[ The thanks was more out of acknowledgment to something he'd already known, rather than actual gratitude. In definitely no mood to deal with Hayley's abrasive personality at the moment, he doesn't respond. ]

Nah, we found out. [A shrug] Apparently I do shapeshift completely. But I would never have known if it weren't for him.

And yes, I am. Son of Mars. Roman god of war? [He doesn't miss his father at all thank you very much. Ever since he landed on the turtle he's been able to concentrate, to focus, to think without his voice(s) inside his head. Sometimes he can even pretend to be a normal kid.]

Roman.. Oh yeah! Jason said something about the Roman and Greek gods being different somehow. [So confusing.]

And, well, I mean, Percy mentioned demigods having powers, but you sound more like a superhero. It threw me off, I guess.

Really?! [He hadn't mean to sound so excited. Sometimes he misses having his mechanical voice to speak for him, the foot in mouth syndrome was almost nonexistent when he used it.]

I mean, that's kind of a big compliment. Superheroes are really cool, we don't have them in our world. I mean, demigods can be like heroes! In a way. But the capes, the masks, the powers... it's all so cool.

[Although his fanboy reaction is a little more than Hayley's used to, it's almost nice to meet someone who gets what a big deal it is.]

My world doesn't have superheroes or demigods. It's all kind of new to me. [She idly reaches up to scratch her hair, smiling a little.] That's kind of why I think you guys are so cool.

[Waaaaaaaaait a minute.] Oh and.. I'm glad you got your voice back, by the way. I totally forgot you were mute last time I talked to you.

Oh! That's right, you hadn't heard me talk yet. [He gives her a thumbs up] We went through a kedan ritual. I was a bit scared at first? But it worked out just fine, and we got what he had lost back.

But I yeah, I get you. I'm. Well, I had only known about this kind of thing for like, 5 months? Before I got to the turtle. I couldn't believe at first, but it's a sort of thing you get quickly used to? But I guess... the fact that my own grandmother was the one to tell me all about it helped in my case, though.

That sounds.. super terrifying. [It's a shallow sentiment, true but easily admitted. She's so glad it didn't happen to her.]

This is kind of weird, but like, was your grandmother around and supportive and everything or not really?

She is a very strong woman, very... pushy? Mom raised me, but she was out a lot so I guess Grandmother also did. I love her, and she was nice to me but he's a very 'Asian' woman. She thinks culture is very, incredibly important- even though I'm a fourth generation Chinese! I never really got it, but I've been noticing a lot of legends tie up lately, so I guess it was all part of the plan.

She never told me I was a demigod until my mother died and she had to send me to Camp, though. And it all went so fast, like I was still processing it and destroying Grandma's teacups because I could and it felt good to be destructive and then she comes along, tells me my family comes from a long line of demigods and ships me off to train with a wolf?

[That's more than Hayley expects, so she responds to the most obvious bit.]

Romulus and Remus were thrown to the Tibet by the brother of their grandfather. Lupa Capitolina is the she-wolf that rescued them and suckled them until they were found by a farmer.

Nowadays she simply tests demigods- Roman demigods, that is. She begins their training and if they work hard enough she deems them worthy of going to camp.

So you were.. tested by an immortal wolf.. to go to a camp for demigods.. but only the Romans..?

I'm gonna. Figure out some way for you to get notified if I vanish so you're never... not sure.
