[To be honest, he would have preferred text, but this is a perfect opportunity to test out the console. The keyboard is self-explanatory. The video function isn't. One of the kedan had offered to show Skulduggery how it worked, but he’d politely declined. He didn’t particularly feel like being saddled with a guide for the entirety of his time here.]
Ah, there we go. Excellent.
[This does, of course, mean that he can now be seen. He was a little concerned about that when all of this was first being explained to him, but then he saw someone walking around in the city with blue skin and two heads. He’s rather less concerned now.
... He doesn't really have anything to ask, though, now that he’s thinking about it.]
Thank you. Carry on.
[Yes, that was a skull talking just then, Irish accent and moving jaw and all. Why do you ask?]

Malicant, Malificent, Mevolent. Why do all-powerful villains always have names starting with M and following some variation of malevolent? It's uncanny.]

If it's not too bold to ask, what is it that you do? Clearly you've led an interesting life of sorts.

[Skulduggery has managed to leave an impression of competence on her. Lecter certainly would not have eluded capture so long with more people hunting for him, that's for certain.]
no subject
It's not generally detectives who get involved in conflicts, true. I, however, am an exceptional detective.
[... Okay, so he'll go a little out of his way.]
no subject
As I can see. [Skeleton detectives certainly are exceptional.] What manner of combat would involve a sorcerous detective such as yourself, Mr. Pleasant?
no subject
[Do you see the facetious smile? Do you? Well, then he must not be being facetious.]
And you? Space combat?
no subject
[She sees your facetiousness and reiterates. Detectives aren't the kind to normally be engaged in combat.]
Naturally. [She, too, can play this game.]

[Forgive her for not being completely impressed with the whole 'save the world' schtick. She's from a universe with many worlds, and a much larger-scale view.]
no subject
[Don't worry, Amelia. He wasn't expecting you to be impressed. He's met plenty of people who can be impressed enough for the both of them.]

I myself have recently been on a sabbatical of sorts from my own work. [If you could call going on an interstellar mission on a hunt for a potentially legendary treasure a sabbatical. Her tone certainly makes it clear there's more to it than just a 'sabbatical'.]
no subject
An enforced sabbatical, or otherwise?
no subject
I may have been responsible for some... more unorthodox maneuvers in an encounter with a Procyon scouting force. [She's proud of her success. Less so of the reprimanding and subsequent encouragement to take a break, as it were.]
The sabbatical itself proved to be anything but, of course. Much more excitement and adventure than one would normally think.
no subject
[Which is partly true. And Skulduggery's definitely interested in hearing more about Amelia's world. But he's also itching to get outside the suite and start exploring, and this is the first real opportunity to say so without... well, saying so.
He wouldn't normally take so much care, but congratulations, Amelia, he likes you.]
no subject
[Congratulations, Skulduggery, she likes you too.]
I must say, it has been a pleasure, Mr. Pleasant, but I've kept you quite a while. Perhaps we shall continue our talks at a later date?
[It's an open invitation. She would like to talk more in depth.]
no subject
[Although he's pretty sure he would prefer tea. He remembers liking tea, anyway.]
Skulduggery, please. I look forward to seeing you at a later date.
no subject
[She is assuming so, at least, unless it's just something about cake he can't eat. Which would be even more fascinating.]
Very well. Skulduggery. [It's fairly clear she's not quite used to addressing others without any prefixes.] Until we meet again?
no subject
[Depends on the nature of the walking, really, but that's completely beside the point.]
Until we meet again.
