[Kaine had been trying to wait until Peter or someone got the consoles fixed, but that didn’t seem like it was coming any time soon, and he didn’t want to wait any longer. Taking a page from some of the others, he holds up a piece of paper with the same message written in four languages: English, French, Spanish, and Japanese. His handwriting is sloppy, but he was trying his best to make it legible in every language. The only thing betraying his true feelings on the news he’s delivering is the way he tightly clutches the paper. ]

May Parker and Miles Morales have gone home.

[He holds it up for about a minute, before holding up a new page.]

Anyone with business with either one of them can take it up with me.

[He pauses for another minute, then holds up a third piece of paper.]

What’s a more secure way to talk to people?

[Another minute, then a fourth piece of paper.]

[He puts the last piece of paper down and turns the feed off.]

[Taking the ring to fly there, Korra's already on the rooftop nearby the benches and leaning against the vine covered wall to keep anyone from accidentally falling over. But she steps forward once she sees him clear the stairs.]

Hey. I'm Korra. [He looks just as grumpy in person.] Sorry, I didn't want to say it over the network. Might have been risky.

Kaine. [Nods in greeting.] I get it, that's why I was asking for alternate means of communication. So what do you have in mind?

Okay, Kaine. [Only a small pause while she’s testing out his name.] So you know about the baby turtles.

[They’ve tended to change owners, so Korra’s lost track of who’s looking after one. But she assumes everyone’s come across them before.]

They speak using only their mind, with each other and with us. So what if we ask them to send messages to another turtle that can tell its parents?

I mean it’s not the best thing we’ve got, but it’s all I can think of. [She holds up her hand that has the ring on it, her mouth squinched to one side of her face.] Not like we can make some kind of network out of these.

[Kaine nods the her suggestion. That's... actually not a bad idea.

There's only one problem with that. My message involves food and knowing them they're all going to show up to my place when they hear about it and wreck it.

I don't think they're going to converge just for food.

[But Korra's not going to let that stop everything.]

You could always use the radio station to broadcast? Those have been coming in fine.

[Beat.]

You do have a radio, right?

My conversation with one of them consisted almost entirely about how delicious she thought restaurants were. Not the food, the buildings. I have a right to be concerned.

[Blank stare.]

People still use radios?

[She's almost offended at that, but mostly just dumbstruck at his surprise.]

Yeah, it's run by the Kents. In my world, the radio's the biggest thing we have. [Then it hits her.] You must have arrived after they set it up.

[He shrugs.] I thought everyone had them in their phones now. Or on those iPad things. [You damn kids, get off his lawn.]

I can't say I pay too much attention with what goes on on the computer, so I have no idea.

[Phones Korra’s heard of, but she only raises one eyebrow at the iPad thing. Whatever, she’ll ask about those later.]

Well they were giving out small radios when they started making broadcasts. Here, you can take mine. [She takes out her handheld radio and offers it.]

I’ve got two more at home. [Because just giving things doesn’t seem like a big deal to Korra, and Kaine looks like he could use a face brightener.]

Sorry Korra, no face brightening, but he does arch an eyebrow as he takes it. Does that count for something?]

Why are you giving me yours if they're so important?

Korra’s just going to stare for a moment without an ounce of shame.]

Because they’re important. [And Korra thought she was hard headed.] And because I have spares at home.

[That someone’s not used to receiving help doesn’t even register to her.]
