[Annabeth is on the screen - she's cut up in a few places, like something shattered too close to her face, but it's healed over a few days; her expression is steely and hard. More bad news, and that's just brushing the surface.]

I know the location of Evastelei. I'm not telling you where. [She pauses. She hates potentially using the network like this - she knows Malicant must be watching, so part of that you is definitely at him. But she needs help here. There might be someone who can figure out what's up with Eva, or maybe even a way to help. It doesn't make it any less nerve-wracking.]

But she's unconscious. She has been, since our city-wide collective blackout. [Her mouth draws into a line. It's risky, admitting her state (again, because of Malicant; she never did figure out their exact connection). But nothing is going to change if she keeps it to herself. Maybe he already knows.] We need to wake her up. If anyone thinks they might - know something about magical comas, please tell me.

[She's also aware that her tone, her words, all of it implies some sort of relationship with Eva. For the first time she's somewhat admitting to it publicly, she's not quite so nervous. Maybe it's because she feels like she's been laying low lately, and there are more new faces around than familiar ones.]

[The video turns on, and Sokka looks at it with a moment's hesitation before actually speaking. He picked this up at the Visitor Center quickly, but that things like this could even exist still just were unthinkable. There's a bit of amusement playing at the corners of his lips and he stares on without speaking, followed by an eventual shake of the head. Disbelief is plastered all across his face.]

Okay, so let's set the record straight. I've been magically transported to some other world? That's... actually weirdly possible, even if that whole time-stopping thing doesn't sound right. I'll give them that one. Turtles that are the size of an entire city... I think I can wrap my head around. This emperor guy and that—

[There's a moment's hesitation, as if he were just about to actually voice Malicant's name aloud, but he thinks twice at the last minute.]

—other guy; I suppose that's fine too. Big metal city? I'm not sure the style fits me, but I know people who can bend metal, so okay. Weird spirit soul lantern things? [He pauses now, holding a finger to his chin.] I don't claim to be an expert at that spiritual stuff, but that's more than a little creepy if you ask me. But fine, I'll let that one go.

[But Sokka starts chuckling a little ruefully. Sure, all of these strange things are possible, but the probability is... well, he hasn't calculated it, but it can't be large. All of this story just sounds ridiculous to him.]

But a magical communication device that instantly conveys my thoughts across the entire city? That's where I draw the line. How can that possibly work? How can my picture get sent everywhere all at once? C'mon, that just violates every notion of common sense ever! It's ridiculous!

I mean, I guess if this thing were actually real, I should say something like [as he puts on a false air of sophistication for the introduction], "Hey everyone, I'm Sokka. Good to meet you!" But that's not going to happen, and I'm going to feel silly talking to myself. Yeah, this is going to be a dream, and I'm going to wake up any second. [Pause.] Aaaaaany second now. “--ng supposed to what? Oh.”

[The blue eyes are suddenly pulled back to a much more comfortable distance, and a girl comes into view, her brows bent as she skeptically looks toward the camera. She looks really tired and worn out...she's new here.]

“Yeah, I guess I’m not really used to the idea of this thing…” [A sigh, and a curl of the shoulders in a shrug. It won't hurt to try, at least.]

[Her expression quickly mellows into a calm but forced bright smile, though worry stays rooted behind a professional, gentle stoic of deep blue.]

“I’m Katara,” [she explains, motioning a slender hand toward her chest.] “And, um.. I guess I’m new here." [Under her breath, she adds:] "Even if… this is a really bad time…”

[She sighs and shakes her head, her brows furrowing as she looks into the camera to explain. Her arms wrap around her absently.]

“A close friend of mine got hurt while protecting me, and I was going to heal him, but now I’m here and I don’t know what’s happened to him. O-Or any of the others…”

Sounds like a good time. [He laughs awkwardly, and rubs the back of his neck.] Better than centipede monster void dimensions, at least, [he mutters. This is not the first time he’s been suddenly yanked into a different dimension, evidently.]

Anyway, uh, if anyone needs some tech stuff or heavy lifting done, hit me up. I haven’t had a chance to take a close look at the tech here yet, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out. [He seems to brighten a little at the prospect of new alien technology to play with.

He looks like he’s about to cut the feed, but then he hesitates. There’s a couple seconds of anxious silence, and he fidgets, his cheerful demeanor faltering even more.]
And, um, just out of curiosity... When they send us back home, there’s... There is something to go back to, isn’t there? [He laughs, but it’s nervous, like he’s not sure he wants to know the answer.] Nobody would really give me a straight answer, but... They’re not going to send us back if we’re just about to... River is tinkering with a circuit board behind him, hair and a second screwdriver tucked behind one ear with an intent look. When Mike starts to speak, she looks up from her work and listens as he addresses the network.]

Mike Weston. I’ve been working with River, Aya, and Rex to locate the source of the virus that Codename Lucifer exposed our network to some months ago. The bad news is it’s a self-replicating, mutating virus, which means it’s difficult to locate and even harder to neutralize. The good news is, we’re pretty sure we’ve found the origin and can use a program we’ve developed to start removing its influence.

This version of the code has a timed failsafe built into it - a kind of self destruct. The program will run for one week and then expire on its own, preventing it from being used anywhere else or by anyone else. Just us. The whole of the foreigner population, I mean. If it works, then we have what should be a permanent fix ready to install.

We need you. If you can read this, that includes you. In order for this to work, we need to install the program on as many systems as possible as fast as we can and then let the code do the rest. If it works, our network’s security and encryptions should be in working condition again. If you notice anything glitching or failure to encrypt, errors, anything.. we need to know about it right away.

If you have questions, ask.

[To say things had been weird since Wan arrived would be a massive, massive, massive understatement. Several hours of just plain weird. He was finally at the house he'd apparently been assigned and it was nice.

...really nice. Nicest place he'd ever had a chance to sleep in.

But that wasn't why he was at the terminal, using it for the first time. No. He had weird things to ask about.]

H-hello.

[Wan gave an awkward wave.]

I'm new here and I was told I could use this to find out information if I had any questions. I have a few. They're about the turtle that found me and this strange feeling I've been having since I woke up. They're unrelated. The turtle was giving me a strange feeling, but I got that one sorted out.

Anyway, first about the turtle. Her name is Rio'era. She wanted to come home with me, but the home I was given was not the home she wanted to go back to. I mean, I can find her anywhere with the spiritual connection she's given me, but I- I'm not getting to the point. I just wanted to know if that was normal?

A turtle the size of a small house calling out to you when you get here and all that. The people that introduced me to the computers didn't mention anything about smaller turtle spirits doing that. They only mentioned the giant turtle spirit we're all living on right now.

The other question I have is about this strange feeling of... well, I'm not sure. It's like I can feel myself in two other places, but I can't pinpoint those places. I can just feel them. Out there.

Floating around.

...Somewhere.

[Wan quieted, trying to remember if there was anything else.]

Oh! I'm supposed to find a job! I've never had one in a human city before! So that's pretty exciting. If I can get one. How do I get one? Is there a place I can volunteer to go hunting outside the city or something? Cause I've done that before... sort of.

[With the network back up, Septimus has had two options for how to address people. It was a hard choice, which to go with—and he may later record it at the radio for them to broadcast if anyone’s avoiding the network completely. But he’s willing to do this to reach as many people as possible… and he might have an ulterior motive for using it.

He is wearing a small, faintly triumphant smile.]

We seem to be getting new arrivals again. Welcome to our urban war. [Dry and sardonic—because really, it’s a crowbegotten mess.] I’m Septimus, current director of the Eshai Memorial Hospital.

But today isn’t about healing, as cheering as that would be. When we attacked the palace, we may not have been able to break either the outer barrier or the one to the throne room [a faint, almost unnoticeable flash of chagrin] we nonetheless got into the Palace. Many of the teams explored, got out again with success in removing some of our enemy’s resources. There’s been a change.

There was little chance for planning. We didn’t entirely communicate inside—we never knew if reinforcements would come behind us. Coordination was awkward. We often did not know what our teammates were capable of—not always even their names.

[He leans forward slightly, his voice gaining a faint edge of intensity.]

We got more done in within hours than we had in weeks. Months. We did it when we stopped being loosely associated or entirely independent, when we talked. When we worked together. The hospital is the same, and even more: Foreigners and kedan building together, healing together. The radio [still such a strange term] connects, communicates, by our creation.

Think how much more we could do.

[And by now, his eyes glint with determination and obscure passion. His smile is almost savage.]

It’s time we do. Time we talk to each other, stop wandering with little purpose. Time we learn to fight the slive we face not severally, but together.

I am building bridges between locals, organizations, teams—and you, too, if you are ready to gear up for the fight. I will not discuss details here—it is still too insecure. But I can be found at the hospital.

[And he is well aware that announcing it in public may make him a convenient target.as all his life. He may be baiting it. He would rather face it head-on.]

[The same day, a courier arrives with a message requesting a meeting at earliest opportunity and suggesting a time, directed at both locals and Foreigners: Celuann, Eva, Milyn, Costigan, Temeraire, Korra, Stark Industries, Wayne Enterprises, the radio, Annabeth Chase, and Jack Frost. It also notes to pass the message along to meet with him to anyone they think relevant.

Also, all Foreigner hospital employees and volunteers have mail telling them to see him.]

[ Since Evandau's message said to use the radio for important information, Jack has made a visit to Clark and Lois' suite and asked to use the set. ]

Hi everyone... I'll keep this short, but as Evandau said, he asked me to start taking care of the new arrivals at the Welcome Center for the time being. So showing them to their suite, making sure they know about jobs -- though, uh... I guess that part's a little pointless at the moment -- and helping them with the consoles if they're not familiar.

Remember that new people coming in aren't going to know anything about what's going on and since things are dangerous right now, we'll have to make sure they're safe. So if anyone else wants to help with that, it'd be a pretty good time to take up volunteering. Come by the Center if you're interested please, since I can't answer here like with the consoles.

---

[ Jack will be at the Welcome Center if anyone wants to drop by. It was spared being targeted by the bombings thankfully and so is completely intact. As he mentioned, he'll be hoping that they get some new faces in, since the Center will now need to be staffed at all hours to take in the new arrivals the Emperor was speaking of. He will also ask a kedan courier to deliver a message to Korra, Julie, Booker and Hawke, asking them to come by since he needs to speak with them regarding the fishing shop. ]

She's recording from her suite and the video on her end fickers from her with her head ducked down, pen in hand as she writes something on a piece of paper to the very shadowy image of...something...moving on screen. At one point, the feed blinks out entirely and when it comes back on, she's holding up a piece of paper. Her note is short.]

[Bianca's at one of the consoles in the hospital's ground floor again; this time, it's much easier to tell it's a hospital thanks to the construction and refurnishing being completely finished.]

Hi everyone, I know we've had some more arrivals [A slightly wry smile, because there's nothing new about that], so let me introduce myself first. I'm Bianca Reyes, I help run Eshai Memorial Hospital here, if you ever get sick or injured, just so you know. [There's a location ping attached, showing where it is in Metal.]

Before I get to my main announcement, I want to give everyone a warning. One of the teenagers here isn't as innocent as we've been led to believe. He's also at least one of the ones going around on the network anonymously making incendiary comments.

[There's a link to Bakura's last network post.]

He has no problem with problems with make death threats, made a horror movie style monster appear and then disappear, and he tried to make me forget my encounter with him. Just in case anyone's seen anything like that or has gaps in their memories.

[He had a warning, and plenty of time. She's not just going to allow someone like that to wander around with no problem.]

Moving on from that, now that the hospital is finally set up, [Instead of being half finished] I'd like to announce that we'll be having a blood drive open to the whole population here in Keeliai. It'll be in four days, to give everyone who wants to take part a chance to make sure they can donate. We've spread some flyers to some of the larger markets and grocers about what foods are good to eat before you donate. If you aren't sure, just drink plenty of water and eat dark green leafy vegetables. Seaweed's a good source of iron.

If you aren't sure about donating blood, or you're afraid of needles, think about it as doing something to help yourself and others in the future. There aren't enough of us here that emergency transfusions are easily possible, especially if you're not human. [Looking at you, Arthur.]

There'll be snacks for everyone donating, but we can turn it into a potluck. Make it a small party.

Don't be afraid of asking any questions you might have.

[ Curtly: ]

Morning. Kyle Rayner; Green Lantern Corps. I’ve been here fifteen months. For those of you new here, hi.

[ He inhales, bites his lip, glad it’s an audio feed, before continuing evenly: ]

So, the stuff they feed us about there being three planes isn’t BS. [ a faintly amused noise ] We’re on the Life plane. The others are Death, and Dreaming, and they’re accessible with the right gateway. Our enemy is said to live in the Death plane and control the environment there. We can’t recreate the original portals we found when the turtle stopped at Sinbrilee, but even so I wouldn’t really recommend sightseeing [ unless someone’s highly inclined towards raising hell, but Kyle doesn’t mention that, not even as a joke. ]. The Dreaming plane seems pretty harmless so far. We’ve done some exploring, here’s what we’ve got:

1. Any injuries you sustain there won’t heal automatically when you come back. We don’t know about dying but if you can get hurt there, you can die there too.
2. It changes depending on your subconscious. If someone else is in there with you, they can affect your environment if they try hard enough. I’d advise building some mental defences: meditation, et cetera… especially if you’re from a world that doesn’t have telepaths. If you need a hand with this, call me.
3. Eating and drinking works normally.
4. Powers - any kind - don’t work reliably and sometimes don’t work at all. Neither does technology.
5. You can enter and leave using different gateways no problem, doesn’t matter how far apart they are, but if you’ve only got the one, I’d say use it to get out. There’s plenty more gateways than the ones we got for research, but we don’t know where they are, and for all you know you could end up at one on the ocean floor.
6. The runes for all gateways have to be exact. Scraping one, even barely, shuts it down.
7. Don’t fall asleep there. You get stuck in your own nightmares - or somebody else’s - and it’s a pain in the ass to get out.
8. If something lives there, it’s pretty good at hiding.
9. Time’s much slower. A few days there could mean a few minutes here.

[ Beat. ]

If anybody else has got research they’d like to share, we’d appreciate hearing it.

Okay. So. Back of a giant turtle. War against some dude whose name we're not supposed to say. Get a job. The basics of the situation, right?

I gotta admit, ending up in some city that looks like it's part of an MMORPG was not where I thought I'd be after my day got off to such a great start. But seriously, who would think that? And not gonna lie, I did wonder for a while if maybe this is all some whacked out dream after taking a hit to the head in the middle of a fight.

[He shrugs, sighs and runs one hand back through his hair before sitting forward.]

Anyway. Since it seems like I might be here for a while...

My name's Rex Salazar. I happen to be really good with machines if anyone knows of any job openings around here that have to do with stuff like that. I've also done work as a bodyguard before. Fighting monsters and catching criminals? Got tons of experience with all that, too. I'm been assigned a place in the Metal Sector if that helps.

[Going quiet a moment, his frustrated expression becomes thoughtful. Maybe even a little hopeful.]

Also, while I realize this is probably a long shot? If there's a guy by the name of Six here, I'd appreciate it if someone would let me know if he's around. Doctor Holiday, too. Both or either of them. Or anyone from Providence, really.

I asked about how these worked just to be safe, but I also hear I got a pretty thick skull, y'know? [ And here there are two quiet thumps followed by a light hiss, because he sure did knock on the side of his head for emphasis. ] Wanted to make sure I got it.

So, uh. Hey. Name's Casey. I'm from New York, and if you don't know what that means, I feel sorry for ya. I guess I'm here to wake up half-drowned and defeat evil like everyone else? The half-drowned thing is pretty new, but I actually have some experience with evil, so here's hopin' I can put myself to good use. I mean, between giant turtles and fightin' bad guys and studying for English Lit., I'll take the bad guys.
