001 | Video

[To be honest, he would have preferred text, but this is a perfect opportunity to test out the console. The keyboard is self-explanatory. The video function isn't. One of the kedan had offered to show Skulduggery how it worked, but he’d politely declined. He didn’t particularly feel like being saddled with a guide for the entirety of his time here.]

Ah, there we go. Excellent.

[This does, of course, mean that he can now be seen. He was a little concerned about that when all of this was first being explained to him, but then he saw someone walking around in the city with blue skin and two heads. He’s rather less concerned now.

... He doesn't really have anything to ask, though, now that he’s thinking about it.]

Thank you. Carry on.

[Yes, that was a skull talking just then, Irish accent and moving jaw and all. Why do you ask?]

Not a pleasant story, then. [Why yes, that is a little joke of sorts.]
loquaciouslyfeline: (you know i don't mean a word of it)

It is quite an interesting name. Such names are common where you come from?

Well then, you certainly gave fair warning to those who would wish to rely upon you. [She doesn't mean it harshly at all; in fact, he seems like the sort she wouldn't be concerned relying upon herself, although only time can tell if that feeling is accurate.]

You are from a world of magic, then? That would explain how you are able to continue living in your current state.
loquaciouslyfeline: (intriguing)

[personal profile] loquaciouslyfeline 2014-03-29 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
[She chuckles at that.] I shall keep that in mind if I ever have need to ask you of anything.

I am quite certain magic does not exist where I am from, but having been here for some time, it's not particularly surprising to me. One would think others would have grown used to it in the time they've been here as well.
loquaciouslyfeline: (are you certain)

I hope you'll find I treat others fairly, given their actions. [She has a code of conduct, after all.]

Nor should they, I'd wager, given they are able to change their form at will. They must find the overwhelmingly large population of human-appearing foreigners strange. [It's still a little jarring for her, admittedly. The kedan provide more diversity of the like she is used to than the foreigners brought here, in spite of the wide range of backgrounds they come from.]

I must admit, it was rather interesting experiencing it when first arriving here. [Even if that wasn't directed at her specifically, she's chosen to take it as such.]

If it's not too bold to ask, what is it that you do? Clearly you've led an interesting life of sorts.
loquaciouslyfeline: (orly)

A detective does not seem like the sort to be involved in conflicts, though you're far from the standard in several regards already so exceptions are to be made. Pity you didn't arrive earlier; you might have been of use in the hunt for the previous Emperor's murderer, and perhaps the man would have been caught faster with more experienced individuals on the case.

[Skulduggery has managed to leave an impression of competence on her. Lecter certainly would not have eluded capture so long with more people hunting for him, that's for certain.]
loquaciouslyfeline: (pensive)

Nasty business, it was. [While she certainly didn't have any strong feelings towards Eshai, she could empathize with the kedan. Losing a strong leader was never good for a nation.]

As I can see. [Skeleton detectives certainly are exceptional.] What manner of combat would involve a sorcerous detective such as yourself, Mr. Pleasant?
loquaciouslyfeline: (chinhand)

[personal profile] loquaciouslyfeline 2014-04-06 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, that's a given. I was more asking the sort of combat that would require a detective to become involved.

[She sees your facetiousness and reiterates. Detectives aren't the kind to normally be engaged in combat.]

Naturally. [She, too, can play this game.]

Seems the sort of thing more suited for specialized military units, but your world seems far from the standard, what with sorcery being a factor in play.

[Forgive her for not being completely impressed with the whole 'save the world' schtick. She's from a universe with many worlds, and a much larger-scale view.]

Taking all that in to account, it's no surprise you'd want to step back to a smaller and less intense duty. [Amelia certainly enjoys her career in the navy, but even she knows eventually she'll want to retire, and a century is much longer than she expects to be serving.]

I myself have recently been on a sabbatical of sorts from my own work. [If you could call going on an interstellar mission on a hunt for a potentially legendary treasure a sabbatical. Her tone certainly makes it clear there's more to it than just a 'sabbatical'.]
loquaciouslyfeline: (attention is elsewhere)

[personal profile] loquaciouslyfeline 2014-04-07 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
[She grimaces slightly. That wasn't supposed to be something she wanted known, but if anything this just gives credit to his skills as a detective.]

I may have been responsible for some... more unorthodox maneuvers in an encounter with a Procyon scouting force. [She's proud of her success. Less so of the reprimanding and subsequent encouragement to take a break, as it were.]

The sabbatical itself proved to be anything but, of course. Much more excitement and adventure than one would normally think.
