[You may be pleased to know, certain residents of Keelai, that Aya had no intentions of offering another long-winded highly detailed technical analysis of...whatever it is she's up to at the moment.  In fact, her latest message is surprisingly simple:]

It has been brought to my attention that my choice of vocabulary and diction is considered...unnecessarily formal by some.

[To put it mildly.]

I have made several attempts to alter my speech patterns, but have realized that I still lack a more concise understanding of what precisely entails formal versus familiar speech.  Therefore, I am seeking any an all information regarding more colloquial expressions or terms that may be used in everyday conversation, which I will do my best to learn and subsequently employ accordingly.

Thank you.

[Her eyes narrow, however, when the following message is delivered.  Anger was not quite an accurate assessment of her emotions at that particular moment...but annoyance wouldn't have been a stretch.]

You did not follow through with your agreement to meet with me last month, and have since done nothing to rectify this error.

I wish to know why.

Fair enough.

[He would personally find the idea of somebody telling him to talk differently a little silly, but to each their own.]

So what have you learned so far? I hope nobody's teaching you some inappropriate language.

[That's honestly shocking. If she was anybody else, he may have toyed around with that.]

A growing list...hmmm....what's your favorite phrase so far? It can't hurt to get a little bit of practice in, right?

Get a life...that's a good one actually. I think more people need to be told something like that. You could also say got to hell and some that just...yeah. They won't be necessary.

Yeah it doesn't really seem like your style. It's not exactly the phrase you would use to keep friends or anything.

[Not that he cared about that until recently...so...]

What else? I'm even more curious now.

[Idioms can get a little bewildering sometimes. Even Alvin can admit that it can be a real pain.]

Also a classic. My guess about the significance of that would...maybe be a way of saying that you don't really need much of an incentive to hear somebody out. A penny is really nothing compared to what might be bothering them, so you'll take even that. That's what I would think anyways.

I guess it's just a matter of interpretation. I'm probably the last person you would want to hear explain anything.

[A known liar is hardly a philosopher. Go figure.]

I'm kinda terrible at explaining.

[He scratches the back of his head before smiling a little more genuinely.]

No problem. If you ever need my pearls of wisdom...oh hey! There's an idiom right there! Anybody taught you that one yet?

That's right. In this case though, I used it more like a sarcastic remark since I'm nowhere near the right person to give advice. In this case, pearls of advice are very important.
