➢ 002 | VIDEO

[It has been a very interesting two months for Aya thus far. The young not-so-Artificial Intelligence has already learned so much. About Keelai. About the multiverse. About her fellow Foreign "visitors" and, perhaps most importantly, about herself. And how little she actually knows about herself, and the circumstances surrounding her apparent unique creation.]

[Which is what brings her to the Network for a third time. Her eyes are shining with their usual curiosity, although this time, they are enhanced by a certain...hesitation behind them. An uncertainty that emphasizes her surprisingly (and deceptively) young age.]

There is something I am curious about. As your localized Network System appears to be the best place to make such public inquiries, I have chosen to make mine here as well.

[Somehow, when she preempts with this rather innocent statement, it sounds like she's apologizing for wasting everyone's time. Despite the importance to her, personally.]

I have had several conversations regarding...memories. In particular, those that people are able to access, and those they are not. It has been drawn to my attention that, upon departing from this world, any and all memories of this place are to be deleted from one's memory banks without fail. [She is not okay with this, of course, and yet this is still not the main focus of her post.] It has also been drawn to my attention that there are certain memories in which the majority of organic beings are capable of retaining as well as forgetting.

I was programmed to never forget. And yet...I have been made aware that there are certain events which must have occurred in my life that I cannot remember. I find this both curious and disconcerting. Which is why I must ask:

Is it common for one to possess no memories of the circumstances surrounding one's birth?

More so, I am also curious as to precisely what kinds of memories everyone appears to retain best.

[[PRIVATE MESSAGE - TONY STARK (MCU)]]

[Shortly after her more public message, one in a drastically different change of tone will appear on Tony's screen. For either him or JARVIS to encounter first]

I have completed the designs of the sweaters--[here, a small image of said sweater will appear on his screen for visual]-- you requested for the office. Pending your approval, and a total count of sweaters necessary, I shall proceed to create one for each member of the company.

Not one iota. Trustworthy people usually don't abduct other people to be canon fodder for their wars. They ask for help.
manofiron: (opinions? y/n?)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-21 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Do sectors typically abduct Green Lanterns and hold them prisoner by way of asking for help? Because that's not how it works where I'm from. Unless the request for help comes with a death threat. Then it usually works like that.
manofiron: (are you listening to yourself)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-21 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Sure we should. Faulting people is what we do. It's like, hard-wired into our genetic code somewhere.

[ He's kidding, but only just. ]

Look, I'm not saying we shouldn't help people. Helping peoples' fine. But we shouldn't believe everything we're told either.
manofiron: (yeah okay)

[ He's used to strange looks. He knows where he is with strange looks. It's happy ones that seem to indicate someone's pleased with him that off-balance him. ]

Atta girl. I don't know who Honor Guard Rayner is or why the poor person got saddled with such an unwieldy name — [ He's kidding. He really doesn't know Rayner, but he knows that isn't a first name. ] — but unless he or she is a huge creep, I applaud your shrewd sense of judgment.
manofiron: (how do I get you into bed with me?)

He better not be. I demand only the best and most morally upstanding for my employees. [ No, he doesn't. But he does cool it on the irreverence and continues with a more genuine smile. ] I am glad to hear it. We all need people like that in our lives. There aren't nearly enough of them.
manofiron: (not buying it)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-21 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[ That gets her a wink. ]

Only the special ones. The rest can go fend for themselves. I know, contradiction. But it's true.

[ Translation: Tony likes AI better than humans and since she is one, that means she gets special treatment. ]

Our little secret though, okay? Don't tell your coworkers I like you better than them.
manofiron: (so smug right now)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-21 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ Give him time to admit he has feelings and it'll end up being an interpretation that's right on the money. ]

Exactly. Also that you got a raise. And an office. A bigger office. Did you have one already? Now it's bigger.
manofiron: (I see what you did there)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-21 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ Aya, please, you're killing him. Let him give you stuff. It's the only way he knows how to effectively communicate. ]

Of course it's necessary! It's absolutely necessary. You can't lord your position over everyone without an office. It's the mark of getting paid a lot of money to do whatever you damn well please. You have to take it. The social structure of the working world will crumble if you don't.

[ Also, he's a drama queen. ]

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-23 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That way is too hard. :( ]

Nah, I like to delegate titles. Iron Man's the only one I need. And that's not really a title. It's more like a state of mind. You can be the lord instead. Lord Aya of the Lanterns. It has a nice ring to it, I'm sold.
manofiron: (trying to flirt again)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-24 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a lot better than some of the things I've called people. Just ask Dummy.

[ It's true. Tony's nicknames are occasionally terrible and he knows it. Dummy also likes to play stupid, so it's no one's fault that he got saddled with that name but his own. ]

We should probably get you an assistant. Someone to handle your calls, take notes, the whole nine yards.
manofiron: (daydreaming about something)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-02-28 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
That's like the million dollar Jeopardy question.

[ His family. His first friend. His assistant. His sometimes chef. One of his greatest, if sloppiest, creations. ]

He's part of the family. First AI I created. Remind me to introduce you sometime. He's here too.
manofiron: (let me think about that)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-03-01 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, my bad. Most people aren't that thrilled to meet him. [ A beat. ] Usually he spills something on them. I can't blame them. I'll bring to him work tomorrow, but he's not quite like JARVIS. For the record. I built him when I was a kid. A young kid, so he's not as sophisticated looking.
manofiron: (yeah okay)

[personal profile] manofiron 2014-03-05 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Then we'll have a "Bring Your Dummy to Work" day.

[ He flashes her a smile. ]

Just give me a few days to get the kinks ironed out.

[ Because he really would like Dummy to not accidentally trash some of his more sensitive equipment. ]
