hand in greeting. )}

Hello. I hope you haven't been waiting long.

[Zatanna stood to mirror the greeting, tilting her head upward to meet with the Amazonian's eyes. Towers was an understatement. Compared to a fifteen-year-old who was a bit on the small side for her age to begin with.]

Not really, no.

You're...a lot taller than I remember.

Oh?

_{( she finds that faintly amusing. she doesn't think much about herself in other universe--or at least she won't, until odyssey-- but it's still an interesting thought. she quickly takes a seat, though, so the tallness isn't as obvious. )}

[In her defense, it has been a while. And the majority of the times she'd seen the Wonder Woman of her world were either from afar, or on television. Much like the rest of the population.]

Then again, I guess a lot of people I've seen here are taller than I remember. Must be something in your water.

[She sits back down, indicating towards the mug.]

Spicy Hot Chocolate. Interested?

We stretch, a lot.

_{( her jokes are always blandly delivered, entirely straight-faced. )}

Always. _{( she says in response. hot chocolate was never something they had on themyscira, but she's been in man's world long enough to know her own tastes.

after a moment's pause, she considers zatanna thoughtfully. )}

It's a little strange, seeing you like this. But not in a bad way.

[A quick signal to one of the servers put in the order for a second mug for Diana.]

How are you used to seeing me? Besides older, obviously.

Well, you're obviously very similar. But the Zatanna of my universe is, as I told you, closer to my age. We've worked together for many years, so she knows me better than most people.

And she has a rather wicked sense of humor.

[Once upon a time, she hated the comparison. When she first arrived, and started to encounter alternate versions of people who she knew. Who were supposed to know her. But instead, knew a "her" who had apparently...caused a lot of trouble. And not the good kind, either. Not judging from all the talks she'd had with Superman and Kyle. And all the extra glaring she'd received from Batman.]

[But for some reason, when Diana paralleled the two, it didn't sting. It didn't annoy her. It actually felt like a compliment.]

I really hope that isn't you implying my humor's gotten soft in my young age. Just ask Kyle.

Perhaps I intend to judge for myself. _{( but she's happy that zatanna seems so familiar with kyle--hopefully that extends to the rest of her universe's representatives here. )}

Is your world very different from ours, in your experience?

['Your world kind of sucks a lot more']

Mmm...yes and no. We seem to have a lot of the same people. Same bad guys, and they're all about as lame as ever. Same good guys. Give or take.

So far, I think the only major difference, especially for me, seems to be the weird generation gap going on. I mean, back home, you work with my dad. Not me. I'm on a Team with Robin and the others.

The Titans? Or Young Justice? _{( it's hard getting a working timeline going, especially with how many different incarnations the younger teams have had, in her world.

the idea that the generations might be switched up is strange, too. it means that universe isn't just hers from a different vantage point, or one that's experienced different events. something inherent to it is fundamentally different. )}

[She grins at this, as if Diana had stumbled upon some kind of private joke. Complete with a good-natured roll of the eyes.]

Neither. We don't have a name. Never did. We're just the Team.

Well, that's a functional title, at least.

_{( sometimes she thinks all the different names are a bit silly--especially when it comes to the jla and the jsa and the jlu and what have you. )}

[She shrugs nonchalantly, having very little of an opinion in that regard.]

Well, the public isn't exactly supposed to know about us. I mean, that's pretty pointless here, since it seems like all the counterparts from your world went on a reality show, of all things. [Oh, yes. Bart and Tim told her ALL about "Mister Fantastic". SIGH.] I wouldn't've known about it either, if dad hadn't brought me for training with Black Canary that one time.
