( diana is seated at one of the consoles in a café when the video feed begins. it seems she’s already gone a bit native—there’s a kedan-style cloak draped around her shoulders, apparently all she needs to keep warm. still, the glint of gold from her armor is perfectly visible, as is the tiara set amongst her dark curls. she’s making no pretense of who she is, should anyone be able to recognize her.

she lifts a hand in simple greeting, smiling. she’s perfectly calm, though anyone who knows her well can probably sense just a bit of tension in the set of her shoulders, the way her eyes are focused. )

There’s many of you here that I know. And many more that I do not.

My name is Diana, and while I’m newly arrived I believe I’ve gotten most of the basics of the situation. It seems you’ve all been busy, recently.

( there’s nothing mocking about her words, and her smile is genuine and honest. she pauses, for a moment, as though to give her audience a breather. then, she continues— )

I’m sure there’s a lot to be done, and I’m willing to offer my assistance to anyone who should need it. But first, I would like to be better acquainted with all of you. If we’ve met before, I’m sure you’ll come and say hello. And if we haven’t, it’s never too soon for introductions.

( both before and after this broadcast and subsequent conversations, diana will be flying over the same café. in effect, she’s using herself as a beacon. feel free to run into her in person if you’d prefer. )

How did they leave, do you know? Or what happened to them afterward?

No. People just disappear, without warning.

Kid Flash came and went a few times, but the last was a while ago. And Robin...I woke up one morning and saw the kedan moving this things out of his room. That's how you know people are gone for good.

Which means the kedan can know definitively, even if we cannot.

[She straightens a little in her seat, just as the waiter returns with Diana's drink. A faint smile appears. Only slightly forced.]

On the plus side, you should see the ones I've been able to collect since I've been here.

It's... a bit much, all at once. But aside from being brought here without knowing first, they've been mostly good surprises.

You have a point. Manhattan can be pretty...sometimes...but it's definitely got nothing on Keelai in that sense.

Plus, I never got to live in a giant treehouse there.

Where I grew up, trees were for climbing. Not for living.

I suppose that will be an adjustment, now.

I wouldn't exactly call it the most popular of styles, but half the kids I knew in school had one of those in their backyards. Or knew somebody who did.

Come to think of it...where did you say they put you again? What sector?

Oh, they exist. The Titans even had one for a time as their headquarters.

I'm in the Wood Sector. So I'll be experiencing one firsthand, soon enough.

Oh, cool. So we'll get to be neighbors.

It's actually a lot better than you'd think. My neighbor and I use our windows to visit each other, since it takes less time to climb over on the branches than to go around the normal way. [Come to think of it, window visitations in general were far more common than the 'normal' way]

I'm used to visitors stopping by my window. But they usually fly.

Though at least they have the common decency to bring pie.

I don't mind so much. It's just a little strange to hear, after growing up without any brothers or sisters of my own.

Sisters and siblings are different, I've found. But even if you were born without them, you can always adopt.
