[It's been several months since Connor arrived on the Turtle, and, while he's been around town as he acclimates, he hasn't bothered much with the console in his apartment yet, preferring to learn about the city and the others there through experience.

However, it's reaching the point of antisocial and avoidant, and, so, here he is, wearing a t-shirt that proclaims that he has been kidnapped to fight a cosmic entity and all he got was this t-shirt. Except, of course, that he doesn't even own the shirt, he liberated it from Kyle Rayner.]

Hello, this is Connor Hawke. This is belated; I've been here two months, and this is actually my second cruise. I don't remember the first one, so I'd like to apologize in advance to anyone that knew me then.

[Now that the formalities are out of the way, he's at a loss for what to say. Asking mundane questions about life on the turtle, even if he still has some, seems surreal.]

If anyone needs any help with anything, feel free to let me know. I feel like I haven't done enough to help.

That's it, really. I thought I'd help break up the monotony of new arrivals and departure announcements. They don't sit well with me, but I can't speak for the rest of you.

I walked into that. But really, why the sudden interest? You've never said no to a burger.

[Connor lets that one pass without poking at it too much. Something in the phrasing makes him think that asking him about how the yoga classes are going wouldn't go over well.]

I'm not the best cook in the world, but I think I've finally figured out what all the produce tastes like. Do you want to come by for dinner?

Dinner sounds great. I'll help you make sandwiches, and we can go on patrol or something later. It'll be just like old times, except I won't burn the food.

If you're trying to say that you've burned sandwiches, I'm writing the Guardians a letter.

No, I'm not all right with my head getting messed with, but I wouldn't be the hundredth person to complain on the network. It doesn't seem to get anywhere.

Um... I think the whole messing with heads thing is going on a lot, around here. What with the languages and everything.

[He sounds lukewarm in the greeting, but he's too polite to re-point out that he's been here since January or point out that he knows exactly what Superman has been busy with. Although there has to be a story there, he's certain of it. If it's offered, he'll listen, but all he can think is how genuinely lucky everyone is that Ollie wasn't here for that.]

Don't feel bad about it - I've been quiet while I get used to it here. I guess I'm settled. It doesn't take much to make me feel at home.

[If he sounds surprised by the lack of warmth in the greeting, he doesn't show it. He isn't going to delude himself into thinking people will forgive what the corruption did easily- the meeting with Mera and her family made it clear that wasn't going to be the case.]

We're alike in that regard. If you ever need suggestions for good vegetarian places I've gotten to know a few over the years- and recipes with the turtle's ingredients.

The language translation doesn't bother me as much. It's not hurting anyone.

[Caught off guard by the offer, which is a little left field.]

I'll take any recipes you have. I've been eating really basic foods. A lot of the vegetables don't cook the way I expect them too. The flavor changes too much.

[He pauses, hesitatingly.]

This doesn't have anything to do with Kyle, does it?

[Superman, are you hacking his threads?]

[He raises an eyebrow at the accusation. If he had, indeed, hacked the thread it would make sense, but as it is he's the one caught off guard now. He thinks he could hack it, if he wanted to- dealing with Kryptonian technology has made him quite good at computers in general.

But he would never spy on other's people's private conversations, and he assumed everyone would know as much.] No, it doesn't. I haven't talked to Kyle in a while.

Because he asked about vegetarian food recently.

[Five minutes ago, in fact. Forgive him for jumping to conclusions, but he'd lose all credibility if he didn't pay attention to coincidences.]

I thought he might've asked you about it, too. I'm used to people calling it rabbit food, so it's fresh on my mind that he didn't.

The recipes will help though, thank you. Have you figured out a use for those sea prunes they have at every stall in the market?

[ Softly, ] I can imagine people getting hurt by the disappearing or the not remembering.

Mere coincidence, I promise. I'm not sure if he even knows- I don't hide it, but I can't remember if the subject has come up with him. [He offers a smile- it's not often he finds other vegetarian superheroes to talk to, so the fact that Connor (along with Zatanna) shared the lifestyle stood up to him.]

I use them for flavor, as I would an orange's skin- but the taste is too strong for most human's palates.

[He laughs.]

Saying what, exactly?

[Connor nods once at this and seems satisfied with the response. He can chalk it up to serendipity.]

I'm not sure why anyone'd hide it. It's not like vegetarians are getting rounded up as sea-prune-worshiping witches. I used the ones I bought to start a small compost bin. Ollie'd approve.

That they may want to keep it under advisement that the wielder of a certain weapon can't handle a grilled cheese.

Even the appearances, with the constant flow of kids...

[He trails off, as he is talking to one of the turtle's teenagers.]

I'm sure you're handling it fine.

Let's just say where I was raised it was just seen as an oddity. [A twitch of his lips. He missed having an actual, normal conversation about a simple mundane subject- even if he's pretty sure he's only getting that because Connor is too polite to shut him off. The mention to Ollie... feels like a stab to his chest, but he isn't sure why.

He thinks he wouldn't like to see his reaction to all of this.]

So you have been here for two months, you said? You've picked busy ones for me and my family. I'm guessing you have a job by now?
