( diana is seated at one of the consoles in a café when the video feed begins. it seems she’s already gone a bit native—there’s a kedan-style cloak draped around her shoulders, apparently all she needs to keep warm. still, the glint of gold from her armor is perfectly visible, as is the tiara set amongst her dark curls. she’s making no pretense of who she is, should anyone be able to recognize her.

she lifts a hand in simple greeting, smiling. she’s perfectly calm, though anyone who knows her well can probably sense just a bit of tension in the set of her shoulders, the way her eyes are focused. )

There’s many of you here that I know. And many more that I do not.

My name is Diana, and while I’m newly arrived I believe I’ve gotten most of the basics of the situation. It seems you’ve all been busy, recently.

( there’s nothing mocking about her words, and her smile is genuine and honest. she pauses, for a moment, as though to give her audience a breather. then, she continues— )

I’m sure there’s a lot to be done, and I’m willing to offer my assistance to anyone who should need it. But first, I would like to be better acquainted with all of you. If we’ve met before, I’m sure you’ll come and say hello. And if we haven’t, it’s never too soon for introductions.

( both before and after this broadcast and subsequent conversations, diana will be flying over the same café. in effect, she’s using herself as a beacon. feel free to run into her in person if you’d prefer. )

[There's a touch of bitterness, but he masks it quickly enough. He's got nothing against these people. It's not them that brought him here, they're just unlucky enough to be at the receiving end of whatever ire he feels.]

[Instead, he looks over to her and smiles. It's worn at the edges, but sincere.]

_{( she reaches out to grip his shoulder, giving him a comforting squeeze. )}

I'm glad to hear it. And I'm grateful, that you've been here to keep things together.

[The smile turns sheepish.]

It's usually quiet around here, though.

[mythically]

Living up to the Lantern name, I see.

_{( not that she's much better. she usually crushes things rather than blows them up, though. )}

It does seem... tranquil. I wasn't sure whether to trust that feeling.

[imaginate]

That's one selection criteria nobody saw coming.

[A beat, as he looks around. A few kedan are on their way to the market, and one stops to gaze upwards at them but resumes his journey soon enough.]

The turtle's head is where it's truly quiet - there's always something happening in the city.

[mythically]

You might want to revise the oath.

_{( she pauses after that, thoughtful. )}

He's actually a living creature, isn't he? Has anyone... spoken to him?

[imaginate]

[He'd quip something about not being able to rhyme, but the thought of Asti brings a different smile to his face; one of contentment.]

Yeah, he uses dreams: our minds can't really handle a direct telepathic connection. [A pause.] Maybe J'onn could, but he's not here.

[mythically]

What about simply speaking Turtle?

_{( not a joke. )}

[imaginate]

[He shrugs, exaggeratedly.]

Arthur's tried. It went a bit — [gesticulates]

[mythically]

Alright. We'll keep that one off the list.

_{( sighing. )}

[imaginate]

Or someone who speaks Turtle would show up, you never know.

[Keeping hope alive. One more thing he thought he'd never be able to do, without the Corps.]

Anyway, you can always go there and have a one-sided conversation. It's actually pretty cool.

[And it helps that they're not the only ones doing it.]

Maybe I'll brush up on my Turtle, first.
