fourteen : taken away to the dark side [video]

[The room is dark and Hayley's face is only vaguely visible, lit only by the glow of the console's screen. She sounds tired, posting in the middle of the night. Someone paying really, really close attention might notice the Flash pajama bottoms she's wearing or the Superman cape, courtesy of Jor-El, strung about her shoulders like a blanket.]

I don't know if someone else already said this, but in case they didn't? Bart Allen and Kon-El are both gone. Back home, not missing.

[A beat.] Will someone bring me some food? I haven't really eaten for awhile.

I, uh, went a little overboard on the meat, [he admits.] So I sort of ended up with a lot of leftovers. Cooking is hard.

Oh. [She smiles down at the sandwiches briefly. Shortly after arriving, Clark had to teach her how to cook on her own.] Yeah, I know what you mean.

[Hayley loosely hugs the box against herself, then shifts from one foot to the other.] Are you wanting to like, hang out or are you leaving?

I dunno. I don't really have a schedule or anything, so... [He shrugs.] Do you want to hang out? [Specifically, does she want to hang out with him? He hasn't forgotten that they didn't exactly get along in their first interaction.] I promise it won't hurt my feelings if you kick me out.

[everylittlegirl]

[She glances down to the box, then looks back up to him with a crooked smile full of sympathetic regret.]

Would you mind? Sorry, it's just like, I'm tired and I'm trying to get out more or whatever, but I don't want to overwhelm myself because then I'd just end up back in my room alone and avoiding everyone, you know?

[A beat.] But we could maybe hang out some other time? I mean, I want to hang out some other time. Just.. not.. tonight?

Nah, it's cool. I get that. I've been there; it's not much fun. [He doesn't ask for details. It's not his business, and he's pretty sure that would be obnoxious.]

Yeah, sure! If you want to stop by the lab sometime, that's where I usually am. [He smiles, then takes a step back through the doorway and gives her a small wave.]

So, I'll see you around, I guess. Hope you like the cheesesteaks.

Yeah, maybe. [She lifts the box as a gesture.] Thanks again.

[He shrugs.] Yeah, no problem. Well, uh... Good night. [He gives her one last smile, then turns and heads for home.]
